Lucie Horsch and Thomas Dunford at Concertgebouw

- This live performance was recorded by BR Klassik last September in the Small Hall of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. First you hear a prelude by the French composer Jacques-Martin Hotteterre as an introduction to the Sonata in d minor written by Anne-Danican Philidor. Since I have this RUclips channel now, I decided to start posting a few more videos on it. Let me know if you like the video and if you have any suggestions! :)
Who's here because of twoset violin?
She's got insane recorder skill.. both the person and the sound are beautiful.. Well now I'm a fan. Please keep on posting your latest video Lucie.
I found this vid because of Twoset but it was on other channel. So technically I'm both yes and no. EDIT: oh no, it's a new one! Cool.
Ling Lings unite! This whole affair reconciled me with the recorder actually, as we were forced to play it in school in my country (many kids, including me, were almost allergic to it). None of my teachers have been able to convey how subtle an instrument it is, how beautiful it can sound, and how hard it is to master. She did all this and more in a 6 minutes reaction video xD
Who's else is practicing harder on the recorder since twoset made the their violin VS recorder video?
not on this video exactly, an earlier one, but yes.
I already knew Ms Lucie from an interview with Sarah Jeffery, though. She was already amazing as a child, but she's growing into a beautiful adult musician.
I already knew about her, but her Twoset roast video was posted on Reddit. Otherwise I likely wouldn't have found this channel. I'm so excited she started a channel!
I am so glad TwoSet did their 'evil' ;) recorder video, so you could start your new RUclips channel!
I had not heard a lot of your music yet so I didn't know how extremely well and beautiful you play the recorder. Engels nachtegaaltje was the best i ever heard and this french music makes even me want to play french music! (kan je nagaan, vraag maar aan mijn vroegere blokfluitlerares)
It is very inspiring!
Love to hear more from you and looking forward to it.
Anka Voskuilen I agree but she had a VEVO channel already, they weren’t the stepping stone ;-)
That was quite lovely.
agreed!
I barely know a recorder from a recording, but I know beauty when I hear it. You are contributing beauty to the world in a time where it is needed more desperately than ever. Keep doing what you are doing.
I found you because of your video reply to the TwoSetViolin guys. I liked the humor and talent you showed in that video, so I was one of your first subscribers because I hoped to hear more. As I listen to some of your actual performances, my eyes and ears are opened. Again you are doing good, keep going.
the recorder is a great instrument which has been frowned upon for its easy sound emission when learning the first "notes", the mass production of its plastic variant and its low cost
Her tone is so beautiful, my gosh!
My god, this is so intense.❤️
I just started to learn the recorder and I love this girl
how the turns have tabled
My homework ate my dog
There are many seas in the fish
We'll burn that bridge when we get to it
whatever be will be will
Not to horse a deadbeat . . .
Lucie Horsch Please do publish many more videos! We all love you.
Gorgeous music, never thought the sound of a recorder could be so mellow and warm, it fits really well with the theorbo accompaniment
Also, welcome to the club of cool classical musicians who have a private RUclips channel, you're in good company alongside Sarah Willis, Sergei Nakariakov and more. Love it!
Thank you for the video. As for suggestions, the more great performances on RUclips, the better. Please go on with posting more of your playing.
Loved your arrangement of ”couplet de folies” and this video seemed related,so.......yeah thanks.
The first time I heard of Thomas Dunford was just a week ago, when I got recommended the video of him and Lea Desandre performing French baroque songs. His sound and interpretation are beautiful! You two together are a blessing!
Thanks a lot Lucie! This brings me so much joy. Greetings from South Africa!
This is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful! Loving the combination of the lute and the recorder
Theorbo*.
Though it's a type of lute, you calling it a lute indicates you don't know what a theorbo is. You can also call it a chitarrone, though that's not quite a correct term, it's an accepted one.
@@nextlifeonearth thank you for informing me! I know what a theorbo is, but I didn't at the time.
@@jobkaashoek It's just one of those instruments I play, so I like everyone to know what it is.
Must resist adding more instrument trivia.
@@nextlifeonearth wow, what other instruments do you play? I play the organ, classical guitar and alto, soprano, sopranino and garklein recorders. I don't ever perform, it's just for fun and I'm not that good at all. I just like making music, and try to get better at it.
@@jobkaashoek
I play vihuela de mano and sing bass/countertenor semi-professionally, but in amateur performances I like to play hurdy gurdy, Theorbo, renaissance lute, crumhorn, soprano recorder (I never got to buy another recorder), (baroque/renaissance) guitar and got to play bagpipes once. It wasn't much of a success, but once I can get one myself I can practice.
Bucket list is too long.
Wonderful and emotional playing! It‘s a big pleasure to listen to You.
your musicality is out of this world!! Fantastic performance both of you!!! This was a feast for the ears!!! Thank you!
I truly appreciate the work you and other artists employ in performing this oft overlooked music. I'm very glad that I've discovered this style of such a lively & diverse artform!
So beautiful.
Oh my! You’re so talented! Your sound is so beautiful! I love this so much! 💙
beautifully played, great musicians!
Thank you! This is what I thought I'd like to see when you published the first video in this channel. I like this video. I listen lots of recorder music and in the future I would like to see you playing music you haven't played on CDs (the ones recorder I can find in Spotify or buy the CD). Händel sonatas are my favourites with recorder at the moment and I love baroque and other old music but if a professional publishes anything, I will listen anyway at least a couple of times.
so beautiful
What an incredible piece. If there's any more like this (composer or composition), please, share. I have never felt this good listening to a lute and a flute.
Thank you, just lovely!
Je suis très heureux de vous voir jouer. Cela me donne une meilleure idée de la qualité de votre maîtrise. Cela me stimule à continuer à jouer sur mes flûtes.
Beautiful piece! Thank you!
Thank you for keeping one of my favorite instruments alive
This is amazing! Thanks for sharing your music free!
Thank you Lucie, I really enjoy it.
Outstanding - just brilliant. Mesmerizing.
You should creating a video tutorial for Concerto ‘Per Flautino’
and challenge viewers and Twoset to attempt learning it; then create a montage of the community's attempts.
Ok, It's amazing! The prelude is very suggestive. I'd like to play with You. Bravo!
Greetings from Hungary, Franz Liszt Music Academy.
Hi Lucie, this is a great performance. You are so beautiful and so is your playing! I'm a fan now due to your fabulous recorder skills!
Just wonderful!
Love from Taiwan ✈️🥰
Love also to Taiwan for doing so well against Covid 19.
This is Taiwanese!!!🙋🏻♀️🥰
a wonderful instrument and so many different sounds are possible to form - please go on!
Beautiful performance!!!
Very beautiful! Nice musical lines and feeling.
Amazing.
Кажется - я влюблён! Чудо!
I love your Videos!!! Thank you!
I was waiting for this 😁😁😁
I have come to pay my respects to the recorder world in particular to this absolute legend. I tip my hat young lady, as did Twoset.
Well i originally was a fan of piano pieces only then i explored towards violin and Cello.
And now maybe i will also explore towards recorders and flutes,
And your performances are the best way to explore them.
Ils sont si jeunes et si talentueux ! Magnifique interprétation.
We would to hear anything you have to offer!!! You are amazing 😍
Sweet and peaceful performance. 🌳🍃🎵
Who was the sinner who coughed at 2:55 ?
I don't know who he is, nor where he is, but i know where he is going for commiting such a sacrilege
coronavirus.. XD
Lovely. I love early music
You r playing my soul 🙌
Your music is exquisite... Greetings from Chile!
you are so amazing. greeting from bali island😇
Keep posting, is amazing!
Really good playing, keep up the good work!
Heel goed gespeeld, ga zo door😊
Great to be exposed to more music! Keep posting :)
Marvelous
Lovely 👏👌
glad you are putting more videos up ... came from twoset violin
Post more! It's great music.
Deux grands artistes ... ou plutôt immenses artistes
Bravo
Jeder einzelne Ton ist von beiden Künstlern sehr liebevoll gestaltet.
Those Dynamics. Love the Tenor and Alto in general, and this was especially moving. Keep the videos coming, serious or funny ones!
Which is she playing? Alto? Tenor?
@@dotrezniam8475 alto. Tenor is way bigger
She blew my mind
Bravissimi!
I started trying to learn/re-learn recorder after listening to you. I had studied just about a year when I was a boy, and left it at that. I obviously do not expect to become very good, but listening reminded me that it could sound really beautiful!
Wow! 🤯
ik zag je spelen bij de concertgebouw! Mijn oma (zij is nu 83) vind dat je heel moei kan spelen, kusjes van ons allebei :)
Keep posting!
Thank you, very much! I loved the video. A suggestion that came to my mind is to you to post in the description which recorder(s) you're playing.
YEEEEES MORE VIDEOS
Parabéns querida! Você arrasa!
If this is the Lucie Horsch actually playing the recorder and has this channel also....all I can say is you are one of the best recorder players in the world! You have inspired me as well as others to pursue their musical abilities to the fullest. You are an incredible talent and I so enjoyed this score by Anne-Danican Philidor and the intro. Bravo!
Bravo
If anyone here has read the stormlight archive this is how I imagine Hoid plays.
Awesome work mam. It'll be great if you posted more videos of elegant recorder pieces that the general audience (me included) wouldn't have heard.
Dear Lucie Horsch - I have a request: I would love to hear you play the Vivaldi flute concert on one of those cheap plastic recorders (e.g. a pink, transparent one!). I suspect it would sound just as good as if you played it on the most expensive recorder available. A true master can perform magic on any instrument. It would be so much fun - and very cool - if you did that. Greetings from Norway.
Very beautiful!
What recorders did you use and what century is the music from?
Thank you Lucie
Post more please😍😍😍
2:54 bless you sir!
more video please 🤗
Please do the double nostril performance on BR and i would legitimately watch german television again. :D
You should be in a two set video in real life ✨
Found your channel from twoset. And I've got to say, I know nothing about recorder or violin. I'm simply in high school percussion, and im a person that likes music.
rather blown away by your performance. i have a strong desire to learn the recorder now but i have to master the piano first. :D
please do keep posting and maybe put a link to your vevo channel in the description so people can check out your work there.
I am pleased you are starting to post more videos you have control of, the music is simply sublime and my appreciation for the recorder grows. I am Sax player, Tenor and Soprano, though not too good. If I'd discovered recorder sooner I would have enjoyed a broader classical repertoire and saved a fortune on instrument purchase costs...
Well, recorders can be very expensive, although I've heard nice ones which costed 400 to 900 euros. And you can study on Yamaha's resins which are good and VERY cheap as long as you buy the 300 series.
idraote Thank you and yes I have seen some amazing pieces of engineering at the high end of recorder specialist models and low cost quality student models with everything in between. But a good upgrade mouthpiece alone on a sax can cost 100-300 and an intermediate sax 2000-3000. Plus cost of reed’s which are 25+ a box. So for an intermediate sax player costs can escalate quickly. I recognise recorder is not a cheap passion, but more accessible financially for most players and just as opportune for musicians.
@@betterthanisound I see.
That's quite a lot.
You can buy a very fine digital piano for that sum (I mean the ones that sound exceptionally good to most but piano-divas).
On the other hand - small consolation price - sax is loved by many and they always gape at you when you say you can play it.
Recorders enjoy this strange fame of being "childplay" which is entirely unjustified, but it is still so.
What an incredible talent. I would love to hear her interpretation/version of "El Condor Paso", the Recorder.
How about posting your Vivaldi Spring?
I found it stunning and it’s very accessible.
Hey Lucie, I have been a fan since accidentally stumbling on your video of the Vivaldi Flute Concerto (RV 443). I have been listening to it since then (through Apple Music and Spotify). Great to know that you have your personal channel now. Looking forward to more posts from you.
Wow
He plays the lute as when he ist born with it.
*GASP*
Love this video. I'll take anything of yours you want to post. But especially more duets of you with Thomas Dunford--you play beautifully together (you always play beautifully). Also, anything more like your Charlie Parker, Ornithology piece.
Btw, I really liked your concert with the Winnipeg Chamber Orchestra, but it no longer seems to be available. Any chance of reposting it?
So beautiful!! Thank you for posting. Can you tell us about the different instruments you are using?
Bravo! Interesting: The sonata is from the brother (Anne) of the well known chess player Philidor.
Was this a complete duo recital? would love to hear the whole thing
Is this full concert on RUclips somewhere? Link please?
Nice
When a recorder sounds more intricate than a clarinet...
i’m jealous
if you look closely, a clarinet is a single reed and a bunch of metal slapped onto a recorder.
@@lipamanka Ever seen a baroque clarinet? They only have like one valve.
