“A duck tries to fly?!”
Me, confused: *ducks- ducks can fly*
it's a saying in that area and its surrounding
birds meant to fly; ducks meant to walk and.. become food; when a duck tries to fly, it flies only a short way and it's anything but graceful.
So, that phrase means, "yeah, technically you're flying and it's a lot of effort, plz stop because it sucks and you're just not meant to be."

my teacher actually opened this ad to the whole school as “motivation”💀💀
LOL'ed
Same here hahahaha and after tye commercial, I just freaking wonder about the hair. Like what's with the ultra shiny hair x tentacle porn?
Same lol
Same lol
The motivation is "If a deaf girl can play amazing music, what is your excuse, fully hearing lazy students ?" .... That is how Ling ling motivates her students, by destroying them.
I have had a few deaf violin students. In most cases they fell in love with violin before they lost their hearing. Some of them had 10-20% of natural hearing left.
They had to rely on my feedback regarding tone. "Use more bow, more pressure on this finger" etc. As there was some layers of tone quality that they couldn't hear themselves. And similarly for finger placement. I never could say "can you hear that that is flat". I would have to tell them it was flat so they could memorise the feeling of the in tune placement. They would use electronic tuners to get the strings in tune.
Maybe they feel the vibrations of the violin, a sensation that keyboards and woodwinds wouldn't give them. maybe the fact the sound post is so close to the ear means that it engages some of their natural hearing that is left.
A few of my deaf students have completed grade 6 violin. None of them would ever win americas got talent though. But they have been able to have joy in music.
But of course, now I know that all they need is Pantene to exceed all expectations in their playing.
I thought you were gonna say something like this video is offensive but then I read the last sentence lol
I don't think I could hold a job teaching an instrument to deaf kids for long. Too many opportunities for fun.
this story made my week, thank you
Dude, that's super cool. Thank you for helping share joy and art with people who might otherwise be discouraged to pursue their passions.
isn't it also possible for them to check tuning by using a tuner?
My friend is deaf and she plays the clarinet, but she's not completely deaf yet. She told me once that she can feel the vibrations in the reed and uses that to tell if she's sharp or flat. She's really good and a lot of people including me forget that she's deaf
Naisha Sylvestre yeah, as a clarinet player, I can definitely see how a deaf person could play a wind instrument. I have full hearing, and I can feel what octave I’m in or if I’m about to squeak or something in the reed and in my fingers
@@ell4092 I feel it when I play flute but not to the extreme where I can sense flat or sharpness. Wind instrument would definitely be easier than string
ye it's possible to play instruments you don't have to manually adjust to- namely string instruments where finding the right notes and playing them in key and at the right pitch is your responsibility. Piano, clarinet, flute, etc. aren't tuned by the player and are more reliant on pressing the correct things than they are on actually using your hearing so long as you know what to do with your hands (and mouth), i gather
Cool! I wondered if that was possible.
palm tree you do have to listen - notes can be off because of your embouchre, fingering, barrel adjustment, breath support etc. so it’s not exactly just pressing stuff
I wish Pantene gave me talent and luscious hair during a concert. I think the only thing that brand gave me was dandruff

In Korea, students hang themselves to be free from bullying and students die because they're hit too mich. Bullies will mix Fanta or coke or any other drink with school food and force the victims to eat the waste. So yeah, that kind of thing happens in schools. I mean, in America bullies slam your lunch trau, so why not?
how do u know
In Thailand, it doesn‘t different.
@E hmm I don't think they are assuming it is in America, if they were assuming a location it was Korea. They just mentioned what happens in America as another example from a very different place.
But I must say.... as an European I am terrified. No one gets bullied in such way. Words are pretty much the near maximum.
In Slovakia you would most likely get your Behavioural Grade lowered for slamming someones lunch and if you were to repeat it you would get either expelled or in likely hood of repeating the grade.
(You don't have lessons on behaviour or anything but they mark it. If you are normal (not aggressive pretty much or not doing some inappropriate stuff like damaging property) you always get the highest grade automatically.
damn
In Indonesia, most of the time no physical (except if you're from SMPN/SMAN). Usually, bullying in school is like stealing, Bad words, talking behind their back, Vandalizing to school property that the bullied use, Or just discrimination, they don't want to hear what you say/what you do, spilling water on the chair also happen, making rumor. Just turning on my literary analysis side, I think the "close your eyes, you will see" was an attempt at a sort of comparison between her limited sensations. If you close your eyes, you can't see. If you are deaf you can't hear. The old man is trying to make a sort of empowering message that you can do anything you want to, even if your senses seem to be working against you. When you close your eyes, you can see. Even though you are deaf, you can hear. Of course, the logistical aspect of this doesn't really make much sense, but the message and hope are nice.
Very well said! I think it makes perfect sense (metaphorically seen) 😄

As a hard of hearing person, hearing loss varies from person to person, so someone could maybe have enough hearing left to hear the violin notes. I play the keyboard and having a hearing loss. I've also known people who played other instruments.
I‘m not deaf but I agree. Many people don't know the "legally deaf" thing (if your hearing is under a certain threshold, you are deaf, no matter whether you can hear or not). Twoset should apologize for what they say at 7:27, which is pretty ableist. They really ought not to be so ignorant because classic musicians are at high risk of hearing loss due prolonged exposure to loud sounds. Some violinists get hearing loss in left ear because it's the ear that is near to the instrument. I don't know if Brett and Eddy wear earplugs during practicing (they should!).
Apart from this, I'd like to them to talk about hard-to-discuss topic about classic musicians with humor, like hearing problems and use of performance-enhancing drugs (e.g. beta blockers). I think that would be a good video.
*ableist*
Heh...
@mister kluge Hey, you have misunderstood the definition of deaf. It does not just mean someone who can hear nothing at all. Rather it is to be
partially or wholly lacking or deprived of the sense of hearing.
@@cfromnowhere I don't think it's ableist at all, he just genuinely doesn't understand. Most people think deaf = does not hear anything at all, so it makes sense to wonder why she would be able to follow the backtrack perfectly.
@@cfromnowhere They are musicians, honey. Their entire living depends on hearing and listening to music. To be not able to hear, that isn't a reality they can even imagine. Please don't be offended ❤️. They just said they don't understand how it works, just like we don't understand how the world of music works. Well, us non-musicians anyway. Just think from their perspective.
I actually have a friend who is partially deaf and plays the viola, she is very good actually, she practices a lot and has achieved a lot despite people sometimes not being very nice to her about it. I really admire that of her.
Did she go deaf because of the sound of the viola?
There's a time and place for that joke this was neither the time nor the place.
I admire that about her too :) Really happy for her she's learning to play well despite her setback!
I'm happy for your friend. I hope she'll continue her journey as a musician :)
Whether or not its fake is beside the point somethings are better not said. I mean mutual respect is a thing, or maybe not

It IS possible to play instruments while beeing deaf, it demands TONS of practice though (speaking from expirience).
Sincerily, a deaf musician
Can I ask, are you more sensitive to the varying vibrations your instrument makes when playing? ie. can that help you know which notes you're playing?
It's often said/thought that other senses are increased when one of the senses is impaired so I was just wondering if something like that would be more pronounced to you compared to someone without any hearing loss.
@@BlogWhatTheFruitcake it does help but it is very unaccurate, as some notes have the same vibration. I wasnt born deaf so i can imagine the note that im playing, and i can hear some very low pitched notes so i usually play songs that are on that range, but every musician is one of a kind and my way of playing may be different that it is to others.
I guess they were talking from a violin side, coz the girl is playing a violin. I think its harder to feel vibrations of the violin, because its small and high and usually light
I have tons of respect for you, though. I wish you the best!
@@trashcan9153 yeah, playing the violin is very difficult for me, scince youve got to focus a lot on the pitch so i usually play focusin on my hand and making sure im playing the right notes, there are some instruments that are easier to play while beeing deaf, like the piano( wich i play profesionaly) and the drums
@@daniwe3782 Thanks for replying, I've always wondered!
And of course, other things to consider would be what degree of hearing loss a person has etc.
Still, very interesting!

Doris Li you sound like a doc assessing a patient 😅
We bullied a deaf girl, killed a father figure, spouted philosophical musical nonsense, hired thugs to torment the innocent, and smashed a violin - then.....taped it back together..........

I was waiting for them to talk about that? I came down here to say that the bridge isn't straight at all, too, but I don't know how that escaped their notice. ?
OH GOD
Ew, oh my
The bridge was being held by more tape i guess. That violin is magic...it works perfectly with tape around it and being played by a deaf person
I saw that, too!... and waited for a comment. Guess that's what happens when you smash your instrument on the floor and then tape it back together...

Are we just going to ignore the fact that the commercial was four minutes long?
deaf people can read lips. also, it's possible the girl can feel the vibrations of the music.
while Beethoven was deaf, he wasn't born as such and already knew theory and everything. He became deaf later on in life and he learned to compose while deaf through previous knowledge and vibrations of the piano.
Beethoven composed also before he went deaf, so he had that going for him. At around 1812 he completely lost all of his remaining hearing. Still, his best and most known works are after that year. It is not exactly known what made him deaf, but he was reported to be suffering from recurring ear infections. Perhaps something that is treatable in this day and age.
@@ido9988 I believe the conclusion was lead poisoning, as plates back then contained it.
Not everyone can or wants to read lips though.
IDK if you know this but he was also blind lmfaooo

As a Thai, I have to say we are quite adept in creating dramatic commercials like this, lol. The downside is sometimes it gets WAYYYY too dramatic, and the ads doesn't really correlate to the products that they are selling.
