That would be sick because it would be completely brand new. It would be sick if it was just another human faction. Or sea creatures and the whole planet is shallow water.
They have definitely been updated from the prior installment. For one, no flying bugs I ever saw, so this will be new. Illuminate had a lot of hovering units, wouldn’t be a stretch for some to be higher and considered flying. Like the new infantry models for illuminate. Gives a more culty feel but they’re clearly still packing some high tech gear Holly shit that tripod got big, it was a lot smaller in HD1 and usually came in packs of 3, and they were shielded. That cannon was a short range arc cannon. You did not want these things getting close. Very interested to see how differently/similarly they play, since most enemies have been fairly close to their original counterparts so far.
@@michaelkaufhold3126 May have been. Been a while since I've really "dove" back into HD1. They do have one in HD2 though I just encountered yesterday. Tough bastard to take down
The Illuminate were rough in the first game. They had shields, loads of area control/ denial style weapons, snipers, turrets, drones, and units that could interrupt your controls. True hard mode drops when this lot shows up.
The hooded enemy is not apprentice, it's a hunter - the sniper enemy with electrostatic glove. The second one doesn't look like anything from the first game, it's either an illusionist or something new judging by size. The third one is definitely either council member or illusionist. The sixth one looks like something new. 7th one can be anything, might be vehicle crew. 8th one is totally new, nothing like it in the first game. 9th one is the tripod, but very big. 10th one got no equivalent. 11th one if the observer, scout unit.

Okay so, I have been thinking about it for a while and if it ends up being as I thought, things can get pretty exciting. Okay so, to begin with, I didn't play HD2 from the very beginning, so idrk, but if both factions bots and bugs started invading planets from the ends of the stellar map, (which I believe it was that way since the Malevolon Creek invasion) this lead me to the next conclusion. Lets say that all the factions always start from the edges of the stellar map right? Okay, Bots and Terminids they have been invading territories rapidly, thus approaching the Super Earth, while for us it is more difficult to contain the advances. Now the Illuminate will come, who seem to be quite difficult enemies and another faction to deal with. If to all this, the developers add a 4th faction, and the pace of enemy conquest continues advancing as for now, I am afraid that the super earth would also be in danger of Invasion. That would be the most epic moment for all Helldivers to finally have the support of Xbox players.
Yup. Most of them are from Helldivers 1. Hell for super earth. Those illuminate are the nightmare. Shield and stealth are their strongest. The droid ball is the one we need to destroy them first before the reinforcements come. They're all use teleport
Thank you for apologies. I just really tired of this Helldivers 2 news RUclipsrs that seems to have no damn clue that there is Helldivers and talking about mechs like they wasnt ever a thing in Helldivers and no one knows how they will look like, but they talk like damn experts
Tbh the illuminate remind me of the combine from hl2 they both have very advanced tech and got their asses kicked by earth but are still very much a massive threat and the weird strider looking thingy at 9:56 they straight up took the design and changed it a bit and most of them look like the beta design for the combine
The game already has that, we're playing as that big threat :) We're literally the big evil empire that has been ruling with an iron fist for a full century, all these other enemy factions are rebellions. The automatons used to be human The bugs were literally being kept in farms like cattle And the Illuminates were practically banished They're all trying to end Humanity's tyrannical regime
Hope we are going to get some sort of anti-aircraft turret stratagem or something like that. When you take into consideration how chaotic the Terminids missions are on higher difficulties, keeping track of both land AND air just won't be possible...
Get your Shotguns, Stalwarts & heavy machine gun ready cause these will be your best options to eliminate the Illuminate shields quickly. Once you remove their shield than you can quickly dispach them since they have no armor. These guys are no jokes. Don't rely on the Railgun or 1 hit stratagems like the 500kg bomb cause the Illuminate shield will absorb that 1st hit & shrug it off.
I hope they tease it out like how they're doing w/ illuminate snipers and shriekers. My friend and I both got simultaneously sniped while we were on the terminid planet (i have a clip of it), we both had shields gen on but it def got hit. It would be so cool to see, esp a illuminate terminid alliance until we get attacked from another front
flying bugs were kinda a given in my mind. when tf do you ever look up for anything but a bile or to throw something? they gonna need shoulder swapping n a bunch of other things at that rate, though, which they won't do 💯
I almost want to guarantee they won't add shoulder swapping, but at the same time, with only the shield pack existing. I can guarantee, is that the game will get too hectic to a point, some kind of movement is needed.
Oh man, it has been so long that i totally forgot about the "box in" mechanic for the illuminati. I remember that the meta was piercing long range ballistic weapons to kill observers before they could sound the alarm. Those big three legged things attacked with electicity like the arc thrower.
My guess is the illuminates are going to appear at the southern front. Why? Because cyberstan is towards the northern front and I believe that either they will come back as their own faction who allies with the automatons or they’ll be counted along with the atomatons (so the automatons would basically be half the war map)
Illuminates in HD1 weren’t so strong, you just had to be fast and run past them or away. However it seems like there are more classes and some are missing (like the big “wall globe”) and it would be so cool if they’re now in fact less advanced than before as their technology got stolen
Vet from helldivers 1 here! Some illuminates are similar to the ones from the first game, other are completely brand new, looking forward to see them in action! Nice video, and keep bringing democracy guys!
Love the new take on Iluminates, more alien less flashy in aesthetic, but sticking to the original shapes and hierarchy. Like the bugs and automatons they've basically taken the original concept to the extreme and removed the cartoony bits to make them more menacing.
The scout guys for the illuminates are basicly observers the protoss use from starcraft. Those council member guys in the floating char used to cast mind control blasts at you and reverse your controls and you would jump into enemies/stratagems good times haha.
1:55 correct me if I am wrong, but I believe those are terminid pouncers and hunters, which will leap REALLY far to just to remove half your health bar and apply slow on you.
These are still all very tiny enemies compared to what is coming. Bile Titans are going to be a minor inconvenience. What is exciting is that we will also get heavier weapons and vehicles to deal with them. I can't wait to be walking around in a 150 foot tall exosuit!
I just hope they give us a strategem to call down a squad of AI controlled regular super earth troopers. You forget helldivers are only special forces units.
I just bought this game yesterday and haven't even gotten used to the bugs and automotans yet...😅 played for like 5 hours with a random group I met from South Africa. It was a great time.
Fighting this faction will be complete hell. I have also heard a fan theory, that the illuminate is a real antagonists for Super earth. They have helped cyborgs to become automatons and start full-scale war against humanity to return their world + captured or had agreement with terminids queen to do same thing
honestly i really disliked illuminates in helldivers 1 because it looked like different game, its looked like some space pong, fight against space balls evading space balls and beams.. the models were not scairy at all and i just didnt get the feeling of dread from fighting them... hopefully something changes in Helldivers 2
The illuminates’ shielding typically wasn’t a super big deal, as any weapon or explosive would could deal pretty good damage to any unit’s shielding The purpose of the shields was to provide regenerative capability to squishy units, and also completely nullify the effects of fire, poison, acid, and it lowered laser based weapon damage It became a really big issue when dealing with monsters like the Illusionist, Obelisk(orb thing I think), ETC The more shield they had, the harder it was to use weapons that would otherwise slow down or harm the unit Though, one thing I found absolutely effective was a mixture of high explosives, shotguns, and a lot of poison and acid. Weapons like the fully upgraded RUMBLER, the FLUX(?) acidthrower, and other weapons capable of doing high damage up close would absolutely melt shields, flesh, and teammates alike, while also dealing with any snipers hiding off screen or any cloaked units.
I feel as though the warbond "Cutting Edge" that is going to be released is just subtly hinting that we should be learning how to use energy weapons effectively without killing our teammates is going to be vital to the BS we will be faced with soon
The Iluminates destroyed several Super Earths in the past. Since they are so difficult to fight a lot of divers were dedicated to only fight bots and bugs, and would not play against Illuminates, rather allowing the current Super Earth to be destroyed so new bugs could be spawned in.
Gonna call it now. Shortly after release these will be by far the least played planets IF they play like in HD1. They look cool but were a pain in the ass in Helldivers 1 especially if you get hit with that orb that reverses all your controls so up is down and left is right etc etc. Still very cool that they are coming all the same but me thinks ill be sticking with bugs lol
These illuminate, especially the beefy white one, reminds me of timesplitter's (the creatures) The tripod looks very half-life strider or war of the worlds. These should be very interesting enemies, and will probably coincide with vehicles as they sound tough.
I was expecting some more flying enemies to be introduced. Not just because of the S.A.M. base secondary objective but the recently leaked yellow mech looks like it might be an anti-air unit.

I always assumed Stims were nano tech stolen from the Illuminates. Wouldn't be the first piece of technology we steal from them.
That first one doesn't look like an Apprentice, that looks like a Hunter, the enemy type that uses Electro-Pulse gloves
I'm actually wondering if there may be 4 factions eventually since the galaxy appears that it's coordinated off into 4 different sectors that seem to put Super Earth in the middle of it. 🤔
Zombies
Human commies
@@mindsablaze221omg please
That would be sick because it would be completely brand new. It would be sick if it was just another human faction. Or sea creatures and the whole planet is shallow water.
Events or Crossover races would be cool to say if they did the Killzone one they mentioned on twitter and that last qtr of the galactic map
Illuminate is basically the protoss from starcraft
Protoss from StarCraft, Tau from Warhammer 40k, Covenant from Halo, the Citadel from Mass Effect, etc
Combine from Half Life 2 (sort of)
@@Jerome18921I can 100% see the Combine inspiration with that literal tri-pod walker enemy.
@@pyerack The first one is def an HL:OF shocktrooper
@@Jerome18921
They do resemble combine synth units
They have definitely been updated from the prior installment.
For one, no flying bugs I ever saw, so this will be new.
Illuminate had a lot of hovering units, wouldn’t be a stretch for some to be higher and considered flying.
Like the new infantry models for illuminate. Gives a more culty feel but they’re clearly still packing some high tech gear
Holly shit that tripod got big, it was a lot smaller in HD1 and usually came in packs of 3, and they were shielded. That cannon was a short range arc cannon. You did not want these things getting close. Very interested to see how differently/similarly they play, since most enemies have been fairly close to their original counterparts so far.
Wasn't there an even tougher Charger (Tank?) that had complete armor protection that didn't have a soft spot in the back?
@@michaelkaufhold3126 May have been. Been a while since I've really "dove" back into HD1. They do have one in HD2 though I just encountered yesterday. Tough bastard to take down
@@michaelkaufhold3126 the behemoth? It had tentacles on its face and only could be hit when it dug the tentacles into the floor to attack
The Illuminate were rough in the first game. They had shields, loads of area control/ denial style weapons, snipers, turrets, drones, and units that could interrupt your controls. True hard mode drops when this lot shows up.
Super Earth is clearly still behind in advanced warfare, even after 100 yrs that's for sure. We are clearly outmatched
The hooded enemy is not apprentice, it's a hunter - the sniper enemy with electrostatic glove. The second one doesn't look like anything from the first game, it's either an illusionist or something new judging by size. The third one is definitely either council member or illusionist. The forth one seems to be the apprentice or the outcast, judging by more ornate armor than the hunter. The fifth one is definitely the apprentice. The sixth one looks like something new. 7th one can be anything, might be vehicle crew. 8th one is totally new, nothing like it in the first game. 9th one is the tripod, but very big. 10th one got no equivalent. 11th one if the observer, scout unit.
Third one I would say for sure is a Council Member, on account of the 'halo' of metal around their chair, which the Illusionist does not have.
@@All_Mighty672 Well, council member is also red and not blue.
@@BIGESTblade I haven't really seen red on any of the enemies shown, they may have just changed part of the color pallet.
I'm assuming the second one is going to be some kind of normal ground troop with a gun.
@@pyerack Illuminates don't have traditonal sort of guns. The closest thing they have is electrostatic glove that hunter uses. They rely on their psyonics and electrical weapons arc gun-style.
For anyone unfamiliar with the first game, they rock laser weapons. Should be fun.
I hope we get a change of scenery like fighting the illuminates in cities or near colonies
Bro imagine a bile titans walking around the corner of a sky scraper at night. Would be sick as hell. I kind of want a few like darker maps where I have to us my flash light. Maybe tone down the spawns for those types of missions

This game is great. The potential is crazy. They already added stuff in the first month in other games I would if waited years for like weather hazards
Im considering the Logic of Other games but, Energy Weapons are usually the call for Destroying Shields, Interesting enough the next warbond is only Energy weapons mmmm....
Oh christ, I remember that bot ! It was the tutorial unit in Helldivers 1 ! Only, back then, it was just a head on a pod... but hat's him.
The counter to shielding in Helldivers is fast attacks, things like machine guns and strafing runs
9:53 looks exactly like the Striders from Half Life 2
9:52 oh shit strider from halflife
Yup. Most of them are from Helldivers 1. Hell for super earth. Those illuminate are the nightmare. Shield and stealth are their strongest. The droid ball is the one we need to destroy them first before the reinforcements come. They're all use teleport
We've had robot Nam, bug Afghanistan, so what's next? Psyker Stalingrad? Well to be fair, fighting in urban/cities areas would be pretty damn sweet.
Between robo-nam, bug-istan, and illumigrad, I don’t know how I’m going to survive
Thank you for apologies. I just really tired of this Helldivers 2 news RUclipsrs that seems to have no damn clue that there is Helldivers and talking about mechs like they wasnt ever a thing in Helldivers and no one knows how they will look like, but they talk like damn experts
Not only that alot of these Helldivers reporters have never played H1. Maybe watch videos of H1 or play the game and then do news reporting lol smh
Tbh the illuminate remind me of the combine from hl2 they both have very advanced tech and got their asses kicked by earth but are still very much a massive threat and the weird strider looking thingy at 9:56 they straight up took the design and changed it a bit and most of them look like the beta design for the combine
i hope they add a fourth faction that is such a big threat the whole galaxy needs to work together to fight back against
We are the fourth enemy 😂
@@TheEmpireAnimationsgreat point
That's us. We're the baddies. Accept the lore.
The game already has that, we're playing as that big threat :)
We're literally the big evil empire that has been ruling with an iron fist for a full century, all these other enemy factions are rebellions.
The automatons used to be human
The bugs were literally being kept in farms like cattle
And the Illuminates were practically banished
They're all trying to end Humanity's tyrannical regime
Like human faction of rebels.
*I actually posted about the flying bug on reddit on the game cover,i think i was one (if not the first) that posted about them a long time ago*
Seems like big boi gonna be running at you and throw you like an ragdoll
Man we are cooked. Boi may pick us up and yeet us
Hope we are going to get some sort of anti-aircraft turret stratagem or something like that.
When you take into consideration how chaotic the Terminids missions are on higher difficulties, keeping track of both land AND air just won't be possible...
I saw an anti-air turret in a robot outpost yesterday
They look like Race X from Half-life opposing force or like XEN creatures
I despise the illusionist. One tracking orb from them, you get temporary inverted controls and you've pretty much sealed your fate when in a breach.
they look like the Fallen from Destiny
would make sense since it's an exiled faction
illuminate 2 might be a sniper from hd 1 that stays far back and uses a type of railgun to snipe you out
Man we are cooked
Get your Shotguns, Stalwarts & heavy machine gun ready cause these will be your best options to eliminate the Illuminate shields quickly. Once you remove their shield than you can quickly dispach them since they have no armor. These guys are no jokes. Don't rely on the Railgun or 1 hit stratagems like the 500kg bomb cause the Illuminate shield will absorb that 1st hit & shrug it off.
Thankfully the breaker is my fav gun so far. Achieving a never seen 80% accuracy with it, haha. (Steam deck with ps5 controller)
I can guarantee, is that the game will get too hectic to a point, some kind of movement is needed.
or things better than the shield. there's a jetpack. idk, I bet they could make some goofy speed boots or sum.
The 4 armed charger equivalent looking thing reminds me of the Berserker from gears of war, imagine if it had those mechanics lol
can't believe they added mahoraga to helldivers
All of the enemy factions represent various other factions from other ips, and I love that.
10:53 looks like something flying and carrying in a soldier to drop it off
They have to add the trumpet sounds from the War of the Worlds to the tripod 😭
These things look terrifying.
9:51 couldn't think of anything other than the strider from the Half Life Series
10:00 It resembles the Tripod for HD1, and the 'main cannon' was an arc gun that shoots electricity.
And yes, it does have a shield :P
The scout guys for the illuminates are basicly observers the protoss use from starcraft. Those council member guys in the floating char used to cast mind control blasts at you and reverse your controls and you would jump into enemies/stratagems good times haha.
Its impresive how their doing more and better things than other games from bigger companys
I can't wait to be walking around in a 150 foot tall exosuit!
the game giving the players so much food lately can't wait to join in
Very cool, thanks for sharing the leaks mate!
it's wild that the flying bugs on the cover of the game... but everyone was shocked when the flying bugs showed up
Illuminate stole combine's strider blueprints.
Here's hope they bring back some of the old ost. The Illuminate difficulty nine theme made you feel like a total badass
9:28 "Covering up his doodee. Yeah.. It looks pretty huge." Might need some context with that one.
I have noticed flocks of something flying overhead on one of the planets. Couldn't shoot em, looked to be just background ambience.
I cant wait man this game keep getting better!
Flying enemies? Amazing! Now we will have another option of where to aim and spend 2 mags to kill 4 new types of bugs :D
“He has a little cloak there covering his duty. Yeah, It looks pretty huge”
Lmfao
The illuminates’ shielding typically wasn’t a super big deal, as any weapon or explosive would could deal pretty good damage to any unit’s shielding
The purpose of the shields was to provide regenerative capability to squishy units, and also completely nullify the effects of fire, poison, acid, and it lowered laser based weapon damage
It became a really big issue when dealing with monsters like the Illusionist, Obelisk(orb thing I think), ETC
The more shield they had, the harder it was to use weapons that would otherwise slow down or harm the unit
Though, one thing I found absolutely effective was a mixture of high explosives, shotguns, and a lot of poison and acid. Weapons like the fully upgraded RUMBLER, the FLUX(?) acidthrower, and other weapons capable of doing high damage up close would absolutely melt shields, flesh, and teammates alike, while also dealing with any snipers hiding off screen or any cloaked units.
Pretty neat, they definitely fit their sountrack found in the gamefiles
I remember Jumpack saved me a lot with Illuminate in Helldivers 1.
I don't think Helldivers 2 jump pack will save me from Illuminate ...
I feel as though the warbond "Cutting Edge" that is going to be released is just subtly hinting that we should be learning how to use energy weapons effectively without killing our teammates is going to be vital to the BS we will be faced with soon
Holy shit. That flying bug looks like a giant winged hunter. My god... have mercy.
These illuminate, especially the beefy white one, reminds me of timesplitter's (the creatures)
The tripod looks very half-life strider or war of the worlds. These should be very interesting enemies, and will probably coincide with vehicles as they sound tough.
The "Chapie" looking robot may be the "deployable infantry" strategem that's coming.
Ive been excited for these guys more than anything, didnt think we'd be seeing them so soon
11:05 this looks like things in matrix…
You mean the sentinels.
I was expecting some more flying enemies to be introduced. Not just because of the S.A.M. base secondary objective but the recently leaked yellow mech looks like it might be an anti-air unit.
