- Wayne Kusy has spent the past 50 years building huge scale ships using nothing but toothpicks. His armada has grown to include 11 ships in all including the truly mind blowing Queen Mary. Measuring in at 25ft long, this toothpick boat took over 5 years to build and has over 815,000 toothpicks. Other ships include the Titanic (75,000 toothpicks), The Lusitania (197,000 toothpicks), and The America (275,000 toothpicks). Between his job as a full time IT worker, Wayne makes custom yachts for clients all around the world. For more about Wayne, you can check his website and facebook here:

Absolutely amazing. My grandad watched the QM being built in Scotland as a youth. fair few more toothpicks required hey? lol , just astonishing work
Wayne is awesome. I'm friends with him on Facebook. Sent him some newspaper articles a few years ago from UK a few years ago.
He sent me a mini Titanic he made :)
That's awesome :D
YOOO YOU TO :D
Ok I’m having a rough weekend and this made me cry. Silly, I know. What a talented, patient, and kind man. I saw another commenter say he’d sent him a mini replica in exchange for sending him some articles. The world needs more humans like Wayne!
Nothing wrong with being moved by something impressive or inspiring.
I'm slicing onions over here myself. Don't worry !
Get yourself some toothpicks and glue and find happiness. ;)
W
Some human beings are so creative and so talented that it defies logic.
This guy is one of those humans. Gobsmacked at his work.
Agree! His patience to build, let alone let the glue dry while he's doing it is astounding!
Some folks are blessed with the patience and grit necessary to accomplish anything .,,,had I tried to copy Wayne I'd have 10 unfinished pieces of junk in my house....this somewhat crazy guy is an inspiration!
“People think I’m crazy.. I just say, ‘yeah’” 🤷♂️
Best reaction.
Focus. Commitment. Will. This man is the Wick of Toothpick. What an absolute Legend
Probably one of the healthiest addictions ever. Love it❤
This dude's patience is seriously admirable. Amazing works of art.
I don’t know what’s more amazing. Building those works of art or keeping track of how many toothpicks it took to build.
Also, I bet there’s never any food stuck in his teeth.
Bro's out here keeping the toothpicks industry alive💀
This man is a genius, he is humble and just so talented...those boats / ships are works of art. So, so inspiring.
twenty years ago people probably laughed, today , he is inspiring and amazing. Talent IS cool, very cool. Patience is a virtue.
Well said!
This man is a true artist and beautiful human. the part where his tools got trapped in the Queen Mary is one of the best things I've ever heard and his Wood Zeppelin animation is movie quality.
His work is impressive. Love his dedication to his art.
No wonder the toothpick companies have managed to stay in business.
Phenomenal works of art. I can't imagine the patience it takes to spend over a year on each ship. This is truly a cool way to spend your time. I'd love the opportunity to be able to own one of his builds. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Super cool. Back in the mid-eighties, Kusy made some of the best rock and roll I’ve ever heard!
Wayne,
Have you considered to use thin flat sticks..like the disposable coffee stirrers you see at the coffee bar on the corner convenience store? You could bend and form them easier than tooth picks. And you could apply waterproof resin to the finished product and paint it. Try it out.
considering he has a full time job,
he is building these massive models incredibly fast.
What a cool character! May he build many more ships, before his time comes.
Extreme skills.
God bless.
He gives off James Halliday from Ready Player One vibes. Just a sweet old man makin' his way downtown, walkin' fast, faces passed and he's homebound.
dun nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh.
If he can do this with toothpicks, imagine what he could do with popsicle sticks!
Or 2x4's
i don't think he would want that , his art expressions are for toothpicks.
He's crazy alright. Crazy passionate.
I haven't even seen the video and that is awesome.
It's a good one! One of the most interesting characters we've featured as well.
@@CoolestThing to what i see in the thumbnail its the rms Queen Mary and i make similar scale model ships but in lego
Very cool stuff! Love it !@@jcbstauffer5720
I'm literally speechless.
God bless this man !
He is a gift to humanity.
What an awesome dude! A beautiful creative mind!
I LIVE IN CHICAGO ILLINOIS ALSO AND IV’E NEVER HEARD OF THIS MAN It has to take a lot of patience to do what he does 👍🏻 I could never have enough patience to do what he does
Dang! I thought I was something putting together the Revel? Queen Mary umpteen yrs ago.I did a good job which I am proud of but gheez this guy starts from scratch..much respect your creations are amazing!
@Wayne Kusy Well done for being featured on here! You must be really proud of yourself and your creations.
He needs to get into the RC stuff!
Imagine actualy sailing those
Dude….you ARE a ROCK STAR !!
It's amazing, would you be available on a Wednesday evening for dinner with some friends? They would be thrilled to hear about your accomplishments 😏
I’ve been looking for a comment like this hahaha
Wayne, you're amazing! I've seen this guy around, he's the real deal. Genius! Thanks for another amazing episode Coolest Thing! Love your channel.
The ship he did at 11 years old is very impressive, he is the best in the world at something, that's pretty cool.
It's great to see someone with passion for something your never even thought existed.
Agree! Well said!
This man has a refreshing aura.
I think it's the water, not the seaman
Genius, absolute artistry snd the patience of Job.
A great ship modeler and a great musician also ! Well done Wayne !👌👍
WOW ! True passion, devotion, talent !
I made ships but not in that great amount of detail! Great work!
Absolutely jaw dropping! Looks like the real thing. I`m working on the Bridge on the river Kwai, but it`s only 4 feet long.
Wait, this man has been doing these, since the 1970's??? How come he, doesn't look a day, over 35🤨⁉️
45 minimum 😂 35?!? 😂😂😂😂
Because he’s doing what he loves
This man has incredible skill and imagination! A truly talented Artist!
How incredible! What a fantastic man with a real passion and skill.
This guys a multi-talented legend.
There is no such word as Legos. It is Lego or Lego bricks.
What an incredible dedication to his art. Fantastic build.
Wonderful amazing work! Wayne's attention to detail, persistence and the ability to do tedious work for hours at a time takes a special person.
I wish he could exhibit his 25 foot Queen Mary on the actual Queen Mary in Long Beach, California.
Absolutely awesome, the patience this had to have taken. Iv always enjoyed model building and I once started building a ship in a bottle and lost interest. This inspired me to take it up again. Dug out the tweezers and carving knives. 😊
Amazing. I used to be an ok model builder - did a really nice job a few times. I would never want to bother with anything like this, but it's still amazing.
Wayne, Was your great, great, great, great grandfather named Noah? Wonderful work. Bravo!
This dude is one unique human. Glad I watched this, pretty neat stuff!
What a great guy ,I admire his dedication
I love the RMS Queen Mary. I think a lot more than the Titanic
I wouldn't want the pressure of carrying those models down those stairs!
The Cutty Sark was pretty sweet.
He took his passion and turned it into commissions.
He's been lauded in the news.
He's also in a rock band.
He holds down a full time job.
Others may ridicule a seeming lack of socializing. But he apparently doesn't need or cares about that.
This is beyond amazing
So thrilled to hear this is in Illinois, i will definitely be planning my trip to see his masterpiece replica of the queen Mary
Wow you are extremely talented m8, that Queen Mary is impressive, well done.
WHAT A GIFT
really cool guy with great humor - such awesome fun results!!
Fricken DOPE!! Love Wayne's passion & commitment to his craft as well as the badass stop motion video! P.s.: I'm also a fan of early steam ships like the Queen and their amazing history.
I think with a little sand paper you wouldnt be able to tell, but its also neat that you can see that its toothpick 👍
Amazing work. I used to work on the Queen Mary when I lived in Long Beach.
I think he could pass for Norm McDonald’s brother.
Very cool. Love his artwork
Coolest stuff I’ve ever seen online!
This guy has been given a unique gift from God.
Imagine what's going to happen when this guy finds out that timber comes in other sizes.
És um grande artista parabéns pelo seu trabalho
Very impressive! The man definitely has skills!
The ships are amazing!
Wayne is the most even keeled dude I've ever seen!
Those are amazing!
Do they float..
Lol these look absolutely amazing.
You make the World a better place!
Genuine American Artist.
amazing job ,you are the best , thx for resumen👌👌👌👌👍
I knew a dude in high school that made a 14' replica of the Queen Mary. He launched it in Long Beach Harbor the same day they opened the real Queen Mary cruise liner for tourists.
Wow i thought yankee stadium model was incredible..this might be right up there with his work the queen mary is incrdible
My kind of crazyness. Amazing work.❤
This model ship museum needs a bigger building.
This is frackin' awesome.
Yep, totally insane, but absolutely in a good way. :)
This is amazing and what a character! Best of luck in the future, and to many more projects. Shipwright.....
Truly impressive!
Obviously playing with toothpicks keeps you looking young
"Man, I'm getting good at this!" - 😂
That's so cool.
This is amazing. Props to Wayne!! Amazing work!!!!!!!
Hell yeah. Pretty cool stuff
Wow! Amazing masterpiece! 😍👍
Right on - 😁😁😁- JPL
dude has good taste
Made a small sailboat, years ago, out of coffee stiring sticks. But nowhere near this scale.
Hey Wayne, you might wanna invest in a toothpick making machine and make your own toothpicks maybe even some glue and paint as well.😊
Cool hobby. Toothpicks are a good medium for old wooden ships for sure. They don't translate well to the modern fiberglass boats though.
Really good for you!!
I love the Wood Zeplin.
