Wow perspective in sport is everything! Nice to see those ladies adjusting and performing well. but yeah that was a rough game last night especially in the second half..
That's really impressive! Li tried to express her idea without interpreters. Maybe the experience in other professional basketball leagues helped her thought in English. Respect her!
Love that Li and Aari did this post game presser. I know it must've made Li a bit nervous, but she did well. Was Li referring to Nneka Ogwumike? I could not tell who she was referring to. Both players have a lot of potential. Aari's speed and shooting, and Li's inside outside game are a definite strength. And with Brink gone Li and Dearica will be working a lot harder.
Aari looks so happy/proud watching Yueru talk and answer interview questions herself. I love it. Also. No one in the press seems to understand Li's name. Li is the family name. Yueru is her given name. Chinese name order is opposite of American. The Sparks are doing great to display her name in the proper order. But they're not doing a good job making press aware of which name is the family name and which name is the given name. Cause they're referring to Aari McDonald as Aari (given name) but referring to Li Yueru as Li (family name). The commentators for the game broadcasts have the opposite problem.
Wait, why doesn't Li have an interpreter? Was that her decision or the teams? She's such a sweet person and man did she show some significant improvement in the Seattle game. I'd hate to see that growth stifled by a lack of language support. Although, I could also see someone wanting to cut out the middle man when trying to establish a rapport with a new team.
Aari's smile of encouragement is so heart-warming!!!
I'm impressed not only by Li's game but her ability to do this without an interpreter.
I hope she gets more minutes.
