What a real sweetheart! Julia Ormond has a very unique acting and beauty that I have never seen before. It's a shame that the movie is too tragically sad to watch...
It’s so sad it makes it real. It’s about family, learning who you, accepting you and those I. Your circle. It’s about loyalty, love, and all the pain the must come with it. And somehow, we continue on …
We all fell in love with Tristan. He was wild, reckless, and untamed. He represented that part of us that longs to be free and follow our hearts and our passion. I often wonder, how many baby boys born in the time of this movie, were named, “Tristan”?
I actually never liked him particularly. He was lawless and "exciting" - typical bad boy. Train wreck for everybody. Thanks to their oldest brother at the end, they have some form of happy-ending. Romanticizing such type of reckless excitement is wrong and led us to where we are now - declining society with many single mothers fall for the same "Tristan" over and over again.
Mary Miller I think Tristan was also falling in love and he did but his conscience was eating up on him. She was his brother’s bride to be and he loved his brother so much.
But it is technically wrong for two reasons. The first is she was either shooting with the wrong eye closed, or holding the rifle on the wrong side. The second is after she shot the gun, there was no longer a live round in the chamber and therefore no reason to duck.
Having watched this film several times my perspective have changed regarding the alleged love triangle between Susanna, Tristan & Alfred. I think that Tristan cared about Susanna primarily because she was Samuel's fiancé however I don't think that Tristan ever loved her. I believe the entire time Alfred was jealous that Susanna & Tristan were attracted to each other & that they got physical sooner rather than later. I think that Susanna was greatly infatuated with Tristan not in love considering that he was a man unlike anything she'd ever met. I also think that Susanna was never in love with Samuel but did care about him. I think she was only engaged to him because he would've made a suitable spouse. Mind you back in those days it was still very rare for people to marry for love. Marriages of financial convenience was the norm in those days.
I agree. She married Alfred for the same reason and the fact she had nowhere else to go. She had no family left, probably no money, Alfred was the obvious choice.
Let's agree to disagree. I've watched the movie many times and I think it's made clear that all 3 brothers were in love with Susannah. They just have different personalities / priorities meaning they treated her very differently. Her heart and interest was clearly with Tristan the whole time, even when he gets married. The movie as a whole centralizes Tristan & Susannah as the tragic lovers.
Infatuation passes in like 6 months. She spent the rest of her life in love with him. He loved her but was too damaged to be what she needed. They are a tragic love story about soulmates who can never find the right time to be together.
@@laurendiehl2216 that is grossly incorrect. Infatuation can last for years especially if the person accepts their fantasy over reality. For example; Susanna ignored Tristan's grief. This is proven when Tristan returns the second time with obvious intentions of marrying her because now in sane mind, he believed they would be able to be together. He even goes to speak with her, not his brother and when he sees her in the garden, you can see it in his face how much he still loves her and even more so as he explains to her the reasoning behind sending her the bracelet while persuading her to keep it. The tristan character overall was contradictory. I know many women married to a real tristan and he isn't like the movie made him to be. Nor are those men attracted to children lol. Isabel had issues and I found it wrong for the writers to have included her. This could still have been the tragedy they wanted but it sadly didn't flow.
I suggest you watch a river runs through it. It is a great film and James's music would have fared better there.
@@cocodakilla you again??!!hahaha!! I had been reading your comments and hate towards isabel..You must have been so heartbroken when your favorite character susannah was rejected by tristan. Just accept the truth that susannah is dead and unloved by tristan..geez, u r so desperate..
@@cocodakilla Isabel arrogant? Do you mean the native girl? I don't remember he arrogant, in fact I found her sweet
@@MsChinggay85 She is not unloved by Tristan, but he feels guilty

True cowboys ride with feet out front, like a Harley, no matter what the gate. I rode with the last real cowboy. Butt never left the saddle!
No one in movies rides correctly.
No one cares. It's not a documentary on horseback riding.
@@ASMRyouVEGANyet lol. The horse cares!

Brad Pitt at his hottest.
3 brothers who all wants 1 women 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

these brothers and old man live very isolated lives and seems like they never had seen woman or beautiful woman before ! all comes to her, and she made bad choice ! i would say that susannah character.. is not good woman.
Brad Pitt is a beautuful man like Rob Lowe, but with a couple of acne scars.
