Hey Tia, great video! I visited the campus last weekend for the third time (potential transfer student) and not trying to be rude but the campus seemed kinda dead, im sure its just super chill and i am wrong but was worried now since im a very active and energetic person...does it ever get boring? Are there things to do or is it dead like i thought?
Tara Well, we are currently taking midterms right now so like I mentioned in the video, the campus energy seems a little down compared to the usual because mostly everyone is studying. Davis isn’t a huge city, so there isn’t a million things to do here, but I always say, “If Davis is boring to you, you’re hanging around boring people”. I really enjoy Downtown Davis and things on campus and have made plenty of great memories here so far :)
Thank you for the video, i know this is from a year ago but im trying to make my decision and this was really helpful insight to life on the campus. Is the quarter system difficult?
thank you! in terms of the quarter system, it definitely takes getting used to the fast pace, especially if you are relatively slow learner like me. but trust me, if i can get through it, so can you! it just takes a strong understanding of campus resources and making study groups to get you through the tougher quarters! there are plenty of tutoring resources on campus that i found to be really helpful, like the calculus room that had calc tutors during certain hours of the day, the tutors in the residence halls, and tutoring in Dutton and South Hall :)

You get a pass time assigned to you every quarter (it's found on Schedule Builder) and that is when you register. You can check the UC Davis academic calendar to see when the pass times begin to open.
Hey Tia. I was wondering if there is a required communication course in order to graduate from UCD because in my high school it offers a speech class that counts for college credits and I was wondering if you have taken it and how hard is it.
LzyLuek For my major, there is and I haven’t taken it yet, so i can’t speak on the difficulty. I would schedule an appointment with your major advisor because they’ll be able to tell you what credits transfer and what they affect.

It just depends on how often you want to go home. If you don't mind being away from home for weeks/sometimes months, then being further away isn't really going to be that bad.
I am so sad that I just got rejected to ucsb. I got into ucd and I am happy about it but I still don't know if ucd is for me I'm from LA and its so far!

Any transportation tips for students coming from LA to Davis? I know there’s a bus that travels around 6 hours from LA to Sacramento, but do you know of any other options?
softjimin there’s a ride-share page in Facebook. It’s like students that offer rides to other students. I use it to go home :,D there are many people that go to LA a lot :,)

softjimin yes! It is ! And it’s pretty safe :,) I always use it . Right now they aren’t allowing posts because of the coronavirus thing though

No, the dorms do not come with microwaves or fridges. I know Student Housing offers a microwave/fridge combo that you can purchase upon moving in.

Pro Tip: Live in Segundo best dorming area in Davis haha
