Loving this little boat series, I too am intrigued by stich and glue. I have known about it for years, but I have never watched anyone build one so this is pure gold for me.
*Good* job you 2.
She's startin' to look like the little red that could!
🙏🦉
Love seeing your dad's backyard. Brings back childhood memories of California.
She is starting to look like she is a boat, you’re patience and ingenuity is admirable both of you and can see your enthusiasm coming to life, way to go
Congrats Cdn.Dave
It’s starting to come to life! 🚣🏽♀️👍❤️
Hey Garret, get yourself an inversion table for your back. It fixed mine and it stayed fixed for the last 20 years. Maintenance is the key.
Good display of craftsman and patients. Fun to watch.
It is so satisfying doing this. I built one of Chesapeake’s stitch and glue boats about five years ago, it was a hoot.
One project at a time 😊
You guys are outstanding and awesome to watch.
Little red is the perfect name :D
Thank you for another wonderful video..
I've been a builder my entire life. Building ships is a hole other level
Love watching this come together, you guys work so well with each other you make it easy.... 😃
Well this is a live and learn . If you do another stich and glue try using your cordless drill to tighten up the copper wire ( set it on the slowest speed) and for making a ton of them use a 3/4 x 3 x 5 . Piece scrap wood .Wrap the wire length wise , oh 20 times then cut the wire just once.
I found this works when I made 13 ,16 ft kayaks . .
It's looking good you two .
Angus
John Harris and CLC are brilliant!
I have enjoyed TotalBoat products for a while now. Plus, I like that the company (J.D.) started in Jamestown and explored forth, the way my ancestors did.
The music in your videos always leaves me wanting more. I would love to hear a music video with the music from your videos.
Looking good!!! Time for coffee ...
. bend like a reed in the wind , great update ..
Don’t be afraid to drill and wire as many places you need to fair the joints.
Good way to see yer Pa right would be some of your special boat goop on his fence and some grass seed.
😂 puzzling.. I'm deeply puzzed .. 😅 🤣
As a Mechanical Engineer working with Plastic Injection Mold Tooling for 55 years, and a lifelong boat owner, I have watched the magnificent job you two have done on RediViva religiously. I normally wouldn't say anything like this, but for stitch and glue just get a bigger hammer. I am sure you can whup that sucker into shape and then hold it there with Gorilla Tape until you glass it. Oh, and a soft covered hammer so as not to leave dents.
Garret has that magical combination of Education, Experience, Gut Feeling, and Intestinal Fortitude to get her done!
Bravo to you both for making my life a little bit better enjoying every episode.
Thankfully we have Ruth to keep the project moving along!
Absolutely live this video. ❤
That design could also be made with aluminium. Where the wire goes could be the area for spot welds! Looking great! Thanks for the videos!
"Ocean going Stich and Glue". Look up Devlin Stich and Glue Boats. He's been making and selling plans for them here in Washington for decades.
Cool looking when it starts to show it's shape. I am still wondering what will be done about the wire later. I know it can't just stick out like that.
Take a look at RAN SAILING for a strip and glass building project
Nice
Stop making me interested in other projects! Looks great 👍
Great video! I wonder if you are keeping track of your hours in the build, which would be helpful information for those of us considering a stitch and glue build?
Goona just be a fun boat...
Why did you put all the bonded seams in the same location? Wouldn’t staggering them strengthen the boat? Now the seam is all the same. If any one fails it could spread and the whole back of the boat splits.
Building everything heavy may be what is wrong with your back. 😂😂😂 I have done heavy carpentry construction in my younger days. I worked by myself mostly. If I had known I would live this long I would’ve taken better care of my back.
I love this build. Makes me want to build one too.
👏👍🏻
Would Garrett be happier if he was trudging though 3 feet of snow, with a bad back, sick as a dog to figure it out?
Why didn't you call Chesapeake?
Why didn’t you just call CLC to ask about the holes that weren’t marked on the pattern?
I’ve called them many times for far dumber reasons. Great customer service.
🚣♂🚣♂🚣♂👍👍👍👍👌
