I think the beauty of music is that it can be interpreted in different ways based on our own experiences. Loved your reaction ❤️
The Truth Untold is actually based on an Italian short story called "La Citta di Smeraldo". The lyrics would actually make soo much more sense once you read the story. The "I still want you" doesn't suggest a toxic relationship or anything. In the story the protagonist actually finds out the girl whom he loved died and he never got the courage to express himself to her because he didn't love himself enough. The entire core of BTS series is "Love yourself"
The blue flower here isa reference to the "Smeraldo flower" which you can see in a lot of BTS MVs
It's not an Italian short story. It's a story written by BigHit for the storyline, just based in Italy.
Overall I think the meaning of the song is “You can’t love someone else if you can’t love yourself first” and it’s probably my favorite song from the vocal line, even if 00:00 o’ clock is up there too
I am going through a very difficult time in my life right now and seriously don't know how I started listening to BTS for over a week now, even though I have known about them for years now. Its really true when ARMY says you don't find BTS, BTS finds you. They do find you when you need them the most. Never believed in miracles. Now I do!!

This song is based on a story about a guy who, I believe had a burned face and thought he was ugly so he wore a mask and hid. A lady kept stealing his flowers and he got mad, but he found out she was stealing his flowers to to sell for money because she was poor. As he was watching and seeing her, he fell in love with her but didn’t have the courage to face her so he created a really rare and expensive flower (blue flower) so she could sell it and get tons of money. However she never showed up and he realized she died and he didn’t have the chance to face her. He lost his chance because he was scared to face her. (ARMY please correct if I got the story wrong)

I remember being at their concert in amsterdam in 2018, on the seats closest to the stage but all the way to the right side and not being able to see them during this song because they were too far back and the screens were blocking my vision🤣 they sang well but I was standing there like 😅😅😅😅
Taking about "I still want you" line. Everyone can interpret differently based on theirs experiences, but this story doesn't have 'bad'/'toxic' relationships in that aspect. Just one person who was scarred by other people malice and made believe that hes not good enough as he is. And because he feels unworthy as he is and still wanting her, instead of showing his true self, he puts a mask and acts as those people deem he need to be like with her. Which wouldn't ever work and didn't at the end. That's why that line "What if I got my courage (and showed my true self) things would be different now?"
It's one of my fav songs! And seeing a live performance of it is a must. They are so emotional singing to this one.

It is possible to feel extreme loneliness outside of romantic relationships as well. One could live with family members and feel like they don't exist outside of when that family needs something from you. I know this too well. When I was seven years old I wrote a poem called Loneliness. We have to, each of us, find a way to connect with people who WANT us around and ENJOY our company. Anything less is not worth your time or energy.

I absolutely love this song! It’s about how, by hiding our true selves and maybe holding onto pain, we either push people away or by the time we notice how much they meant to us, it might be too late. It’s from the Love Yourself era, and this song is right in the middle of feeling worthless and undeserving of love. They acknowledge those feelings in such a beautiful way and are trying to tell us to take off the mask and love ourselves. Their albums always have a story and should be listened in order. This song goes right next to Fake Love and a bit before Epiphany (Seesaw and Tear are between TTU and Epiphany).

Definitely a top 10 song for me. When you have a chance watch one of their live performances- the emotion is dialled up to 100. It’s one of the songs which I believe always sounds better live than their (still beautiful) studio version. I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

This song always gets me. It's not necessarily about manipulative or deceitful people, but more of a person hiding aspects of themselves to fit or make someone else happy. The love yourself Tear album is about that darker aspect of not being yourself to find love. Love Yourself:HER starts the series with falling in love and the happy, euphoric side of love which they portray with songs like DNA. Tear, shows the negativity and opposite side with songs like Fake Love, Truth Untold, etc. Answer I'd the conclusion where they realize that you must love yourself, be true to yourself, if you want to find love in others. Epiphany is the intro to the album and is literally that message, along with tracks like Idol, Answer: Love Myself (a reversal of the album love yourself answer)
This is again more of a loving someone, but hiding it for them and their sake. But you still love them and want to be with them. I recommend listening to Tears first seven songs in order with the lyrics from Dulset to get the message of it.

I think that they created this song to emphasize the importance of loving yourself. BTS created the story that the song is supposed to be based on, as well as the song. The story is just a version of Beauty and the Beast but with a sad ending. The girl got sick and died and the man was left alone. If he had been able to stand in front of her and she had accepted him, then he possibly could have saved her and they could have been together. Now, he'll never know and it was because he didn't love himself and couldn't take a chance and let her see the real him.
