Samson they look pretty good actually, there's a blog post someone made where they stripped all the paint off the Harry Potter ones, there's a lot of detail underneath!
If it wasn't thick it would just come right off. It has to be primed first which is thick to allow adhesion and then painted. Not priming is fine for hand painted stuff like D&D miniatures, but for commercially painted stuff it has to be done (and there's still possible chipping).
Most people prime their D&D minis prior to painting, but they usually use aerosol or air brush primer so it stays thin. And honestly, I'd rather have unpainted metal figures if these abominations are the alternative.
There was actually a guy who did that after the last video! He did Superman, and it looked pretty good once he got done with it. His name is Obliviousralph, if you're interested.
Jesus Christ. I JUST saw these things on the left-over 90% off Christmas clearance rack at Target. (Basically U.S ASDA/Sainsbury). The quality was ASTOUNDING. No wonder they still had like 20 of them...
The thing with Blanka's mom recognizing his anklets isn't in the original Japanese version, she just recognizes him. (Also, added to the English translation was the whole thing with Vega / Bison and Cammy being lovers before she lost her memory.) The Street Fighter Wiki says that the writing on his gloves is a stylized version of 風林火山 (Furinkazan, or wind-forest-fire-mountain), the same text that appears on the breakable signs in his stage in Street Fighter II and sometimes is written on his belt in artwork.
And next we have Ken, modeling this fabulous satin Gi, kick your opponants head in then kick back and then relax with a box of chocolates and a good movie... Later, we will take a look at the new addition to the Stretch Armstrong line, Stretch Zangief with flexing action, pump up his muscles to intimidate his foes.
To be honest, I actually like them. Seems like only problem with those is paintjob and, as a semi-pro miniture painter, I'd be more than happy to dip them in acetone, brake fluid or other paint stripper and repaint them. Sadly, I'm pretty sure they can't be bought where I live. :(
noname65PL I agree. The detail seems like it's there, just need to strip down that assembly line paint job (which is decent considering human hands probably painted 100 figures while I typed this message). Interesting how miniature painting changes your perspective on this figures
noname65PL (Sry for the double comment) if you live in the US, you'll find them at your local Walmart. When I was there last week I think they were 97 cents each... Or $1.97?? No more than $2 each for certain
I did a semi-failed 3d printed Space Marine while quite drunk. It was far below my usual standards but it looked like Duncan Rhodes' finest compared to these shits.
I immediately thought of Fig Newtons...then tried to figure out if something with the gravitational force of one newton (~102 grams) compressed to within the space of one nitrogen atom would form a black hole. Then I realized that this is a physics problem beyond my abilities (I have an English degree)...so if anyone wants to let me know if a nano fig "newton" would form a black hole...please do so.
HaydenX, Gravitational attraction is dependent on your distance from the object. So the Earth would have a gravitational force of one newton if you were the right distance from it. However, I think with a few assumptions I could probably work this out. We shall see. Edit: Just realized something that I should have noticed sooner. Gravity isn't measured in Newtons, it's measured in acceleration. The force it would exert on an object would depend on the mass of the object it was affecting. Saying it has a gravitational attraction of one Newton would be like saying Earth has a gravitational attraction of one pound. It would be one pound to things that weigh one pound, but it wouldn't to other masses. If you'd like to specify what the one Newton force would be applied to then I could answer your question.
As you suspected, no, I did not see the 1st metal figs video. Thanks for alerting us to it; I paused this & went off to watch that one first. RUclips is a PITA sometimes.
They have a lot of these for 97 cents at Wal-Mart near the Hot Wheels section - my aunt strips the paint from the figures and repaints it properly. They look great :D
The two guys in the intro to Street Fighter II are Scott and Max. They were given these names (or at least the names were publicly revealed for the first time) in 2016.
When I was younger I once bought a couple of Loony Tunes metal figurines of Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner. I remember the paint coming right off them, but I could never repaint something so tiny unless I had the skill of that one artist I read about who paints detailed art on grains of rice.
Ahem " *The CIA IS PUTTING BLACK HELICOPTERS IN OUR DRINKING WATER TO TURN OUR CHEAP TAT GAY!* ." There you go one Alex Jones moment made just for you.
Mostly affordable SF figure in normal body proportions. Rough paint job, I can accept that because they just cost $1 in retail store, like Target, Walmart, Toys R Us. And yet it's hard to find, not all the stores are selling them. If you want to collect them all, you probably spend times money to buy online.
In all versions of Street fighter I've seen that charecter Balrog/M. Bison was omitted altogether & we got a bionic dictator named M. Bison instead, the bloke Raul Julia plays in the movie.
There is just something I like about all of these Nanofigs, especially the Harry Potter ones. It gives me the same feeling as seeing an ugly but strangely adorable cat.
So these, in the US are $.98. You should acetone a couple and show them to see if there is more detail on the models. I'm sure some model artists can repaint them if they are any good.
Have you considered taking one of these you don't care too much about and dipping it in paint stripper? I'm deathly curious to know if the metal figure under the paint has more in the way of detail.
I do wounder what they would look like under all that paint, maybe if you leave them in white spirit overnight does the metal skeleton look somewhat decent? could you repaint them properly?
I kinda want to get few of these and dip them into some paint stripper to see how much details have been lost because of that insanely thick paint job.
I never saw the original street fighter standup arcade cabinet. But I did have "Fighting street" the horrible port for TurboGrafix CD. I got it from I think Pharmor? it was like a k-mart or walmart. Until walmart came around and they went out of business. So they were selling all the used games out of their rental department. Usually game only no box or instructions af stupid cheap prices. That is where I picked up most of my turbo graphix collection back in the late 90's when I was collecting it. Back then you could collect it without it costing a fortune.
I too am old enough to remember the Street Fighter 1 game with giant buttons that made your character hit harder when you hit the big button harder. Predictably, people were immediately pounding the shit out of the game, and they would get yelled at by the arcade owner to stop hitting so hard. Of course the game was broken within a couple weeks. It wasn't long before they replaced them all with normal arcade buttons for light/medium/hard kicks and punches. Good times.
Sagat kind of looks like Bob from bob's burgers in some sort of cross over and Mecha Blakey from a On the busses crossover ( which needs to be done ) at the end !
These figures look like they applied the paint way too thick. Makes me wonder how they'd look if they were stripped down to the metal.
They would have used enamel paint too which is very thick and not good at all for fine details, atleast in my experience painting metal figures
Most people prime their D&D minis prior to painting, but they usually use aerosol or air brush primer so it stays thin. And honestly, I'd rather have unpainted metal figures if these abominations are the alternative.
The folks behind this didn't adhere to the golden rule of painting miniatures: *THIN YOUR PAINTS*
'One foot looks like a cereal box [that is] roughly serrated, rather than an actual human foot' is a sentence I'll probably never hear again
I'd strip all the paint off them, and re-paint them properly.
Lmao what a nerd
There was actually a guy who did that after the last video! He did Superman, and it looked pretty good once he got done with it. His name is Obliviousralph, if you're interested.
I was interested and looked it up but that came up with nothing, are you sure that's the name?
search for : Nano Metalfigs Stripped, Quick Review
brianartillery that sounds like a new hobby. Buy cheap rip off toys and turn them into properly hand painted ones. What a fantastic idea.
E. Honda hand looks like a foot
Torch-Bearer91 "They call me The Foot, biaaatch!" Name that movie...
Jesus Christ. I JUST saw these things on the left-over 90% off Christmas clearance rack at Target. (Basically U.S ASDA/Sainsbury). The quality was ASTOUNDING. No wonder they still had like 20 of them...
catbeweird:
90% off?
They're only 98¢...
+SpikeStarkey Where are you shopping, my man? $3 each here
catbeweird
Walmart, lol.
its weird the kind of cool shit you find at target.
do they not have target in the UK???
looks like Nanofigs never heard of the "two thin coats " method xD
Duncan would be displeased.
I'm just seeing that "THIN YOUR PAINTS" Warhammer video in my head rn
Zangief looks like a pile of Mashed Potatoes that gained sentience and grew a beard.
Lukethefox I thought he looked like Clayface from Batman with a permanent marker beard
Well, that's basically how you make vodka, and he IS Russian...
So he's basically the Spaceplan version of Zangief?
Lukethefox Crap!!! It happened again!!!
Strangely, that’s how people describe me.
Part of me want's to buy these, strip the paint off them and see if I could do a better paintwork job.
sagat looks like a bobs burgers character
Teddy's final form
Bob would make a great addition to a hilarious DLC made of joke characters
There's no better way to send off 2017 than an Ashens video
2 hours... With what shall I fill that time? Ashens of course!
It's not the squeaky rotating light, but it'll do.
2018 now
Fuckin 2018 innit.
Or start off 2018 in my case.

Your intro always wakes up my dog, he stares at the screen with his ears up in the air, then promptly goes back to sleep when you start talking.
Blanka looks like he's screaming because someome poured really hot macaroni and cheese on him.

I live literally on the other side of the globe. But thanks for the info anyway
noname65PL man if i lived in the states i would buy em N send em to yah
I did a semi-failed 3d printed Space Marine while quite drunk. It was far below my usual standards but it looked like Duncan Rhodes' finest compared to these shits.
I look at these and the very first thing that comes to mind is *THIN YOUR PAINTS!*
The models in the famous THIN YOUR PAINTS video weren't nearly as bad as these. At least the colours were appropriate
I got the M. Bison one.
It doesn't look too bad for a dollar.
A Bison dollar?
@@Lpoeser
I'D BISON THAT FOR A DOLLAR *AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA*
Zangief looks like someone's painted hair on Clayface...
This reminded me of those mini SF playsets you showed off years and years ago
Hello. I like the Street Fighters. I can do all the moves, and that.
Once I even beat Blanka!
Huss?
Aren't you the guy that keeps flashing up on ashens videos?
You were even in both his books
The man, the legend, the HUSS!
Mentski: He cares about Klax! Hussssss!
When I saw nano-figs I immediately thought "Figs smaller than atoms". As in very tiny fruit.
Masato Sanjoin £350 each!
Huw Rees Music
Cue Homer Simpson Voice
NEEEEEEEEEERD!
I immediately thought of Fig Newtons...then tried to figure out if something with the gravitational force of one newton (~102 grams) compressed to within the space of one nitrogen atom would form a black hole. Made by tiny, tiny dead wasps.

*Happy New Years Ashens*
Ashens, the design on Vega's mask is a viper's mouth. Goes with his tattoo
And now this same company is making actually good Street Fighter figures in the Marvel Legends scale
The paint on that Metal Gi’s Solid
They have a lot of these for 97 cents at Wal-Mart near the Hot Wheels section - my aunt strips the paint from the figures and repaints it properly. They look great :D
The gloves didn't have detailing in the actual game, but often do in official artwork. Same goes for Ryu's belt.
Ryu's gloves NEVER had the detailing until SFIV. Really any Street Fighter title after 3rd strike is absolute GARBAGE.
The two guys in the intro to Street Fighter II are Scott and Max. They were given these names (or at least the names were publicly revealed for the first time) in 2016.
ken has a propper he-man do lol
Dahlsim ironically would of fit in better with the weirder cast of Street Fighter 3, where he got replaced with Necro IIRC.
New year with the Ashens? Hell yeah!
Zangief looks exactly like a Caucasian Barret from Final Fantasy 7. Rendered with the same polygons and quality.
I watch every one of your videos the day they come out, including the one RUclips thinks no one saw. :) Your stuff is awesome.
When I was younger I once bought a couple of Loony Tunes metal figurines of Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner. I remember the paint coming right off them, but I could never repaint something so tiny unless I had the skill of that one artist I read about who paints detailed art on grains of rice.
I read the title as "Metal Nanofags" and it sounded like an Alex Jones video.
Ahem " *The CIA IS PUTTING BLACK HELICOPTERS IN OUR DRINKING WATER TO TURN OUR CHEAP TAT GAY!* ." There you go one Alex Jones moment made just for you.
I have seen so many videos by now I know your fingerprint.
Ah, Ashens. I hope you had a incredible Christmas and New Year!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YALL
And of course to you, Dr.Ashen and all your loved ones.
I don't know what SF1 game you were playing. In Canada it was six standard arcade buttons like SF2.
Chun Li's weird stance is a cross between SFIII (legs) and 2/alpha (the arms). Wonder who designed these molds
12:18 "Go and stand over there next to smelly Blanka!" LOL! XD
HAPPY NEW YEARS TO YOU AND YOUR GIRLFRIEND!🎉🎊
I’m pretty sure the comment is directed to ashen himself
😂 Sorry guys! Turns out i really just said his name in my head! Hey, Here's to a great year to you guys! There's a whole year ahead you never know.
Ashens only has room for tat in his heart.
Pretty sure Big Clive would be a boyfriend.
Green Beanington BROMANCE on the side! It's officially 2018 in ENGLAND! 🎉🎊
After seeing them around for a while, I broke down and bought a Guile because he goes with everything.
In all versions of Street fighter I've seen that charecter Balrog/M. Bison was omitted altogether & we got a bionic dictator named M. Bison instead, the bloke Raul Julia plays in the movie.
I believe these are possibly a reissue kind of thing. I remember having a few, M. Bison and Guile, when I was a kid back in the 90s
Never played Street Fighter, but I love Ashens.
Zangief looks like a clay golem with that lack of mouth.
I thought potato. I know it's an overused meme, but he really looks like one.
happy new years stuart and ms ashens , onto a another year of great content
that ken is actually pretty cool, I like the red metal paint
Happy new year! Looking forward to 2018, and Ashens looking at more tat! ✌🏻️🍻
14:42 - If the original M. Bison became Balrog over here, what was our M. Bison originally called in Japan?
Vega. And Vega is called Balrog in Japan.
I actually really like ken’s metallic outfit
Stuarts laugh is the reason I get up in the morning.
Zangief looks like a mutated Golden Nugget
Fantastic vid,Mte!Happy New year Ashens.
There is just something I like about all of these Nanofigs, especially the Harry Potter ones. It gives me the same feeling as seeing an ugly but strangely adorable cat.
Holy shit, this is just after I saw these IRL. I figured they'd be the type of thing you'd cover but this is a hell of a coincidence.
It's not the squeaky rotating light, but it'll do.
I'll stick with the Ryu amiibo that I bought from Best Buy on day one.
So these, in the US are $.98.
You should acetone a couple and show them to see if there is more detail on the models.
I'm sure some model artists can repaint them if they are any good.
According to Capcom, the two guys fighting in the intro to Street Fighter 2 are not Joe and Mike, but two different guys called Max and Scott.
Every time Ashens laughs hysterically, an angel gets its wings
These are much better than the other ones you've shown us
Have you considered taking one of these you don't care too much about and dipping it in paint stripper? I'm deathly curious to know if the metal figure under the paint has more in the way of detail.
The marking on Vega/Claw's mask is a stylized snake's mouth+fangs.
First video I watched in 2018 and totally worth it. If you see Dhalsim as part of the X-Men, wouldn't you also consider Blanka?
A glorious way to start the year.
Zangief appears to be the subject of Pulp's seminal "Lipgloss". Stomach looks bigger, hair is a mess, eyes are just holes in his face, etc.
Zangief looks like when you put Latex on the Infaceables figures
I do wounder what they would look like under all that paint, maybe if you leave them in white spirit overnight does the metal skeleton look somewhat decent? could you repaint them properly?
I think they all have metallic paint because they want to remind you that the figures are made of metal.
I kinda want to get few of these and dip them into some paint stripper to see how much details have been lost because of that insanely thick paint job.
Ken sporting those silk red pajamas
Ace video as always mate. Happy New Year.
I died a little inside every time that Ashens said "pants."
I had no idea that Norfolk was so exotic and cultured.
This is the first video I'm watching in 2018.
They look like someones first Warhammer minis. In the mighty words of Paint God Duncan Rhodes, Thin your paints!
Happy New Year Stuart.
I always assumed the design on Vega's mask was supposed to the outline of an opened snake mouth, to go with his tatu
Sagat looks like one of the characters from Fullmetal Alchemist I can't remember his name though
welp i learned ashen is a fighting games fan good stuff dude!
Yep I googled it no chain in 2 but at least I 5 he did for sure maybe 3&4 not sure
Here's a thought. Why not take the paint off one to see how good the detailing is without the globs of paint filling them out.
Happy New Year, Stuart!
Thanks for a link to the video we all haven't seen, it's alright I'll find it in your videos
Is it just super thick paint? I wonder if there's more detail underneath it all.
I'm still impressed by some of these for what they are. The metallic paint is a bit much though.
Good times.
I'd be curious to see these without the paint and find out exactly how much detail is lost when it's applied.
Happy New Year Ashens!!
Oh, and don’t worry, I saw your other nanofigs video. Sucks to hear RUclips doesn’t treat you well either
Have you seen these have been rereleased as blind bags?
4:33 I want that way of saying Tiger Uppercut in SF6.
Those Metal Gees look pretty Solid
Sagat kind of looks like Bob from bob's burgers in some sort of cross over and Mecha Blakey from a On the busses crossover ( which needs to be done ) at the end !
I might be lucky, I found a chun with proper paint on it. With proper paint, they look pretty alright! But I might repaint it
Happy new year Mr. Hands and Couch, pardon me, Ashens! o/
These would be cool as cake decorations
