it's good to compare plugins and find the best one, Audija is my first of the 3 but after using all 3 I can say I will stick with it. I've come to love the interface & layout mostly (colors could be better and there is some wonky stuff there for sure, but that might be addressed in a next update)
Bassism rocked bodies for a long time but its nice to have so much control with its successors although with so many parameters comes the problem of geeking out to hard with kick science.
I have audija its great, i sometimes use dc snare vst with a sine wave loaded i tried it just experimenting and got great results the first thing i try with most plugins is making a kick
I was actually thinking should i go upgrade to Kick3 or wait and see Audija with what new features will come up , and then you show up with this Video to make me reconsider what to do. Great video thank you for your effort and time to catch the details , advantages and disadvantages 🕉️
I have both Kick3 & Audija. I like using Audija way more. But Kick3's import to me seems to be waaaay better. as in every kick I have dropped into it have come out near perfect! Subninja offers a lot of stuff im not interested in personally. but it could be vastly superior for making drum sounds! PsyLab I would say is the very best in Kickdrum creation.. but Windows only!
@@fallenleaf24 ive tested kickdrum2 vs kick3 on a few top tier pro kicks and audija always came out on top by far, just like in this video it gets the top end more accurate which is the hardest part to recreate, especially if they are layered with hihats or sampled clicks
@@mikeholm4455 Interesting. I will have to play more. The 30 or so Kick I have imported I have had to do way more tweaking in KickDrum than I have Kick3. not that its effort & the end result is always bang on. Then again I haven't imported any Psytrance kicks as they are easy enough to make from scratch.
I’m unfamiliar with these plugins so thank you for introducing me to them. Can these be used to supplement recordings of real drums in a mix (such as adding click or body to a recording) or are they intended primarily to generate kicks for electronic music?
its intended for making kicks but you can use it however you want, at the end its just a sine wave osc and a sampler, if you dont intend to make kicks with it you should probably just use something else since thats the main thing you pay for with these plugins
I'd say they are designed only for EDM kicks but that doesn't mean you can't design clicks or subs in them. In fact you can use kick 3 with the envelope trigger exactly for that purpose! Edit: I just realized that basically all the replies did the work for me while I was on holiday :) THX guys
Nice video. Haven't used Kick Ninja, but have Kick2/Kick3 and Audija. Both are great and Audija is probably slightly better for snappy psytrance kicks, but I just find the UI too colourful and confusing. Maybe just because I'm so much more used to Kick2/3. We're spoiled for choice these days.
We need more plugin comparations, great job :)
I'll see what I can do!
wow, ive used kick 2 for a long time but i bought audijas kickdrum after just 5 minutes of demo, so much easier to use

Bassism can still work really well especially for the stuff that draws from old school influences, modern psy just has a different sound.
Where did you get that shirt? :)
I believe WAO festival

I collect kick plugins, I enjoy the Kick Ninja most for getting a ballpark kick from a track I like. 👍

Kick3 has an inbuilt trigger function so you can use it for that!

Kickdrum2 will also soon have the ability to pitch map, so you can play higher and lower notes. Yes, color themes would be rad too.
Yeah I think all 3 plugins are still actively being worked on and will recieve updates anymore...
Since Kick 3 has been out, i think they will not update Kick 2. They probably will add a pitch map in a featured update for Kick 3.
@@GoblinGoodfella he is talking about audija kickdrum 2, not kick 2...
Good analysis, only thing about kick 3 recreation, you didn't init the preset so all the effects and EQ were still on the kick! :)
Ahh that would explain the large difference there. I do think if you analyze a sample like that the EQ should be reset automatically

KD with a dark UI would be amazing 😅
Dev has changing the colors on his roadmap.
True, that was the main takeaway from the video, just choose the interface you like most!
@BappinProductions I think that's in the works too yeah! custom colors for sure are but a build in dark mode for that would be great too!
Sonic Academy just released Kick 3 v1.1 update with several new features. Better redo the video 😋

Thats a really streamlined head you have there
I've shaved the sides of my beard for extra aerodynamics since recording this :)
Just use serum for kick
you can, but why when you have way more control with Kickdrum
Just use AcidPro
interesting way of saying "hey i am gay"
@@yeahna what?
Just have your head, a wall and recorder for kick.
