Thanks so much for subscribing and for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I put in at Buckville on the north side of the lake. It has good access, it’s not hard to get to, and overnight parking is not a problem.

Thanks for the great video! I'm planning to drive up there from New Orleans at the end of the month (August) for a 4 day canoe camping trip. My goal is to escape the city and oppressive heat. It was so reassuring to see you being comfortable in those conditions. Where did you launch from? I was planning to start at the Buckville public use area. I want to do some fossil hunting on the north end of the lake.
Buckville was my launch point! It’s a great spot to start an adventure, and there’s a free first come-first served campground there if you arrive late at night and need a place to park yourself before heading out on your adventure. I parked at the Buckville Recreation Area on this trip, but there are other access points on the lake. I generally just check the recreation areas’ websites to see what is available.
Do you recall where you parked to access the lake? I have a kayak and hope to do this sometime in the near future. I saw another video where someone camped at a free Army Corps of Engineers location on the far west end of the lake and then paddled out to some islands.
