Being able cook amazing food, have a good time (enjoy the small things) and survive everything our beautiful but harsh state throws at is in our blood down here in Cajun Country. Why ya think we have so many festivals .... Cajuns were sent down to a part of the country where survival wasn't really expected. So getting together, cooking some good food, and kicking our shoes off and having a good time in celebration that we made it through another week is branded in who we are as cajuns. It's not a job that we could/can just clock out of its a way of life and we learned to cope by celebrating the small things ---> "Laissez les bons temps rouler" is how we deal with things 😆 We work hard, so we can play hard!!
I had the best dinner of my life in New Orleans. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name and couldn't find it again if I tried. It was down a dark alley and up some stairs and it didn't look like there should even be a restaurant there, which probably describes many of them. But they sure knew how to make a meal!
I have two co-workers from Louisiana that cook for everybody once a month and everybody kicks them a few bucks. I think it's a law that if you're from Louisiana, you have to be a good cook.
I do not understand how you don't have several hundred thousand subscribers! Your videos are such a joy to watch. The things you are choosing to experience, here in the U.S., are a really nice mix of education and entertainment. I was so excited, several videos back, when you went to Old Sturbridge Village, and then the drive in theater, in Mansfield, CT. I grew up in Sturbrudge, and live very close to that drive in. My daughter used to live above the package store near the drive in entrance. At any rate, thank you for making these videos. I enjoy them very much.
Hi Marie, I think that may have been your best adventure yet, I really enjoyed it. Your airboat guide was great and very knowledgable. But I kept worrying that big old gator was going to jump up and grab my favorite French girl! You're experiencing parts of America most of us don't have the time or money to see, so your videos are a fun way to explore new things.
Gators aren't generally aggressive toward humans. The true wild gators are much more afraid of you than you are of them, they're quick to run away if you get too close. These farm raised gators know you're not a danger, rather you bring them food. Of course any gator is always still dangerous, but it's not like a crocodile. You won't see people playing games like this with the crocs.
You must find it fascinating that your countrymen of old, the Acadians, chose the swamps of Louisiana and Alabama Bayou to settle in and create a whole new culture. One very much appreciated in America.
As I said in a separate comment, les Acadienes did not choose the swamps of Louisiana. Who wants to live in a swamp? They were exiled from Acadie and had to settle for what they could get. Half of them settled for death. Louisiana was a Spanish colony when the first Cajuns arrived. The Spaniards wanted settlers, and the Cajuns were as good as any, and better than most because France was, like Spain, an enemy of England. I am a direct descendant of one of the exiles who wound up in Louisiana in 1764 after being driven from Acadie (now part of Nova Scotia). Those people were more accustomed to snow than swamp water. That's why old fashioned Cajun houses had peaked roofs, which are designed for heavy snow, something that never came to pass in southern Louisiana.
The airboat captains are all interesting people, I've known a few of them. They have big personalities, and are highly knowledgeable. In fact, one of those airboat tour guides, Jeremey Dufrene, is married to the singer, Lana Del Ray.
Your face when he opened up that airboat and took off...priceless! Your sense of amazement at all things new is wonderful Marie. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures of discovery 😁
I was raised in the big city but visited family in Louisiana every summer. That's where I learned to ride horses, shoot guns, and catch really big fish! Great childhood memories.
Wow! I'm so happy for you. I spent over 20 years in New Orleans, and I have an extensive background in Biology, etc. Let me tell you (re-inforce for you) that the guy you had for your air-boat ride truly knew his sh*t. Absolutely EVERYTHING he was telling you was completely accurate.. So glad you got an insight into the bayou and south Louisiana that wasn't just tourist hype. Hope you continue to enjoy your explorations!!
It is so cool watching you explore the southern U.S., glad you are enjoying it. Plus, it is always great seeing Marie in her natural habitat, a Mustang.
This video is probably my favorite of all you have made because you got to do and see things that a lot of people will never do or see themselves and looks like you had a blast the entire time!
"Polk Salad Annie, Gator's Got Your Grannie, Chomp, Chomp !" ...from the song, "Polk Salad Annie" (1968. -- originally sung by Tony Joe White, & later covered by 'the king' himself.) Whenever I see an airboat, I'm reminded of the line from TBBT, when Penny mockingly referred to a full-scale replica of a time machine ( from the iconic movie of the same name), as looking like something that Elton John would drive through the Everglades. Kudos on your latest adventure !
I can say with certainty that your boat tour was really close to the real experience. He definitely put that tour boat in places his boss won't be happy about 😂😂
Nah.... with the advertising they are gonna get from Marie's video here... and how much education Chad gave them and created such a positive fun experience that they'll be telling so many people about.... his Boss isn't going to care one bit. Hell... might give him a raise for it! LOL 😀
His boss won't care. Passing through and over that terrain is exactly what it is made for. They have to be made super durable, because the last thing somebody would want is to hit a floating log or pass over something that damages the hull of the boat and they get stuck deep in the swamp cus there ain't no walking back. Up until recent years people didnt carry cell phones and VHF radios only reach so far so calling for help was not an option (still not really an option cus cell service out there is nonexistent....no cell towers ->no service)
I have a friend who worked as an airboat tour captain for a couple of years, he once told me about one of the other guides that he worked with. More often than not, when this other guy would return to the dock, at least a couple of the passengers on his boat would be wet and muddy, and they would all be jacked up with adrenaline and talking about what an adventure it was. So Devin asked the guy "What is going on here?" Dude told him, if he feels that he has the right people on his tour, he gets the airboat "stuck" in the mud/marsh. Then he'll get at least a few of the passengers to go in the water/marsh to "push" the boat free. LOL. It's virtually impossible to stick an airboat! The folks never had a clue that he was just putting on a show, but he got the biggest tips and best Google reviews out of any of the other guides. Hey, if it works, and people enjoy it!
Glad your enjoying my home state! I was born and raised in Louisiana. My mothers side came to Louisiana in 1700 from France, my first ancestor Sur Pierre Rachal St. Denis (born 27 Jan 1697 - St Denis, France. Died 17 Apr 1756 - Natchitoches, Louisiana ) came to build a fort (Fort Natchitious) to stop Spanish incursion into the area in what was then French Louisiana. He also helped establish Fort Rosalie in Natchez, Mississippi. My Dad's side came from England arriving in Virginia in 1685. We are also a Pioneer family in Brookhaven, Mississippi, I see Mississippi is on your itinerary as well. I look forward to your next adventure in the Deep South.
Haha. You really are obsessed with Mustangs. You were showing all the rain from the night before, and then the camera is back on the car and we hear: “So pretty”. Like a man seeing a beautiful woman walk by. It’s so great how much you love that car!
Hi my French friend (marie) my family and I love your adventures here in the u.s., my daughters wanted to tell you that white convertible mustang is totally you! Always wachting, be safe our French friend!
Marie, what a wonderful surprise for you to experience. Life is a massive collection of memories that we have the opportunity to share with friends and family and pass along to our children and grandchildren. I'm sure this will be one at the top of your list! Keep on living and having fun here in the US! You are a part of our family so thank you for sharing this with us!!!!! Many happy days to come!!!
I’ve lived in Louisiana all my life, and I learned more about gators today then ever. Great video! Copelands was my late mother’s favorite place to eat… great food.
Watch the Gatorland VLOG on YT. Some of them are silly, and some are informative. They have several different crocodiles too. There is a Nile Crocodile in their pond that makes the alligators look small. I'm surprised he doesn't eat the alligators!
Marie, it's awesome that you got to hold a gator, even if it was a really little one. The one I held was a lot bigger. It had been raised by humans and was very well-fed and always wanted to be held because it liked people's body heat. I love that you got to experience an air boat ride and that you were out there for a few hours so you could really enjoy and absorb it. Thanks for bringing us all along with you. Take care and keep smiling! 😃
I'm so glad to see your videos, especially when you visit places I haven't been to yet. I would love to visit New Orleans, especially the World War 2 museum. And your adventures with the airboat look like a lot of fun! Keep up the great content, and I'm glad you are enjoying the United States!
25:5725:57 😊💪That was a totally awesome video Marie!!! Seeing Chad feed and play with a gator was super cool and hilarious!!! Most people in this world, would no way put their hands anywhere near that Gator's mouth. It's so cool to see people who have absolutely no fear. The feeling that you had holding that baby gator and playing with it like it's pet cat, was super cool and awesome. It's probably hard for you to actually believe that you did that. You are definitely living a dream. I think your one that has no fear. I think you need just some experience with something untried, then you're good to go and totally enjoy the experience.❤😮
You are experiencing some the very best of Louisiana! Even after so many extraordinary adventures during your travels, this one is shaping up to be extra special. So happy for you. Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks for the video! I grew up in NO (shout out Holy Cross) and this brings back so many memories spent in a jon boat fishing, duck hunting and enjoying nature.
I’m glad you enjoyed our state. I’m biased but I really think Louisiana is the most unique state in the Union. I’ve lived in 5 states and there’s nothing quite like Louisiana.
You're so cool. I like watching your videos because of how you get so immersed in whatever you're doing, and how you explain the experience and your feelings about it. It's truly wonderful experiencing things I may never do through your eyes. What an amazing life you have.
I've seen pics, I've drove past it, but I never knew there was so much to learn about the Bayou. That tour guide was outstanding!!! Thank you for sharing this adventure with us.
Marie, I have been following you in just about all of you videos, especially in American, as well as your videos at Normandy, which were so heart warming! But you have seen more of American at first hand than 90-95 % of all Americans. You have toured so many states, and taken on tours, walks, eateries, stores, natural beauty so much more! What a fantastic life you are living. I have been fortunate to travel to 45 of the 50 states, and have not done or seen some of the places or trips or events that you have. Keep i up! I am so happy for you that you are able to come over here so often and and actually follow your dreams! I just love your overall enthusiasm!
FYI: Unless the subtitles are for your friends and family that may not speak English so well, I personally don't think they are necessary any more for your English speaking audience. I feel that your mastery of English is very good, and your accent is not terribly thick. I have no problem at all understanding you, and you speak so well that I can't imagine any native English speaker having any problem understanding your English. Your English has improved considerably over the past few years since I've been watching you. Also, that tour looked great. I'm in Houston, and gators are fairly rare here, and our bayou is more _technically_ a bayou and not wild like that. I spent some years as a teenager in Florida, and we had gators there but my exposure to them was them in the canals in the city, not in the wilderness. I really want to go take a vacation in Louisiana now.
I find the swamp and bayou so beautiful! I bike on a rail-trail in Florida through a swamp and just love it. Wildlife galore! Alligators and snakes often sun themselves on the trail.
WOW! I was so hoping that you would get the full experience of Louisiana, and you did. I'm really happy for you. We folks who grew up around this area have had this experience many times as we have aged. It is such a true pleasure to be able to share these experiences with visitors and travelers. You got to hold a baby. That is cool. He is not yet big enough for a snack. 😋😁 I do hope that you get to tour the plantations around New Orleans. I really enjoyed it. Be safe and as always, have fun. 🤠
Gators are so cute in a way...What a great time you had! Cypress trees are one of my all tie favorite trees. You can grow them in water or on dry ground. They have such great character, and you'll never see one fall over, not even in a hurricane.
Wow!! Marie 😳 ⚜️ 🐊 Livin wild on the Bayou , What a Rush 🍃🚤 hold on tight , Ha ha your face says it all. It really is like being in another world that time forgot gliding through the cypress trees. Chad was a great guide & sure did know everything about Gator's , what a thrill to get that up close to one , looks like he's had plenty of experience & can handle him. It's super cool you got to hold a hatchling calling out to it's moma , it's fascinating learning all about there Anatomy. What sex they are is determined by what temperature it is , there eyes glow red in the dark & the males roar to attract a mate. There definitely badasses when it comes to fighting , it's remarkable that they can leap that high , you don't wanna mess about & find out , how gruesome to eat one another. I'm guessing you know about the death roll after watching Crocodile Dundee , it wouldn't surprise me if there are character's like that in the Swamps. It's said if your being chased by a Gator it's best to run zigzagging because they tire easily. I'm also glad you spotted a 🦅 Nest. Your club 🌮 looked delicious , all the flavors they have there must have made a lasting impression 😋 I'm Happy you had a blast exploring more of the Bayou & ha lived to tell the tail , that's a good feeling being tired. Merci beaucoup for the wonderful series , looking forward to your return to the sunshine state & Airshow hope you go onboard a WW2 Bomber , a Mustang P-51 would be amazing & eventually visit Daytona Beach Speedway vroom vroom or the Kennedy 🚀 Center. Enjoy all the sights traveling cross country in your marvelous mustang. God speed , take care on the freeways , God speed Au Revoir Marie 😁 💞✌️✨
Of the videos I've watched on this channel, this was my favorite! I've always thought it would be fun to do an airboat tour in the Everglades of Florida or just explore the Everglades. Looks like the bayous may be simular. Good stuff.
Wow! Marie, you look like you had so much fun on the airboat tour, you made me want to be there! Your happiness is so infectious. And the baby gator is so pure Marie. THANK YOU SO MUCH!😁
Glad you are enjoying the devirsity and different cultures the USA has to offer. America has beautiful lands from coast to coast. Really enjoying watching your adventures !
The reason they use a fan instead of an outboard is that the outboard would get fouled by things in the water. As you experienced, the air boat can cross land in some cases, especially with grass. The Higgins boats were designed for use in the bayou but were adapted for use as landing craft.
There are boats with the motors inside and not as much "depth" too (shallow-water boats my dad use to call them), but they are more expensive than outboards and air boats.
"Hey" from the Tampa Bay area of Florida, USA. Hope ya doing outstanding. Excellent video ! IMHO this was one of the best videos you've created. Ya true honest enjoyment was expressed throughout the video making it interesting and I felt as if I was experiencing it along with ya. Well done. Looking forward to ya next video on ya way to Florida for the air show. Have fun, safe travels and keep smiling. :)
Glad tou enjoyed our little peace of heaven here in Louisiana❤
Louisiana is uniquely magical and mysterious. They know how to have fun and they know how to cook.
We do!!!! 🥰😃
Being able cook amazing food, have a good time (enjoy the small things) and survive everything our beautiful but harsh state throws at is in our blood down here in Cajun Country. Marie!! You held a dinosaur and let it bite you!! So cool!! 😎👍
You got a really good guide. Always love seeing you having fun.
I agree. He recognizes the personality of his customers and plays to it. He did a great job.
I do not understand how you don't have several hundred thousand subscribers! Your videos are such a joy to watch. At any rate, thank you for making these videos. I enjoy them very much.
I'd love to see you have a conversation in French with French-speaking Cajuns. ⚜
It's coming! 😎

You keep a gator fed with your lunch, you generally don't become its lunch.

The Lana Del Ray thing is cool as hell.
Agreed. I've been on a few air boat tours in the Everglades, different captains every time and all of them were as fun and unique as the last.
Dang. Old bull gators be the mafia bosses of the Swamp.
Your face when he opened up that airboat and took off...priceless! Your sense of amazement at all things new is wonderful Marie. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures of discovery 😁
My home. I've moved but everything about this video just runs through my blood. So glad you enjoyed it!
I was raised in the big city but visited family in Louisiana every summer. That's where I learned to ride horses, shoot guns, and catch really big fish! Great childhood memories.
Marie, you might be the first French visitor to get a lesson like this about Alligators.
Wow! I'm so happy for you. I spent over 20 years in New Orleans, and I have an extensive background in Biology, etc. Let me tell you (re-inforce for you) that the guy you had for your air-boat ride truly knew his sh*t. This video is probably my favorite of all you have made because you got to do and see things that a lot of people will never do or see themselves and looks like you had a blast the entire time!
I learned more about Gators than I expected. Good job Mr Guide.
I am so impressed you did an airboat tour how exciting. That company was so professional. I could tell your experience was very enjoyable.

I love to hear the Cajun accent.

The food, the people and the place, nothing else like Louisiana.
I know you like language help, the plural of deer is deer no “s” on the end, great show I really enjoy sharing your experiences.
That looked super fun! Your final thoughts at the end were awesome. Can't wait to see the air show!
What a great "private" tour of the bayou. Your guide was the best!
I'm so glad you had a good time. South Louisiana is such a special place. So few get to experience what you have.
I’ve lived in Louisiana all my life, and I learned more about gators today then ever.

I just went to gator school. Great video. So cool knowing the Bald Eagles are breeding and thriving there too.
Airboats are so fun, makes the experience of exploring the swamp lands more exhilarating.

Love to see people having fun
Marie : "I'm going to the bayou"
Is that the bayou by you, or the bayou by me?
No, it's bayou self.
Awww bb gators are some of my favorite animal babies! Their little chirps are so cute & awesome! 11:25
You're so cool. I like watching your videos because of how you get so immersed in whatever you're doing, and how you explain the experience and your feelings about it. It's truly wonderful experiencing things I may never do through your eyes. What an amazing life you have.
Thanks ☺️ glad you're enjoying the videos

baby gators are ADORABLE, I've held a few of them and they are so cute. I think the biggest I've held was around 2 feet and it was so fun.

Thank you 🙏
I find the swamp and bayou so beautiful!
I'm so glad you had the opportunity to experience this !
the Louisiana bayou swamps are very primordial looking.
Gators are so cute in a way...What a great time you had! Cypress trees are one of my all tie favorite trees. You can grow them in water or on dry ground. They have such great character, and you'll never see one fall over, not even in a hurricane.
Awesome video!
It is Bayou Marie! 🦩🐢🐍🐊🐸🦐🦀
Wow!! Marie 😳 ⚜️ 🐊
Livin wild on the Bayou , What a Rush 🍃🚤 hold on tight , Ha ha your face says it all.
Your club 🌮 looked delicious , all the flavors they have there must have made a lasting impression 😋
I'm Happy you had a blast exploring more of the Bayou & ha lived to tell the tail , that's a good feeling being tired.
Sounds like a lot of fun! Bon temps! I knew you wold love Louisiana. ❤🤍💙
Wow. Amazing experience
The night Bayou tours are really amazing also. Super spooky.
convertible life: as long as it isn't raining: top down heater on full blast if it's cold out (yes...even at night)
Super video as always!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL.. loving the Saints hat in the Intro!
Fantastic video Marie. What a spectacular day. Enjoy the air show.
AMAZING VIDEO! 😁 thank you for taking us on the bayou with you 👍☺
Of the videos I've watched on this channel, this was my favorite! I've always thought it would be fun to do an airboat tour in the Everglades of Florida or just explore the Everglades. Looks like the bayous may be simular. Good stuff.
Marie about to smuggle a baby gator back to France. 😂🐊🇫🇷
That air boat looked like it was so much fun! Great job on the video Marie, it was good! ❤
So glad to see her visit the state I am in!
Yes, yes, ysz . . finally. Biggest grin ever.
Looks like you're having a blast. A little scared at times though. 😀
The real fun is when a mullet or bass jumps up in front of the air boat you are riding!
Wow! Marie, you look like you had so much fun on the airboat tour, you made me want to be there! Your happiness is so infectious. And the baby gator is so pure Marie. THANK YOU SO MUCH!😁
Love from Nashville, love your channel. That's part of your heritage in Louisiana.
I'm from southeast Louisiana and I'm glad to see you have so much fun in my home state.
According to my DNA results I'm 67 percent French.
Glad you are enjoying the devirsity and different cultures the USA has to offer. America has beautiful lands from coast to coast. Really enjoying watching your adventures !
Yeah for sure that looked like a good time. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
You did really well. Nothing scary. So happy you had a great time.
A day of airboat riding will work your core, no question. It's no wonder you were exhausted. It's a sign of day spent playing hard. 👍
I bet Louisiana is Marie's favorite new state. Some even speak French there.
"It actually smells good, like cat food!" 😂
🤣🤣
Glad you had a fun time on they bayou. Thanks for sharing 👍
Is she coming to Sun 'n Fun?
I was there a couple of years ago but passed on the bayou tour but after seeing this I’ll be back. It looks like fun. Thanks Marie.
It was great to see you having death grips on the boat for the first few minutes, to laughing and hanging loose doing donuts on the way back
Toujours Heureux quand voussant si Heureux apres une adventure!
C’est si bon! Laissez les bontemps rouler!
