Coincidentally Deb hosted the first Kids Choice Awards in 1988 and decades later was one of the judges on “America Most Musical Family” reality show that aired on the channel.
2/8/88 was a Monday. I had turned 12 the day before. I was into roller skating on friday 7-11 pm & they played Debbie Gibson at the skating rink a lot.. I grew up in the deep south so Debbie's Long Island accent sounded weird to me.
It's so weird looking at Debbie from a different point of view. She's a year older than me. She seemed so mature back then. Now I'm about to turn 52, and this old footage makes her look like a kid. 😅 I still love me some Debbie! I've been a loyal Debhead since 1987, before the term "Debhead" was a thing.
