I put 115,000 miles on an exact same bike. Same Yosh pipe, same color, same frame sliders.. Engine locked up at 115k miles. I found a silver/black one with 14k miles and moved all my mods to the new bike. At 64 years old it may be my last FZ1..
I have this same exact bike. 80k miles on the odo, stone reliable, smooth, comfortable, fast as you could want to go. I’ve had zero issues with this bike…hoping to get to 100,000 miles. A lot of the newer bikes are so much smaller (ergonomically)…which is why I’ll hold onto this one. You’re guaranteed a true nomadic experience because everywhere you go you’ll be shunned by sportbikes, cruisers, BMW guys (they look down on us all), gold wingers, Ducatisti…pretty much every other sub set of riders!
I have a 2001 same color. Absolute beast. Ivans jet kit, racetech fork internals and s1000rr rear shock upgrade. And a gearing change. Total wheelie machine. Great for tall riders. Lots of room and comfort. Keeps up with modern super sports no problem. Well, at least to 150 lol.
I had an '02 from '04 to '07.....sold it and left the street riding and went back to dirt and stayed there until about 2010. Sold the dirt bike and was bikeless for about 13 years until hitting the pavement again in Dec/22 with an FJR. In March/23 I traded that rocket powered locomotive for a much lighter VStrom 650 and had a blast until selling it a few weeks ago....and replaced that with an '05 FZ1.....1st gen....right after sitting on it I quickly remembered how comfortable it is.....and it'll fly. Can't wait for better weather.
this is my former bike. I traded it in for a new GASGAS. She was kept in a garage for 5 years while i owned it, I used top notch wax and plastic protection. Amazing bike will dust 600s no problem
Ohhhh that white VFR 700 was one of my dream bikes, I love the gear drive sound. That was a great bike back in the day a comfortable sport bike and the white looked awesome
I am a young squid and own one of these, it can do everything from putting around to the grocery store, getting through heavy NJ / NYC traffic, and carving up twisty roads at stupid speeds.
Looks like a pretty comfy seating position too. Good looking bike & a decent investment. I was more into big cruiser hot rod types but I'd proudly ride that.
I just sold an 05 at the end of last year. It is a fantastic bike that has excellent mid range power. Difficult to find plastics for and there were a few other parts that took me some time to track down. Seems all the parts are in the UK. If you were to buy a first gen, which I personally recommend over the second gen with their stator issues and such. Overall good fun bike sits comfortably and can keep up with most anything
Kind of wondered why you guys never showcased too many bikes from the FZ lineup. I'd assume its because they are extremely well designed the owners tend to hold onto them for the long term haha. Every now and then I'll see one in my area for sale and the odometers are always pushin high numbers like 40-50k range with hiccups from the engine.
@@brandonvaccaro2960I agree. The frame is better and fuel injection is nice but there were some issues. Still reliable for the most part. Much more cramped cockpit too. Tougher on taller riders.
The 2nd gen felt like you were riding dirt bike or supermoto, whereas the first generation (2001 to 2005) felt like you were riding a real sport touring motorcycle.
I believe they are supposed to go 152 mph on the top end, but most people add a tooth to the rear sprocket and a jet kit to the carbs. The added tooth will limit the top end to around 147 mph and add even more torque to this already very very quick and torque heavy motorcycle. Mine was going 0 to 100 mph in 5.5 seconds with an extra rear tooth, and Akapovic pipe, and jet kit on the carbs.

long live yamaha 🇺🇸
I've owed two of these and they are the best all around street bikes I have ever rode. Simple, comfortable and fast... I mean really fucking fast.
Absolutely beautiful machine. 2005 FZ1 blue was my first bike and loved it. Now on a VMAX still missing the FZ1

Nice additions you did, the Yosimura pipes & gold levers look cool.
Atta boy, she’s well represented.
Awesome 👌
Those gasgas bikes are stunning, that suspension is fire 🔥
One of my favorite all time bikes! Beauty!

I have a limited edition black and yellow '03. Bought with 27K, now has 77K. Lots of fun!!! Also, love the center stand!!!!
Nice bike for “older” riders. I will be in the market for this type of more relaxed sport bike soon. This is a dime piece. 👍👍
My brother just bought a brand new ninja 1000sx. Super comfortable.
I am a young squid and own one of these, it can do everything from putting around to the grocery store, getting through heavy NJ / NYC traffic, and carving up twisty roads at stupid speeds.
Best old school all arounder ever made imo
Timeless gem 💎
Once again...WOWY WOW WOW!!🤩🇺🇸👍
Damn, That is one truly gorgeous bike. Love that shade of blue. Bike looks brand new, like it just got rolled off the showroom floor.
Japanese engineers are pretty crazy when you get down to it. And I love them.

They are very dependable and fun, I have a 2001 same color in mint shape jetted and micron high mount pipe , and other mods . Keep up the good work 👍
I had the 2001 fz1000 great bike 👍
Thanks Ken a beast of a bike
Gen1 FZ1’s are bad to the bone!
Man that thing sounds wicked
Sweet looking bike!
Had an 06 and swapped the fairing for the euro headlight assy to make it the N version since it never came to the states
pure mechanical...real riding
I like the sound of the Delkevic 14” on mine a lot better.
Had a go of a fzr750 and that was a beautiful machine 😍

Do you know what brand those from sliders are by chance ?
I have the same ones. They're OES brand frame sliders. There are 2 lengths you can get. I got the longer ones. Work great.
@@thomasblake7046 thanks. The ones I first tried didn't have a long enough bolt for either frame or engine mount hole
I owned tbe exaxt same uear and cor Fz1 , it was a beast, until O got my busa..loved it though wish I never sold it
Lovely bikes I had the 600
They got better in every way with the 2006 model.
no they didnt. stator problems, cracked frames and bad ecu tuning made them the less desireable bike in the long run.

The dimensions on these sport touring bikes are odd. Clean bike!! Looks brand new! Always with the perfect machines!
I'm over in Washington State. I've seen a bunch of your bone-yard videos. Are motorcycle graveyards a common thing on the East Coast?
Yes
Yamahaaaaaa fazer 1000!!!!!🚀🚀🚀🚀🦾🦾🦾👌👌👌👌🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
My mint 06 FZ1 is retailing at about 6500 , that's an 06 ,second gen mod, I'll never sell
The oil looks like it has water in it
It really did..
i love mine, sadly it’s got slipping 2nd gear.

wow
I’m looking for the 600 version off this as I watch ,😂but mk 1
Open it up ken.
beautiful fz1 i sounds sweet prefer to my i ave an old 98 yam R1 but it makes my arms sore
459 pounds dry light weight lmaoooo
Spectacular sport cruiser. Comfortable for long rides sporty enough for the mountain switch backs
Why won't it stay running without the constant throttling?
I wanna see the 165 claim. Highest I've got mine was 150mph 03 FZ1000 and I don't think it had anything left
Thata avout right got mine to 147 on I95 south going ro dc from delaware. Good to have police creds in Your possession at 2am in the morning lol
Video is up on my channel, tastefully modded, it runs

02 here I’ve gotten mine to about 174 on the dash so I’m guessing that’s 155-160 ish. Bike is a monster.
nice
