    Oil is far better than grease for a vise - it doesn't attract chips like grease, plus its a whole lot easier to clean off.

    I have the same vise. Check if the jaws are level with the bed, I bet they aren't. I found the top jaw surface where the movable jaw rides was not parallel to the rotating base by .007".
