Shitty, ridiculous, condescending advertisement after advertisement delivered by pseudo-punks in cargo shorts with wallet-chains who have no idea how to appeal to kids. The MTV I know and love.
This bit and Beaver Boys are probably my favorite Tim and Eric acts. I grew up during that early to mid 2000's MTV bullshit and they perfectly encapsulate how ridiculous and silly TV was then. It's like some sort of inverse nostalgia. I hate it so much I love it.
I saw them live close to a decade ago and I was so excited when they came out as Jim and Derrick. Even they looked like they were trying hard not to laugh. T&E have some classics but Jim and Derrick are their best in my opinion.
pbradford021 how do you denote the years 2000-2010? Frankly it's not much of an issue because nobody talks about the century of the 2000s, they say 'the 21st century'
Factoid: Jim & Derrick was a rib on the "changes" that MTV wanted them to make when the show was being entertained by the network prior to them landing on Adult Swim. Source: WTF with Marc Maron podcast
So, I came back here and watched the video again and went down to the comment section to say "Who needs the fuckin' chip? You just get the dust." and realized I already said that a year ago so... mission accomplished!
I remember the first time I saw the Jim and Derrick skit on TV, I couldn't believe what I was seeing, it was so funny I couldn't even laugh I was floored
Oh my goodness, that cowboy hat, bandana combo gave me some serious "Rock of Love" flashbacks. What a train wreck of a show that was, and I loved every minute of it.
This gives me much happiness. When the Jim and Derrick Show first appeared many years ago, I was so into it that I even made fan art in Photoshop and uploaded it to Comedy Central's Web site when they called for fan art submissions. I am very pleased to learn the Jim and Derrick characters were not a one-time-only thing. Those guys rule.
Apparently I was so zone blazed when I watched this that I don't even have any memory of this video at all. I get to watch it for the first time again.
I just beat Yoshi's Island for the millionth time (and 100%ed it for the first time... I think), and noticed a name in the credits that I had never noticed before...Derek Whipple, in the special thanks section. A bunch of Japanese names and then fuckin' Derek Whipple. I was totally wiggin out man
+xjohncashinx it's the industry they get around a lot and have many friends since they are young that's why average joe push pennies can't get a dime #Trump2016
This could air, unedited, as a real show on MTV.
kev3d Jim and Derrick was a rib on the changes MTV wanted them to make when their show was pitched to the network prior to it landing on Adult Swim.
damn i never knew that, interesting
theyre both white though
@@NormanNC this is how many white people were in the early 2000s.
I love Eric getting serious about the contrast and anti glare on the DVD
its important business

The MTV I know and love.
Shaddap bitch!!!! You fucking take back what you said about wallet-chains right now!!!!
They should officially change "telescope" to "peep dip" in the dictionary.
+Bob Snow it was sick tight BO BO !!
+Baba Bootay 0:32 The inordinate amount of effort it takes Derrick to look down at Jim's arm XD
I use that term when I need to inspect anything with any instrument lolol

Even the spaghett thing legit seems like something that woulda been on at like 7 on a weekday on abc or some shit
AGREED! I grew up in the late 90s early 2ks, and this gives me MTV, Adult Swim and Cable TV era vibes.
I'd agree but I'm too Zone Blazed to care bruh

I keep watching this again and again. It's very sublime commentary on the inarticulate meaningless of the culture that's being parodied.
