- I had more trouble with barre chords than probably any other guitar player on the planet. But learning this one song was the trick that ended up making them feel easy.

I really do like your videos. Short, funny and on point. I learned classical guitar, paused for 12 years and I want to resume it again. However, I want to learn it in a systematic way, starting from the basics and in a systematic way and also consider rhythm, ear training, etc. With your knowledge now, how would you start to learn guitar again? I like your style of editing but I think a lot of people would appreciate it if you held the chord progression on screen all at once for more than .5 seconds. Trying to pause on all the frames to get the charts down for refresh was painful
Just go to settings and adjust playback speed to be slower

what? people do use the c shape higher up the neck, say under the bridge uses D major in that position for the intro

1. Try playing Am E F C in sequence until you get the hang of it.
2. Once you are more confortable, try holding the same shapes, but barring the first fret, so A#m F F# C#
3. F# is the same as F, but it starts on the second fret, so it's good for training sliding from one barre chord to another.
The rest of the video is about how the chords are kinda similar to a Weezer song, some jokes, and the explanation that the first exercise is easier than the second one. Hope I was able to help.

If you want to challenge yourself, try playing the verse and chorus of the song From Eden by Hozier. If you can play this consistently, then you've basically mastered barre chords imo.
Exactly what i'm doing haha. Maybe in a few weeks i'll get them down and the guitar will really open up :D

I play a classical guitar with a wider neck and wider frets. So yeah, I can't mute the low E string with my thumb while playing a barre chord (my hands are too small.) I just don't play that string, see if there's another way to play the chord, or see if I can time my chord changes to play the note in between chords (if that makes sense.)
