The context of these skits are that Tim and Eric were so sick of Shrek the Third's marketing they decided to make their own counter advertisements. Quite admirable.
Chris is perfect for this project because he did a voice on Shrek 2 and he knows the whole system and how it goes and the comedy and the different timing for animation
They confirmed in a stream that Dreamworks had no involvement, they’d sometimes just put out ads as jokes. They did similar stuff for Papa Johns and Red Lobster.
Can't believe it's been so long since Shrek the Third "swamped" the box office! Such a genre-defining film that really turned the industry on it's head. The way it looked introspectively at movies and film in general changed the way a lot of people saw movie-making. A masterpiece like this comes once in a generation, once for a form of media even. Sequels are almost never as good as the first, let alone a third installment, but the Shrek franchise manages to top itself nearly every time. This work of art will always have a special place in my heart. Go Shrek!
"you know, Shrek has been a part of our lives for 6 years now, and to see a third installment coming out is just..... " -Tim Hidecker I could not agree more
funny how this aged, the 2014-2017 meme era was horrible while shrek is looked back on as a good movie only really hated by bitter millenials who despise all cgi
"...we're gonna have a great time WATCHING the voices of mike meyers, eddie murphy, cameron diaz, and just timberlake" seems like such an On Cinema line lol
+Daniel Williams Replacing words that rhyme with ogre with "ogre" is not something created by the meme; it's been a thing in Shrek marketing since the beginning.
Jake TVSalesman their style of editing is mimicked an awful lot, their absurdist humor is still echoing through RUclips, their sketches and songs are basically ripped off by youtubers, some of the channels i can think off are h3h3, Sam Hyde and deathtrips, the thing is tho, its all just underground humor and will always be that, only the surface doesn't notice who pioneered it
This was such an amazing bit, I remember it confusing the hell out of people when they were doing it, but I loved it so much. So overwrought, so much transparent and hokey. I definitely can not recommend this video enough. I say make a tradition out of, get the whole family in on out, you're guaranteed to share some laughs and have a good time. Now let me continue to tell you how much I love this sschraaack crap every day for the following month.
It would be awesomesauce to have Grum (see 9:16) make a sweet cameo and say something really positive about Shrek 3, as if he's taking a vacation from his typically "grum"py attitude and completely unaware that anyone might consider him a much more minor and insignificant green ogre.
I heard Tim say on his podcast that they made this after seeing so many ads for Shrek 3 around LA. They hated it so they went back to their studio and filmed this. As a movie fan, this is accurate for really bad movies. I think studios over promote them because they know it'll suck and they want to compensate for the loss.
I missed the whole Shrek train when it originally rolled through so now I'm trying to catch up. Really excited for this one, it really looks full of enthusiasm!
Sounds like Disney hit it out of the park again! Paramount pictures should keep up the good work. I'm gonna get Sheri the Third today at BlockBuster! THANKS TIM &ERIC!

I thought it was some adult swim promo I missed where every side was in on the joke, but this makes it even funnier, bless you
Chris is perfect for this project because he did a voice on Shrek 2 and he knows the whole system and how it goes and the comedy and the different timing for animation
tim and eric did shrek memes before it was cool
True
THEY WERE THE FORERUNNERS OF THE MOVEMENT
I think the memes came from this
It was ONLY cool when they did it.
The Honorable Reverend Addison Bortion no that was Cboyardee
“I have a crush on his beautiful green wife that has those green babies on there”
He put those green babies in her.
1:30 the film is fymahrbulous!
@@BrucknerMotet How did he manage to mess up almost every phrase he said here
@@jjoseph8276including stumbling on his own name lol gotta love David
One of miyazakis best films. To me its not even a movie its a film.
TheRoachKing best Miyazaki game!
It was a bit weird to see five orgy scenes in a Miyazaki movie, but the Grum cameo was worth it
when you've got movies like shrek in them, you can't lose.
RIP Tom Cruise Heidecker. :( such a shining boy. taken too soon
Skip it
Shrek In Them is a great movie!
take your Dr. San hassling somewhere else Gregg fan boi
DID YOU JUST
i wouldnt be surprised if dreamworks didnt even have a clue tim and eric were promoting this at all. You were the best.
David said that it's a Disney movie. I think he would know.
That's one luck duck!
I heard they got a cease and desist
They confirmed in a stream that Dreamworks had no involvement, they’d sometimes just put out ads as jokes. They did similar stuff for Papa Johns and Red Lobster.
They knew someone on the Shrek crew, some people down there SEEN them, but they didn't care enough to shut it down lol.
These guys don't give a single shit. I love them.

The amount of people wanting to see Shrek 3 was ogre-whelming
Wow! I can't wait for May 18th!

6:28 They greenscreened a greenscreen studio, thats a nice touch. :D
Brilliant.

My favorite thing about this is the completely unrelated and unacknowledged Ford and Papa Johns logos
And Expedia
Watching this in 2015 was funny. Watching this in 2020 is chilling, given the climate in which we market movies/films now.
And I know what you’re thinking:
“I’ll go see it next week” Or “I’ll wait for the DVD to come out”
THAT’S NOT GONNA WORK.
you should see that new movie SHRET
Disney did a wonderful job
It's an Emergency! A Real Emergency! You've gotta see Shret tonighT!
Famarvulous
best movie Disney ever made
SHRET?
Eric looks unusually fluffy and cuddly here.
Tim and Eric predicted a meme 6 years before it happened. They're that good.
I love memes
Chilli Wilson me me I'm a mememan
Cactus Coe me, I'm a pro as heck memer
nope This meme has been alive for a while
Thecrackhead CHJ hey what about this meme
I love how generic and glib everything they're saying is. It's why it's so perfect in it's parody x
Wow, it's impressive that they made the trailers able to be viewable on a mobile phone! Disney really outdid themselves with this one, great job.
"hi my name is david h-ha-heart. liebe hart. and you should see that new movie Shthret. it is fi-marvulous."
I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS KIND OF ACTIVITY IN 100 YEARS
😳
I can't even imagine how excited these two wonderful boys would be if they make a fourth Shrek movie.
I really hope they do, I would love to see what my favorite characters are up to now. #GiveUsShrek4
David Liebe Hart has a crush on Fiona
Well, he's been with an insect woman, so an ogre isn't too much of a stretch for him.
Woozle Hello, new OTP!
And pruppet
They saw the meme potential of Shrek years before the internet. Legends.
Sinbad: Legend of The Seven Seas
It's amazing we lived in a time before shrek was on!!
Tim's eyes and eyebrows are masterful comedy in and of themselves
"...we're gonna have a great time WATCHING the voices of mike meyers, eddie murphy, cameron diaz, and just timberlake" seems like such an On Cinema line lol
tim is so handsome in this one
Absolutely a five-bagger, without a doubt in my mind.
I can't believe Tim and Eric created the Shrek meme
I'm so glad Tim & Eric got the word out about this wonderful art house film.
I'm dissapointed that James Quall didn't say anything about spaghetti and meatballs.
From Grum!
"Cingular" nostalgia hit me right there
Honestly pretty crazy that Shrek has been in our lives for almost 6 years now
The first movie came out the year I was born. I'm the youngest student at my college.
@goatwarrior3570 So you’re 6 years old?

thanks for clarifying. I was really confused
I love the movie Shret.
The madlads literally predicted the Star Wars/Marvel podcasts filled with sponsors
I wouldn't be surprised if this started the Shrek counter culture.
I think it did, Tim and Eric pioneered a lot of the Internet humor and don't get enough credit
im not disagreeing with you but what else? other than sit on you
Vaporwave, don't deny it.

***** Was the whole Shrek internet craze before or after this? Were Tim and Eric responsible for that?
I've been watching this way too often lately..like once a week. I really need to find other ways to deal with my crippling depression
i dont know how they do it but they have managedd to make this soo condecending that you dont want to watch shrek
And then the puppet guy went on to be in Shrek Retold, what an absolute legend.

"You know tim shrek is a sophisticated film I'm not even gonna call it a movie" greatest line of all time lol
This isn't an ad for Tim Shrek, goofball... It's for Shrek 3!

Congratulations Chris ya did it!
I lost it when they green screened in a green screen studio
OMG did he just say, "go on the innernet"? Well I'm glad i got the 'Innernet' disc! I won't have to go to the theater and pay
1:23 I think that guy was one of the collaborators on Shrek Retold. It came full circle.
These promos have more staying power than the Shrek movies.

This shit is so great. All about how degrading and stupid advertising and media culture can be
The Eric commercial at 1:43 is the funniest thing I have ever seen.
Interesting how Tim and Eric have made stuff about both Shrek the third and Saints row the third
this was really helpful. thank you tim and eric!
I can’t decide if I want to go see this movie this weekend. They forgot to include the length of the film.
this one's gonna knock your socks oss
euphoric commercial
I can almost guarantee that they never went to see it!

Maybe they did though, especially if they have kids. :)

No way, they are totally trolling it, hard.
Vacuumscam Well their Totinos commercial/endorsement, is legit, so why not this??
NawticJ
They kept going on about it being a Disney movie, when it was Dreamworks! lol
Vacuumscam I did not realize that. LOL
I love how they do this
They literally did this if they were 100 percent legit promoting the film in a serious manner. I mean I get it, but ya know...
The promo edited like a telethon for charity is where it became brilliant.
Funny how years later, David would be apart of “Shrek Retold”
