Usually ppl who *need to be on a super restrictive diet have a chronic illness and are desperate, just trying to find something they can eat without getting worse. A lot of these stupid fad diets started out as extreme food plans for severely sick ppl who could hardly eat anything. Their food plan finally made them feel better, so they let other ppl in their small chronic illness community know, and mainstream health food bloggers picked it up and spread it as a "diet". Complete misinformation. But that's how it all started out-- fyi.

As somebody who has really struggled with food for years and had a hard time eating anything because I was afraid of putting anything "unhealthy" in my body: I really love your content. It reminds me that it is so much more important to add healthy things to my diet than to subtract a bunch of stuff and under eat. It's really helped me to allow myself to satiate cravings so that I don't binge. There are people saying your approach is rude and mean and I understand where they're coming from and your content is just not for them. For me it's super important to remind myself that these different diets are detrimental to my health. There's hardly anybody out there making content like yours. Calling out the way that people who showcase these kind of eating habits for non-medical reasons encourage eating disorders. Unapologetically. Sometimes what is kind and what is true isn't always nice. And I think that's okay. Keep up the phenomenal work.

Y’all, if you wanna make cinnamon rolls “healthy,” just make sourdough cinnamon rolls. You could also try using more honey than sugar, but I don’t know how that would mix/bake 🤔… you’d almost have to use the honey that’s been sitting in the cabinet for too long and has gotten a little hard… and then they’re no longer cinnamon rolls, but more like homemade cinnamon honey buns… which still sounds delicious 😋

Turns out a balance of macro and micro nutrients is typically the best plan unless you have specific health conditions. For example Keto for managing EPILEPSY. That’s actual what keto is meant for, managing epilepsy. For most people the goal of “dieting” should be to teach yourself what a balanced diet looks and feels like and to improve your relationship to food. It feels like people are either extremely emotionally dependent on food or try to stick to such a strict diet that eating is a chore they force themselves to do. Except for their scheduled binge eating (cheat day)!

What are humans designed to eat? Here are 2 hints:
1st hint: For several decades now healthcare has told us to cut down on fats, especially saturated fats, avoid red meat, eat a diet consisting of whole grains and starches, and lots of fruits and vegetables.
Since we have followed these recommendations obesity, diabetes and a host of other diseases and chronic illness have exploded.
2nd hint: Our brains exploded. I’ll explain.
2.5 million years ago and earlier hominid fossils show that our cranial cavities remain fairly constant in size. But 2.5 million years ago our brains begain to explode in size. Growing to 4 times their ancestors size. So what happened 2.5 million years ago?
About 2.5 million years ago the world cooled down and the series of ice ages began which lasted until roughly 10k years ago. So for 2.5M years even places close the equator would have had a climate similar to that of Greenland today.
With long cold winters and short cool summers, there would have been very few plant foods for much of the year. It was inevitable that animals like reindeer, bears, rhino, mammoths had to become our prominent food source.
Ice Age animals tended to be fat, and their fat provided both insulation against the cold and energy reserves. It was this fat that humans ate that built our brains.
Animal fat is a source of ready-made long-chain fatty acids, including 20 and 22 carbon chain fatty acids like AA, DTA, EPA, DHA essential for brain development and found only in animal foods.
The longest chain in vegetable oils - linoleic acid (omega-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3) are 18 carbon fatty acids. Humans, just like all mammals can chain elongate and desaturate these to produce the longer chain fatty acids but we’re very inefficient at it.
By eating meat, we fed the brain with preformed 20 and 22 carbon fatty acids. We no longer had to endogenously synthesize these fats from the 18 carbon plant fatty acids. Our brain growth could never have happened without these fats.
Now for the scary part of the story.
10k years ago we invented agriculture at the end of the last ice age. We traded our high-energy, fat-rich foods of animal origin for grains which became our staple food.
In the last 10k years, which is basically overnight in terms of our evolutionary history, our brain has shrunk well over 10%.
I’ll let you decide what you think we are designed to eat.
Sometimes the evidence isn’t right in front of our eyes - but right behind them.

    • @bluewrites2278
      @bluewrites2278 11 месяцев назад +9

@cjbartoz In the last number of decades (beginning in the lete 40s to early 50s), the rise of ultra processed foods, both junk and ready to eat meals, along with a significant decrease in exercise in everyday life has contributed to the significance increase in metabolic disease.
Our guts and our teeth actually suggest that we evolved to eat an omnivorous diet. We have more in common with other omnivores, like bears than we do with carnivores or herbivores. Our intestines, relative to our body size, are too long for a meat only diet and too short for a plant only diet. Our teeth also have both cutting and grinding surfaces.
The increase in the size of our brain relative to the size of our body was likely due to our ancestors beginning to cook their food, which makes the nutrients more accessible for both plant and animal sources.

It'd be more accurate to say animal-based diet because most people on a diet like that are still allowing themselves some non-meat ingredients like cinnamon for example lol. And some people have good reason to go animal-based, there are certain health conditions where people can't tolerate plants very well and I am one of them. I use to be a vegetarian, I still would if I could but I can't tolerate plant foods now. I have to eat animal-based now. And trust me I've experimented enough to know what I tolerate--I didn't want to go this route 😂 Hopefully I can heal and someday enjoy plants again. It's taking forever. I'm working with practitioner and on many expensive supplements that keep me stable. If I skip a supplement, or eat more than like 1 ounce of plants, everything goes to hell for me, I itch like crazy, can't sleep, hormones messed up, blood sugar messed up etc. This been going on for a while. I previously was allowing myself some veggies because I hate eating solely animals, but I recently found I feel better when I avoid veggies completely. So I'm trying to avoid plants for a few weeks to kick start my healing, I'm also thinking oral probiotics will help and/or fermented liquids in the mouth, and coconut oil pulling. I believe the inability to tolerate plants must have something to do with the oral microbiome, since certain oral bacteria are needed for insulin regulation and nitric oxide. There are studies on this and how mouthwash can cause diabetes

humans are omnivores by nature, like many other animals. it's so wild that our species had to work for centuries to domesticate crops and food animals, and now some people just don't want to partake in entire categories of food. if you're on a restrictive diet for health reasons, that's one thing, but a lot of people in the restrictive diet communities have disordered eating patterns, control issues, anxiety issues, self-esteem issues, etc. very sad that potentially helpful habits and diets for some individuals have turned into this horrible monster of malnutrition for others.

I clicked this video thinking I'd see cinnamon rolls made out of bacon, steak, or any other meat. Some things cannot be substituted 🤦🏿‍♀️.

The closest thing to a carnivore cinnamon roll is filet mignon wrapped in brown sugar bacon.

Is... Is the cinnamon roll gonna eat me?
What does carnivorous actually *mean* in this context?
    Has it grown teeth?
I have so many questions and all of them get progressively more concerning.
