I had the honor of being a standard bearer during the Senior US Open at Inverness in 2011. Langer was in the final group on Saturday and I was the standard bearer for that group. Not only was he very gracious, but invited me inside the clubhouse where he signed his card. He then signed two golf balls and his glove, which I still have. Nicest guy you’d ever meet. And if you watch closely after Tiger’s 2019 Masters win on Sunday Langer was right there at the end to shake his hand and congratulate him.
You deserve your comforts in retirement, Mr Coleman and come across as a true gentleman. It can't have always been easy to caddie for the players you bagged, for various reasons.
Great guy Peter is. One thing about the wheel: It got different readings depending on whether you were walking into or down grain. Also moisture made it slip ever so slightly. Some caddies were so good at walking yards, they did better than the wheel. They practiced on US football fields. The visibility of pushing that wheel around did help get jobs, same as going to Tuesday's PGA Tour Bible Study.
Pete, I am fairly certain you were at the Irish Club Finals at Rosses Point in 1982, and you caddied for a Limerick man, Billy Rice. Remembering your story about Bernhard. You gave him a yardage one time from a 150 marker, and he asks you is it from the front of the disk or the back of it 😃😃😃😃😃. Memories !!!!! Thanks Pete.
Langer is one of the hardest working, most driven players ever. He's gotten the most out of his talent by totally dedicating himself to perfecting his game. Respect.
I wish these interviews were longer. These caddies worked during a halcyon era where the best players were incredible and winning really changed their lives. If you can release longer versions of the interviews the richer we would all be for it. Todays players and caddies offer very little.
Easiest player to have caddied for years ago, was probably Trevino. His caddy Herman Mitchell and him, always seemed to have had a merry time, throughout their career together
@@davidr5961 SEEMED = thst was mostly an act the Merry Mex was a lot more mex than merry when the cameras weren't around - still a fabulous shotmaker but that happy go lucky guy was the way he handled pressure

He said at the start of the interview that his wife ran off with the neighbor and took the kids so he asked himself why he was doing all this work on the railways, and why didn't he do something he loved, so he started caddying.
+Chris B minahil ch didn't ask why, she asked How! probably is asking just what he did specifically to get to caddy. did he just walk up to a pro say I wanna caddy for you, do you go to caddy college, big big big difference between WHY and HOW! habloirlandes and yourself need to Google Why vs How...duh.
maybe was a golfer himself in a club a tournament could of been on he got into it that way and had some fortune. the rest were having a beer he was more thorough and that would have made him stand out seve would pick up on that behaviour
i could see there being serious differences between the mentality of a professional athlete, and a person who chooses to pursue being a caddy as a career. In my mind, I can only imagine that professional athletes would be 'hard' compared to a caddy, but its all relative
I wonder why the wife would end the marriage. He seems nice, but we all play different roles in the play of life, but he seems like a really good bloke and a fine mate.
watch the video of the Jack Nicklaus Master win of 1986 and watch how miserable Seve is to playing partner Tom Kite who also had a great chance to win.
Wow, finally someone else noticed, watched it many times, it's very noticeable especially when Tom missed a putt that would have tied and instantly Seve lined up his putt basically between Tom's feet. Gamesmanship for sure, some say single mindedness, some say lack of respect, courtesy
So the same melancholic repetitive piano for the whole freaking video. As if the old guy is telling stories about losing his entire family in the Titanic disaster.
i have to laugh at my comments. i just saw this video and then saw the comments where i commented on it 4 years ago. of course, i don't remember doing it. i just have to laugh at myself. tee hee
Top bloke. This is true insight into 2 giants of the game. RIP Seve, and upwards for Langer.
what a nice man. That's all you need to be. Kind, considerate, responsible. Definition of success.

Nice story. I used to belong there. You from Toledo?
Captain Sunday Yep!
So the complete opposite of Seve then.
It's the stories about the man that no one hears about that speak volumes. Thanks for sharing.

What a great bloke, didn't realise he caddied for Seve. Enjoyed that!
Pete Coleman EVERY credit mate 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This was the best effort I have seen on this channel.

humble man, glad to hear the story of his successful career.
True Gent. Unsung hero of golf and their players success.

Peter would help other caddies make it possible to survive by organizing sponsorship caps we would wear for a local company etc, Thanks Peter.
Great humble character.
Well, this was a lot more interesting than I expected. Seems like a really interesting, down to earth guy.

What is the name of the song that comes in at 2:30?
Pete, what was your fast car you bought?
There was a sayin....is Bernie any good...Pete drives a Porsche!!!!!😮😄😄😄👍😉
What a story. Wish he said how he started caddying / switched careers

Hey Paul do you sell slabs?
Referring to Langer in the past tense “were” makes it seem like he’s also deceased.
No, it doesn't.
Intentional Offside he caddied in the past that’s why
60 wins in 20 years is about as good a record as anyone in golf!
Great caddy 👍
Genius is never easy
More like narcissist?
Not true. Common decency isn’t mutually exclusive with genius talent or intelligence. Used as a handy excuse way too often.
his wife left him for another guy and took the kids. Aren't women great. But, while u r at work i know u don't have to worry about your woman!
I remember pete saying langer was the meanest person he ever know.
then pete has not met my wife.

Hardly said anything of significance.
