One disadvantage, I forgot to mention in the vid is more frequent oil changes most times. IF you get the tune perfect, and get the motor warm before you push it in the trailer or have a pan heater the oil can stay pretty clean. I cook of the moisture and reuse my oil since it normally comes out every couple races to get the moisture out.
The right oil helps too . But basically you need to boil the water out of the oil was a common practice to run the engine 220* for a bit will boil the water out of the oil .
Thanks for the video ! I'm in the process of setting up my car for methanol now. :) Could you do more videos of how you setup the ecu for the methanol?
I wonder if jonn sometimes spikes his M100 ( or gasoline/E100 ) with nitromethane aka NM to up to 30% concentration as PFI speed and UTG RUclips channels have done it and one vintage rail has a how to do it safely on the internet. I was told it acts Like a big shot of NO2/adding a bigger turbo/1-3 more psi of boost depending on how much it’s running. I’m doing the same as you as 110LL is $$ ( old 1970 440 mopar and I wasn’t sure if the valves had been fixed for EPA gasoline aka hardened valve seats and valve heads and was doing as cheap insurance ) and my new engine ( 1970 440 RB/426 G2 hemi running turbo boost ) can run on USA 🇺🇸 85 regular pump Ron if I’m desperate ( I found out tricks too do it but not my favourite as I have to lower cylinder pressure and kill mpg/power ) but most of the time I’m planning on 91- to q16 aka AV-gas or E85 depending on where I’m driving local a round town I can get M100 cheap and easy too. its my first pick at the pumps on dyno/race day I’m going to spike it up to 30% nitro I’m mostly reserving it for special events/occasions because it’s $$$ @ 15-40$ a 🇺🇸 gallon and a side effect it at 30% cackles and smells like a 60’s topfueler and I can even add essential oils to change the smell to ie Orange
You’re right on the money concerning fuel consumption. The air fuel mixture is double for alcohol. That’s why I want nothing to do with it in my street car. I saw a significant reduction in fuel mileage and range when they brought out the 10% ethanol mixture gasoline. I call it garbage gasoline. I want fuel mileage and I’m willing to pay a little more for the ability to drive much further on a tank of gasoline.
John looking at the markings on that pump it is a 1100 not a 110 the differance is in the gear size 110 to 1200 have the same housing the number stamped beside the 110 tells the size of the pump I have been running meth for over 40 + years good vid keep them coming and stay safe cheers from down under
does the compression ratio have to be higher to make it work better? Is there a sweet spot on compression that m1 likes. We all love more compression. But..... ??
Ahhh I see. I may just run meth at the track and e85 on the street. I’m building a street invader style car right now. That’s the class I wanna be in. Drive it onthe street. Hit the track and make nice passes. Britt got the right idea
Is this the same as a procharged motor? Building a procharged small block and thinking of running strictly methanol instead of C16 with and intercooler. Any suggestions?
On my dirt late model racecar I run a piston fuel pump on a 400 ci small block chevy and it's supposed to supply a 2,500 hp engine would it work on a turbo engine? It bolts up to the stock fuel pump location on a old school V8

@@TurboJohnRacing I would have assumed carb would be easier. I have a motorcycle that I am trying to convert to an alcohol run. That way I can still get around when gas is too expensive to buy. Still in the research phase....do you know where to find an explanation on your math for the injectors? Great video my guy. Liked, and sub. Keep em coming.
One day I’ll get my head removed from my ass and switch to alcohol and efi , I’m still blow through dominator q16 😭. What does John think about mechanical alcohol injection with turbo? We have rons alcohol injection here in Az and they swear I’ll get more consistency and run cooler . Just haven’t seen mechanical injection with turbo only s/c.
I have a question, I worked as a mechanic my entire life, Did you guys fall into a pit of money? What am I missing here? Ive got bills to pay and mouths to feed.
Why has John Doc been talkin steadily in a negative way about you lately John???? When he does it i instantly stop watching the video. I've met you twice and you were really nice and respectful to me and my family. And I've never heard you talk bad about any racer or anyone period.

How do you recommend cooking the alcohol out of the oil? Thanks John
Will u please do a video showing how u cook off the moisture from ur oil.
@@edwardvanhoose6764 he's already made that video

Why couldn't you use like a 700 gph electric pump as a lift pump?
2 years later and I'm still benefiting from this video. Thank you.
Love the information your bring to the people and trial and errors help everyone learn
Thanks so much for this brotha. Getting ready to convert my old gas nitrous setup to a single 94mm turbo combo on M1. This helped so much
Turbo Jon this video had so much information in it that you just learn't me something I never new! Keep up the great videos and thank you!
Thanks for watching
Great vid. Never knew the formulas for conversions. Good info....thanks
Awesome video, TJ. I love learning this stuff.

Well said Professor. Sounds like me explaining to a operator why you can't put any valve or pump on a system at the chem plant
What engine are you rocking because I won’t to know if it would be different for other engines
making about 850hp with a BBC still recommend manual fuel pump? im switching to alky this year. very new to me
The brushless pumps seem to be getting closer.

I still like compression at 9.5-10.5ish, much wider tuning window

Them enderlie pumps are great
I use brad penn 50 weight oil mixes well with methanol
Love to see more on the LS methanol setup in the old mustang as that's closer to home for me.
Thanks for the info
So if you are running a carburetor on methenol u can use a electric pump.
as long as the flow is good at your pressure
Thanks for the knowledge

Them valve covers are wicked
Thanks for the info. John, great vid. 👌
thanks
Where do you buy your methanol at for so cheap
Bobby Taylor oil in Fayetteville NC. Buy in 55 gallon drum
Vp racing is an amazing company
Very nice informative video john neet information
Or you keep it how you would set up a normal turbo car and it allows you to just run more boost safely I guess is my question
Why not double up on injectors? Improve idle and transition, plus better control on the map
yes, those work great.....but I like single if possible
@@TurboJohnRacing I hear ya. Those biggin's get sloppy and blurbery.....be nice to get some that can move volume and be nice👍

FB racing forums. They usually sell for about 1500 bucks
Don’t you need a bigger breather setup ? Great video and love your channel and all the info you share 🤘🏾
sometimes, depends on the car.
What do you think about using dual electric pumps? Similar to what you see on E85 return style systems.
could work, but i'm not a fan of multiple pumps. Aeromotive can out with some big pumps, but very expensive.
Thank you for posting this. Been looking for a while. Do you know what to do with a carb to run it?
It’s way more complicated! Takes CC a ton of work to get the carb to flow enough fuel! I would let a professional build it.

Is Alcohol and Methanol the same or different?
I think your off on the 11 gallons per hr i think you meant 11 gallons a mintue or 111 gallon an hr
What’s your opinion on running methanol on a nitrous motor?
Don't see a lot of people doing it

yes, it can work great. Second set of injectors that come on as boost climbs. Travis Quillen has mastered it!
I guess the price difference to hp gains with M5 is not worth it for you?
M5 is usually used when the power adder is maxed out and you need a little more. I'm not maxed on boost.
Where in the world were you getting M1 for $150/55gal. VP M1 is $154/15gallons
It’s gone up, now 4 bucks s gallon here. Bobby Taylor oil in Fayetteville
You forgot to mention you need a really good fire suit
And fire suppression
Love your videos!
awesome, thanks
Check out rage fuel pumps and talk to Mike that man is a walking book a knowledge great video As always John
So how many lbs. Per hour does you car use at say 7500ish under 25ish lbs??mThis has got my wheels spinning!
about 1800lbs
@@TurboJohnRacing well I guess here we go on meth!
Did they say if the new Aeromotive variable speed can keep up?
maybe, I have not seen one personally yet
Great info! I hope to trade my scat pack for a hellcat later this year and run it on E85 or better!
Maybe you need A AA meeting then if your gonna to alcohol haha lolool
We all know the oil companies are holding this technology back because ethanol is a renewable resource
