Sorry, but the electronic sirens in the UK are useless compared with the previous two-tone air horns. No matter how much tweaking is done to the type of sound, they are almost inaudible within a car until the emergency vehicle is practically alongside. At least in the USA, the electronic sirens are loud enough to be heard, but even there, the motor driven sirens are the best. Many years ago, the Cardiff Fire brigade (and some others) had motor sirens before the two-tones. I agree with George S-R about the livery- Jurassic Park sprang to my mind, also. Still, nice catch!
I was a special Constable a long time ago. We had a Peugeot 309 with 2 tone air horn and it screamed "get out of my way, coming through" then we got an escort with electronic and I commented at the time that it whispered "excuse me, can I squeeze past please"
Anything that helps them be heard and seen in traffic is a good thing. Many people on the roads seem to travel in their own little bubble where nothing else matters... just them :(
One wonders how they practice driving and maneuvering through traffic for many miles. I think it's more of an art, you can't just go as fast as you like but you have to go as fast as you can, I think this driving takes a lot of finesse and awareness.
Some serious light set up on that, why can't they all be like that, siren too, remember they were testing those back in early 90s would have thought they'd have perfected it that all would be fitted with.... Love the New York ones
Great video. I wonder how long the casualty had been waiting and if you can sit in a critical care car for 10 hours before a hospital bed/mortuary becomes available.
The old two tones were the best, v clear where you were coming from abd easier to respond too, the fade in and out type used by police was designed to unclear as to the direction on purpose to confuse criminals, not helpful on an ambulance .
I'm sure I heard or read somewhere that the problem with the old two-tone sirens was people would perform autonomous actions in time with them (like breathing for example), and they also don't have the same audible distance as current sirens do but do have more directionality. The directionality issue with the wailer siren is why the siren changes when the emergency vehicle is approaching traffic, especially junctions.
Love the use of rumbler. HATE the livery though that's some overcomplicated Jurassic Park scales going on there
I agree
Sharp looking rig and cool siren. So different than the similar rigs here in the U.S. Thanks for sharing..
Awesome unit! I love the livery, looks much more unique than the generic battenburg design. Siren is a Code3 Banshee.
Amazing catch, very lucky to see that!
Cheers mate! Really appreciated
We’ve got the rumbler here in Oz on our ambulances too they work great
I Love The Rumbler! It’s My Favourite Siren Feature

I didn’t hear or feel a rumbler.
Just a bog standard emergency services siren. Whats spcial about it?
Terrifying siren! Love it.
Agree
that is not rumbler, its code 3 banshee at best, doesnt feel like low frequency siren at all tbh
I didn't notice any difference from the one they use now.

Nice one, buddy!
Cheers!

U can find videos of blue light training sessions on youtube

expensive, these air ambulance cars are usually donated so they can spend much more on their lighting setups
This light setup is found on almost all Kodiaqs, Skoda outfit them like that from factory. Look up the SWAST Critical Care Kodiaq.
Great for getting back to the depot before your chips get cold
What a weird livery, doesn't look like a real emergency vehicle with that full height artwork (?). Cool siren though, not heard one like that before.
the north american rumbler siren sounds even better. Check out the Vancouver Police Department Rumbler siren.
Great video. I wonder how long the casualty had been waiting and if you can sit in a critical care car for 10 hours before a hospital bed/mortuary becomes available.
What are you on about
Great catch!

Or a fire truck.

NIce
Nice catch
So what is so amazing? It's just a siren!
Very nice catch mate
American style 😎
Sorry siren.
Rumbler? i've heard the American one and its nothing like this. It wont be long before we have them though, being the 51st state!
