With this kit, you should have left the ram air from the factory on as it fits inside the new heat shield. This ensures cold air getting to the filter/intake tube. The water catch can/bottle is there for a reason which attached to the ram air tube. Other than that good video, I have the same ebay cold air intake on my 2005 toyota Camry le which has 360,525 miles on her and still going strong. Just got finished changing the clutch, this model we have was built in Japan.
I actually put it back on a few months after this video, it took me that long to realize thats what the square hole is for. I'm usually good about noticing things like that so not sure how i missed that for that long.. still didnt notice much of a performance difference except during the winter time.
2:46 That thing is one of the noise-canceling intake resonators. It's there to reduce the intake noise. There are 2 resonators and 1 side branch on the original air intake -- all to silence the induction.
I thought it was a debris catch can.. i actually figured out almost a year later i was supposed to leave that air duct from the front on.. it fit into the new air box
She does sound different, better too. Great finds and prices as well. Your knowledge on car repairs is a blessing and saves you money too as you just have the expense of the parts purchases. Me, I'd have to buy parts and pay a mechanic so a car sadly may never be for me. BUT if ever it is, I'd have to make you my mechanic 😂
You should also put some sea foam in the crank case and tank then spray some on the throttle body to deep clean the injectors and valves for better throttle response and longevity
I did the install using your video. Thanks for the help car sounds nice however the straight pipe kinda drowns out the intake sound. With the manual transmission you can stretch out the gear shifting since you Have more air going into the engine. Get a muffler delete or a proper exhaust system with a muffler. Trust me you will enjoy the car further more!! Once again thanks for the help.
Just now seeing this, I wish mine was a manual... I gutted my muffler a little bit and it sounds a little better with that too but again, the 4 speed auto really takes a lot of fun out of what it could be.

Crazy how they removed these everywhere, i literally cannot find an cold air intake for 5th gen camry anywhere that is under $250. It is also difficult to put a universal intake on a 5th gen because the MAF sensor requires a bracket to pop into which universal intakes do no have.
@@guygaric940 did you experience a noticeable lag when you first installed the intake. I recently installed a similar intake on my 2002 camry and i’m getting major delay. I’m sure it’s just the ECU trying to learn the new air flow but not sure.
What year is 5th generation I got one for 170, look for a pipe that's thr same size had your reg intake with a maf if not you can always cut a slot for the maf
I know this comment is old but I was able to piece together an intake for the 5th gen using sections and connectors by Specter performance. You'll have to tap in your own vacuum line but that's about it. I used a 90° bend off of the throttle body followed by a straight with an adapter for the MAF and then another 60° to bring it back straight. I bought an off brand clamp to hold my drain tubes and the second clip on my MAF sensor. While setup was less than $120. Hope this helps

That hole u plugged on intake u said was nothing there to hook up to. I have mine to some denso air relay lmk if ur check engine turned a P0441😢 incorrect purge flow. Been tring to figure it. Out

@@guygaric940 it’s basically a 4 door Scion tC. I bought mine just recently from an old lady with 32k on it. Very nice for a Camry. Thing rips. I did the short ram intake from eBay but put a k and n filter on it and a throttle body spacer from air raid. Sweet set up. Also did a walker exhaust/ cat manifold. Thing definitely pulls better. Did an eiback 2” lowering kit on her too and got 17” Steelies from a solara. I like my Camry lol
@@guygaric940 the only benefit of the 4 speed auto is you can get a lsd for the trans if your going to swap the trans look for a 07 camry or newer with the 5 speed auto (U250E) which is much stronger or the get 5 speed manual
Sorry for the late reply, honestly I didn't notice any performance differences. I played a stock 0-60 video next to one after the intake install and they were about the same.. Only difference I noticed was the sound, and that's all I was really going for anyway. I've always thought this car has had great throttle response, again, not much of a change there either but one thing it does have that it didnt have before I notice is when you get on the gas you can hear it take a quick gasp for air, the sound of the air rushing past the throttle plate. Cool stuff. I would think the mpg's have gone up maybe just a hair because it now has the ability to breathe a little easier but i didn't notice any difference there either, lol
Cold air intake sadly won't give much difference other then sound and even then it could harm MPG/Throttle response because the car isn't tuned to the airflow coming through.

Buy v6 has cold air intake real on stock. Snorkel is above radiator capturing cool air. This pos sucks hot air from under hood next to hot engine. Total ripoff.
