For the most part, other than omissions for keeping to time constraints, the anime is following the manhwa more closely than the light novel. So it seems to me they're using the manhwa as the base for the anime rather than the light novel.
I'll just say that in ep4 jinwoo did say that he was comparable to gunhee (which Cha confirmed later), and gunhee is absolutely not in his prime, meaning that jinwoo still is not leagues above S ranks (and is not yet at gunhee's prime). S ranks are also like s rank heroes in opm, where someone like tatsumaki is leagues above someone like metal bat despite both being S ranks. There is a wide strength gap.
15:51 I love how you mentioned this cause there is an on going still in production series based after the original book series called: solo leveling ragnarok that specifically brings to light these kind of topics and much more. I'm not going to spoil nothing for not even the anime is half way through the books and what not but I think this book and idea is really cool! Fyi this sequel book is canon and made by the same creators
Another fact about Baek the white tiger guild. In s1 during an interview he was revealed to be a firefighter prior to being a hunter. Says a lot about his character already in my eyes.
20:42 I'm not sure if people missed this but in the episode where Jinwoo kills Dungsuk its sort of implied he's losing some of his emotions and in the scenes where he's looking at the mirror after the red gate he also said "thats 3 now" implying he's killed 3 human but he feels nothings. i think the anime is trying to add a risk to the system, which is the more Jinwoo levels up, the more emotions he loses. this is just my theory, though.
They did cut out in the Red Gate Arc, he mentioned he had to do his exercise, which is what he did before he went to the Bear Cave. S-Ranks are good at fighting, but again, the understanding of gates was 'strike teams' or 'guild raids'. There was hardly ANY 'soloing' and it was literally unheard of. At the same time, one of the reasons the Jeju Island gate was 'out of control' was the fact there wasn't enough high rankers to deal with the number of people involved. And no, Hyejee Park did not show up until Episode 5. Aninews just references the 'popularity' regarding being a hunter, like Cha Haein in episode one was getting crowded because people recognized her. A minor reminder to Luke - Baek was also a former Firefighter, so he has some morals based on that. The likely reason it was left out was it wasn't necessary, but story wise, it is helpful. In the Manwha, it is obvious as they show the news report about the red gate, as a note. The Manwha, however, never showed the stuff the Anime had, where Baek and Choi's chat in season one, so basically season one implies some of this, assuming you remember it. For the Manwha readers, this was never shown, it was more showing that Hwang saw that Ilwhan's relation was with Jin Woo, which is where Hwang's arrogance allowed him to have a 'way to get revenge' for his brother, in this case, Ilwhan being related to Jin Woo. And in the Manwha, he told Ilwhan his son was dead. Also, in the Manwha, Hwang WAS in Korea for the red gate, again, cause he wanted to get a hold of Jin Woo, although didn't explain why he didn't pursue Jin Ho. But he decided to go back because Jin Woo was in a red gate and most likely would be dead, based on the fact Jin Woo was still regarded as an E-Rank. What is not mentioned here is the whole Ant situation is literally a dungeon break with insects. We aren't told exactly 'what came through' boss-wise, other than the fact it is overruned with ants. Short of spoiling this, think of it this way. In an infestation situation, where do 'ants' come from? And also, given the ants are 'evolving', even with magic, evolution does not happen simply by 'will' or in this case, magic. So the question is, what other means do living creatures 'evolve' or continue to swarm? In the Manwha, they show him with reactions as well, such as when Iron went nuts smashing Bakara multiple times in the ground where he said, "You're going to be trouble..." And what was missing was also Igris doing a sigh at Iron there too. And a reminder to Luke, when Jin Woo left the red gate, when Baek grabbed his shoulder, in the Manwha, Baek felt that when Jin Woo shook off his hold on his shoulder, Baek got the impression that he might lose his arm. This was the instinct he got as an S-Rank. Well mind you, Luke - Jin Woo has a mission, which is to get the ingredients for that Elixir of Life, so he wanted to not only get stronger, but to get stronger to be able to get the ingredients, guessing some of it might be at the end of the dungeon.
It was an S rank dungeon they tried to clear and couldn't, so it had a dungeon break. Further attempts to clear it were outside since they broke out so they wasn't any dungeon to go into. But it being on a island by itself, they left it alone cause monsters can't swim. But the problem of flying is now becoming a thing so now they need to try and kill them again
The statement regarding Baek only being able to Solo a B-Rank dungeon doesn't make him weaker that Jinwoo (at that time), but Jinwoo is an "one-man army", and is able to get items and potions from the store.
Keep in mind that in the source material "red shirt" never actually showed up to the red gate. So the system doing it to "protect" him doesn't make sense.
@@MerabuHalcyon I wonder whats up with the pacing cse ive seen people say we might get jeju island by the end of this season and honestly I also do think we might get it by then we already gonna get kargalgan next episode and then theres the second bit of the retesting rank then the demon castle. I can see them ending season 2 on the demon castle fight but at the same I dont think it would be a good ending point, demon castle ending isnt like the ending we had back at season 1 with igris, maybe they'll do a tease of jeju raid at the end probably.
@@RandomDude-m1mwith the current pace (~5 chapters per episode) we would end the Season with 2 chapters left from Jeju. So i think its safe to assume that we're getting Jeju this Season and theyre just gonna pace a few things faster so that these 2 chapters fit into this Season Edit: Just checked again and realised there wouldnt even be 2 chapters left and the Season (with the current pace) would end on Chapter 107 which is when Jeju ended
20:06 Note that Jeju Island is not a dungeon. The gate that led to a dungeon became a portal that monsters used to cross into the real world. The ant monsters have built a nest in the real-world and were barred from leaving the island by the ocean. They can reproduce indefinitely, but they are limited by the geography. The reason that hunters are on high alert is because they discovered that the ants have evolved to the point that they can now fly across the ocean, which means that they have the potential to become a worldwide threat. 20:30 I agree that the difference in demeanor is a little disappointing. Anime Jinwoo looks a lot like how I often read about Jinwoo on forums from people who only remember SL as "Jinwoo is an OP character and stomps everything". It isn't as bad as comic-book adaptations where some characters barely bear any resemblance to their comic-book namesakes, but we did lose a bit of characterization.
A couple things, the s rank guy appearing at the red gate wasn’t in the novel but it was in the manhwa and also he didn’t gain 75 levels from the demon tower, he climbed 75 floors, he’s only in the high 60s right now levels wise
20:13 it depend on the dungen but for the jeju island this is true as we can see the ant evolving however in some other dungens it my just be golems who cannot reproduce hence their danger on growing stronger is way less
Its a specialization thing, some S ranks can blow up A rank above dungeons with spell but the will be vulnerable while casting, some can solo a boss but will have trouble when surrounded, some can buff 100 people to make an unstoppable army but if you isolate them then they'd be in trouble and so on. Jinwoo just got the best of both worlds because he started with an assasin build but the system just gave him necromancy as a bonus without him needing to relocate his stats
The good thing is that they actually showed miss park in season 1, she was talking with some other B ranks from the hunters guild about cha hae in and each other's guild. They will show us those other hunters too probably in ep5
You're now able to watch some danmachi aninews content. I recommend "Bell's Power & Stats Explained! How Does Levelling Work in DanMachi?" (5 years old video)
33:32 "Could the system not just take away his powers and send him straight back to E?" You're asking a lot of questions that can't be answered without spoilers, but I can safely say that the system can't strip Jin-Woo of his powers. If the system was taken away, at this point ... [spoiler] ... Jin-Woo would most likely die as the power of the Shadow Monarch burned him out.
All I'm gonna say is in the manhwa they took a realistic approach about the Jeju dungeon break and what's been going on all this time. I hope they explain it in the anime too.
the sister leveling compilation didn't have all the episodes they had so it might be worth going through the rest and watching them as they were also quite good. They have a playlist with all including the compilation on their channel.
One of the few criticisms I have with the story (manhwa in particular) is that this part of the story, the "low level, leveling up" part went a little faster than I would have preferred. He goes from the Bottom of E, to upper D or lower C pretty much instantly, then seems to instantly jump to upper B or bottom A, and while his jump into S-Rank is much more.... "Journeyed", alot takes place but isn't shown, so it still feels a bit short. This part feels a bit rushed to me, but not as bad as some Anime. Still my favorite Manhwa though.
@GOTExtraChannel 22:06 NON SPOILER here's a simple way of explaining the rank system if its kinda hard to understandthe ranking convert it to numbers lets say "aura lvl" for E rank its between 80 and 100 (in season 1 if u remember when jinwoo got out of the double dungeon when the right hand guy of go gunhee with the shades went to check if jinwoo reawakened the mana meter showed a number of 10 and he said its lower than even a normal human how can he even be a hunter let alone reawakened lol so by that i made up these numbers (82 aura will be low e rank 98 will be high e rank) but the difference is low because of the mana threshold the higher rank the higher the mana threshold becomes, for D rank its between 100 and 250 (120 aura would be low D and 230 aura would be high D rank), for C rank between 250 and 1.000, for B rank between 1.000 and 3.000, for A rank would be between 3.000 and 10.000, and s rank its above 10.000... so some s rank can have 10.500 aura another can have 15.000 aura the one with bigger aura is stronger even tho he/she/they is/are still s ranks and in jinwoos case he will keep increasing this number pretty much forever and he will surpass even the ones that are currently stronger than him, hope this is easier to understand this numbers are just a system i thought of to make it easier to explain to people without any spoilers
I kind of expected they might cut out a few parts in the slower moments like this, as much as we might want them it's also good for them to save their budget for the fights lmao
12:00 nah. Hwang dong su also said if he wants he will just day he is a monster, he knew after they talked that he is a real human but ge was arrogant and dumb :)
This season is going by way too fast! I thought we'd climb the Tower, and go 8nto the A ranked Kargalon Gate Ark and get reassessed and save Jiju Island for next season. But now: The BOSS fight at the top of the Tower. The A Ranked KARGALON Gate. And then the formal reassessment and reveal as a S RANKED Hinter. I just don't see that taking up 8 or 9 episodes at the pace they are going. Are we REALLY going to meet HIM this season!? 😱 🐜 👑
15:55 you have a good Point. Thats what Go Gun-Hee say in episode 4. P.s. Have you ever heard somthing about the National Level Hunter? Hunter so Powerful they have gain the status of a Nation.
the reason beak cant solo dungeons is because all hunters need a lot of types of abilities which would be impossible since different types of hunters only have limited skills (like beak only having attack type skills so defense or healing would be difficult )
The main story vs "side story" happening at the same time is REALLy common in anime too... maybe you just don't catch it... but also the long game story in anime is also usually an even longer game deal than you think... and so some shows with no plans for more seasons do leave it out...
It's not really considered a good anime overall to my knowledge but there's one call Code:Breaker where the dad of the main character is lovely to his family
My gripe is the lack of continuity. They pick up Jinahs friend end of ep 2 in the awkward scene. But she is never seen in ep 3 in the raid. So they dropped her off at school lmao? These anime writers are pretty stupid leaving her out after taking up the whole ending of an episode for her.
"They are just ants" Well... I mean... Ants can easily lift 10x their weight. Ants bigger than humans would pick up elephants and throw them in the air like thei are playing with baby toys. Yeah, they are ants, one of the scariest existence on earth in term of strength-to-mass. They are stronger than gorillas in this aspect after all...
AniNews is SUPERB. He has been my go-to for supplementary anime content for many years now. The next highest quality one would be Unseen Whispers, though that channel did "After The Anime" content primarily, in my experience. There's a couple other, some devoted to a single series, like TenSura or something, and they are all great. AniNews just covers a bunch of shite I love AND is "the hot new thing," so to apeak.
I have to agree with him seeing like an Ice guy in the anime and have to say that with every adaptation it got slightly worse. Though I got to see this patern in other works from China and Korea, where the MCs are these super strong, always right, always acting cool and slightly emotionless (or emotionless completely) types of guys who we are supposed to root for, but none of them are build in an enjoyable way or had enjoyable allies (Jin-woo's shadows can be really funny and goofy). The fact that Jin-woo actually have other emotions and is capable of showing them makes him that much better than other MCs
13:29 was it not also in manwha that he went to korea? if i remember yes thats why kinda confuse me why here got say that is a anime only thing when its was also like that in the manwha
Overall I don’t know how rights to anime works. Plus they only doing 5 seasons and a movie. So I’ll enjoy the anime and in the end I see if they could fit so much cut content. But for now, it’s good for me.
I stopped buying light manwhas/light novels/whatever they are called these days many years ago... This is the only one I legit ever have had a desire to go purchase in its entirety...
The scale of power in solo leveling for Jinwoo its broken, maybe a 3rd season will explain a little bit I calculate that s2 will end with a cruel clifthanger, but I can say that for now until jinwoo beats the 100th floor, he is at same level of power, of cha he in and the fire dude I forget his name,(choi) but yeah just wait this will be crazy
I think you should only watch these types of videos after the anime or season ends, there is a reason why the manhwa changed things from the novel and then the anime changed things from the privious two
Honestly I'm sometimes a bit frustrated by these videos because sometimes the stuff that was "left out" is a throwaway gag or just unimportant to the story -- easy to include in a manhwa, but in an adaptation with rigid time and budgetary constraints like an anime episode much harder to justify, but the videos give it weight as if it had actual story signifigance.
they actually saying its better that they left these things out there not much aignificance and they might add some if these scenes later on as a flashback you know its fuckin anime chill out @@HSTLMLWL
Except in solo leveling the side characters already are notvery developped if you cut most of their scene it become even worse that's litteraly the main issues people have with solo leveling manhwa
@@zeldojikkai4924 Except that they've added a bunch of anime exclusive scenes with the side characters? And the scenes people most complain about being cut are things like Jinwoo testing the Orb of Avarice, not side character scenes. People want fewer of those in favor of more scenes where Jinwoo reads the system alerts or gags (some of which didn't even land in the manhwa) with the shadows.
@John-ee4qr it won't be rushed. so far all they've cut out is some minor comedy, or unimportant monologue. and they'll anyways make up for it all in S3, since that's going to be almost entirely novel/anime original. (we're probably having 5 seasons in total with a movie )
Now 10x the about theu cut from the manga to anime and add some anime only moments that are not great and ruins the plot then you get tokoy ghoul anime , thats why manga is masterpiece.
It was kinda disappointing ngl. The animation went up noticeably witch was my biggest gripe from s1 (the manwha looks like art from louvre) but dang so much left out… not like this is a big story to begin with… its even already y finished
Como on lol why people trying to push another one piece or naruto with 3/4 of the whole season being a dialog no action.i honest think it was a good choice of the developers so far SL s2 only episode 4 have been dialog and still was good cause was more like an introduction..

The statement regarding Baek only being able to Solo a B-Rank dungeon doesn't make him weaker that Jinwoo (at that time), but Jinwoo is an "one-man army", and is able to get items and potions from the store.
peoples only argument on solo leveling being ¨ass¨ is that they took out MINOR scenes and added bigger ones💀
Keep in mind that in the source material "red shirt" never actually showed up to the red gate.
So the system doing it to "protect" him doesn't make sense.
the story of the system is something im so excited everyone to know but also sad cus we're not gonna be there any time soon
im pretty sure the real lore is gonna start after jeju so im guessing we are gonna get there at s3 if paceing is kept the same as rn
The ants arc will be really interesting
So sad that's gonna be season 3...wish they'd do an extended season two of 25 episodes...I can't wait for Jeju!!! Best boi!!!
@@MerabuHalcyon Jeju is coming this Season.
@@RandomDude-m1mwith the current pace (~5 chapters per episode) we would end the Season with 2 chapters left from Jeju.
So i think its safe to assume that we're getting Jeju this Season and theyre just gonna pace a few things faster so that these 2 chapters fit into this Season
Edit: Just checked again and realised there wouldnt even be 2 chapters left and the Season (with the current pace) would end on Chapter 107 which is when Jeju ended
I'm looking forward to the Overlord videos more.
A couple things, the s rank guy appearing at the red gate wasn’t in the novel but it was in the manhwa and also he didn’t gain 75 levels from the demon tower, he climbed 75 floors, he’s only in the high 60s right now levels wise
Love your reactions... You actually feel like the most genuine reactor I've seen in this field.
Baek (Beck) is a true one. Very noble and honorable man.
Episodes 1-14 covered novel 64 chapters, which averages almost 5 chapters an episode. Episode 15 covered 11 chapters of the novel.
In the Novel he thought the dungeon is only to grinde level. Than in floor 50 he became the recipe and know thats the real goal.
your theory is brilliant man,, also, have hope for jinwoos love life in the future
33:32 "Could the system not just take away his powers and send him straight back to E?"
You're asking a lot of questions that can't be answered without spoilers, but I can safely say that the system can't strip Jin-Woo of his powers. If the system was taken away, at this point ... [spoiler]
Man this series is gonna get so good in coming episodes and seasons. Look forward to this series if you are an anime only watcher
31:07 Yes indeed there is very interesting and emotional story behind this! ❤
all i'll say is the 1 thing i've been most excited for is the ants...been waiting for literal years!
3:20 he absolutely did not 1 vs 1 the boss, it as a 3 vs 1 with his 2 shadows being A rank.
19:00 well... they need to do something about the ants, you saw that they are trying to go to japan (found washed up on the shore)
Eminence in shadow season 2
Also, before he killed Vulcan, Vulcan smiled at him
This season is going by way too fast!
I thought we'd climb the Tower, and go 8nto the A ranked Kargalon Gate Ark and get reassessed and save Jiju Island for next season.
But now:
The BOSS fight at the top of the Tower.
The A Ranked KARGALON Gate.
And then the formal reassessment and reveal as a S RANKED Hinter. I just don't see that taking up 8 or 9 episodes at the pace they are going.
Are we REALLY going to meet HIM this season!? 😱
🐜 👑
When the episode 3 dropped it felt like my neck got broken by how fast it was moving. Yeah it was kinda upsetting but it was good enough.
I was sad that they cut out the Shadows interaction. There are always funny. 😂
The girl in ep 1 is cha hae-in s rank hunt the black haired girl is park heejin
dude if ants was human size they will kill us all lol
28:07 Oh boy! 👀
"nice 👍🏻" me too
The main story vs "side story" happening at the same time is REALLy common in anime too... maybe you just don't catch it... but also the long game story in anime is also usually an even longer game deal than you think... and so some shows with no plans for more seasons do leave it out...
It's not really considered a good anime overall to my knowledge but there's one call Code:Breaker where the dad of the main character is lovely to his family
I'm still hoping you react to his breakdown of the Overlord guardians!
From what I'm reading into the Anime, they're taking the narrative that bits of humanity fading from him and one of those are his emotions?
All I gotta say is.... Ashbourn✨
Season 2 is being speed run so far
All the voice acting is emotionless i don't know why
They could do better than this and yeah the anime scenes are a bit rushed
13:30 the manhwa too, the novel didnt
The main story: 🤫
IMHO, Solo leveling needed 40 minute-long episodes for proper storytelling, watching the anime feels so different from reading the webnovel
Jinwoo did earn quite a few levels in the tower, but he DID NOT get a new level every floor. Not even close.
LUKE PLEASE READ THE MANHWA I NEED TO SEE YOUR REACTION TO GOOFY SUNG JINWOO!
The fact that Jin-woo actually have other emotions and is capable of showing them makes him that much better than other MCs
hearing aninews try to pronounce choi is funny its not even remotely close but it does make sense to pronounce it that way in english
Great video I recommend bringing the background audio down 20-30%
I'm about to crash out I can't escape sister leveling
I'm worried the anime refusing to say the words Korea and Japan is going to hurt the anime in the long term.
13:29 was it not also in manwha that he went to korea? if i remember yes thats why kinda confuse me why here got say that is a anime only thing when its was also like that in the manwha
Lol I know poeple call him Luke, I call him Ramble.....
I think you should only watch these types of videos after the anime or season ends, there is a reason why the manhwa changed things from the novel and then the anime changed things from the privious two
They rushed the story really bad therefore so many contents were skipped…However it’s very good someone summaries the missing contents.
Finally!
could you pls react to the Shaman King (2021) (+ SHAMAN KING: FLOWER OF MAIZE) Op&Ed
Or the 4 japanese Pokemon Horizons Openings?
Shit dads? What do you mean? Piccolo was a great dad to Gohan
Ong I see people whining about the most irrelevant useless scenes being left out like it's easy to animate
they actually saying its better that they left these things out there not much aignificance and they might add some if these scenes later on as a flashback you know its fuckin anime chill out @@HSTLMLWL
i hate this also it makes it a spoilery video for the animes only ....
S rank is just a basic combat unit later on
"SO MUCH WAS LEFT OUT"
"WHY"
theyre trying to fit jeju in the season, so yeah.
really?????
in this season?
god i hope so, i needa see Beru animated asap
@@John-ee4qr yep.
@ i just hope it is not rushed
@John-ee4qr it won't be rushed. so far all they've cut out is some minor comedy, or unimportant monologue.
and they'll anyways make up for it all in S3, since that's going to be almost entirely novel/anime original.
(we're probably having 5 seasons in total with a movie )
I was looking forward to this! It really adds to the depth of the reactions!
18:50 you're talking about overarching story..
Been waiting all day
Now 10x the about theu cut from the manga to anime and add some anime only moments that are not great and ruins the plot then you get tokoy ghoul anime , thats why manga is masterpiece.
You can't or you can? 14:56
It’s not “random.”
