Albert's drumming on this is both complex and melodic. I know most people don't think of melody when it comes to drums, but he had a way of making drumming melodic. Let's not forget Joe's amazing bass, sounding like a guitar solo at times.

Every time I hear people talk about BOC's best albums they always go to the first three. Spectres has songs on it that rank with those albums best, and surpass many of them.
Spectres is the perfect combination of prog, goth, heavy, melody, etc, but it failed commercially due to bad promotion and sad expectations by so called fans for it to sound like the first three.

As great as Buck Dharma is on guitar and vocals on this song, what makes this version so special is the performance of the Bouchard brothers. Albert drives this song and Joey really develops a groove with him. I've seen BOC over 60 times in concert, and this is probably my favorite vid from them on youtube.

A good observation regarding the Bouchards. I've always thought this was a nightmare song for Buck to have to pull off live. Very intense vocals & story telling required + the usual tasty lead guitar licks ... he's on good form here but maybe it got dropped from live sets because of the extra difficulty for him ??

It is common in the 2018 Set-List, so check 'em out if you can! They even have added 'Screams' and 'Beautiful as a Foot' -- total ear candy...and Albert joins them now and again and sings, picks, and more -- just too great to see him! Blue Coupe does a great show too. Also, you can really see in this vid just how much Allen fills things out with his guitar...what an undersung hero. R.I.P. Allen Lanier!

flaccid plumage. They were one of the biggest draws to me & my ilk in
those days, a rock and roll cultural event to us. Saw all their Cap Center
shows of the late 70’s, including this one. Have rocked with Buck and
Eric at many a club venue show since then, but these original band
member concerts in the big arenas, at the peak of their powers, were

“Golden Age of Leather” by Blue Öyster Cult
Raise your can of beer on high
    And seal your fate forever
Our best years have past us by
    The golden age of leather
This was the night not long to come in the year of our Lord A.D.
Where in a desert way-house, poised on the brink of eternity
Four and ninety studded horsemen closed the knot of honor
    As only drunken soldiers can
And passed from man to man, a wanton child to dead to care
That each would find his pleasure as he might
For this fantastic night was billed as nothing less than the end of
    An age
A last crusade, a final outrage, in this day of flaccid plumage
And there was worn no cloth but leather
Made supple by years of stinging cinders
And here were seen the scars of age
For age had been the common call for one last night together
Down colored the sky (the ritual feast)
Some had died (they were buried with their bikes)
Each grabbed a rag (from a man with a sack)
Torn strips of color (the red and the black)
    I came here willingly
    I will go down valiantly
We made a vow to give it all we had to give
We made a vow to die as we had lived
They flew the colors, they began to fight
They flailed at each other like bugs at a light
    Bodies and bikes beyond repair
Smell of oil and gas in the air
Then the wind whipped the desert with a giant hand
And the humans and the Harleys caught the shifting sand
And the old ranger weathered the storm
And he topped the rise by the middle of morn
He saw rippled dunes, calm and surreal
And a glint of a shaft of chromium steel
    Golden age

The Fuckin Hall is a damn joke. What a shit sham it is. It took Deep Purple how long to get in. DEEP PURPLE FOR CHRIST SAKES!! They just got in what 3 years ago?? Shameful.. Grand Funk Railroad. 7 platnum albums in 7 years. Sold out Shea in 72 hours , a record no act ever topped. Their not in!!!!! Yet Fuckin Modonna is? WTF?? Yea. Sure BOC should absolutely in. I could go on,and on! It's disgusting..

Bring on the guitars! I've always especially liked this song because it's more guitar-heavy than many other songs. There's a lot there if you listen closely. And check out that EBow stuff 5:17 on.

BÖC is one of my favourite bands and certainly the most influencial on my work as a composer / musician. I would love your input on the first video of my first album. It got the attention of one of my heroes Joe Bouchard (ex bass player founding members of BÖC) who is following us on Soundcloud but returns from people who likes same music is always the best. If you have just 3 minutes to listen and a bit more to comment, that would mean the world to me. Keep rockin' : ruclips.net/video/Pu_p1wbaCa8/видео.html

    Letra:
We made a vow to give it all we had to give
We made a vow to die as we had lived
They flew the colors, they began to fight
They flailed at each other like bugs at a light
    Bodies and bikes beyond repair
Smell of oil and gas in the air
Then the wind whipped the desert with a giant hand
And the humans and the Harleys caught the shifting sand
And the old ranger weathered the storm
And he topped the rise by the middle of morn
He saw rippled dunes, calm and surreal
And a glint of a shaft of chromium steel
    Golden age.
