  • Hi folks
It's no secret that I love Studio One as my DAW of choice for Mastering. There are so many great features available in Studio One that I had to create a mini series showing how I use Studio One for Mastering.
This video is video 1 in a 3 part series in which I show you how I set up Studio One 5 by using the Song Page (yes that's right, the Project Page comes later).
The Song Page comes with lots of great features including Event based processing, Volume Automation, Clip Gain Envelopes and Mixer Scenes to name but a few which make it great for Mastering Processes.
In this video I walk you through how to create my Custom Mastering Template, how to Import Songs into the session and how to arrange them using my custom Macros making the session setup a breeze.
In next weeks video we'll be going through how I use Studio One specifically to Master a Song including how I use the stock features and plugins available.
If you would like to know how I create the custom macros then make sure you give this video a watch:

absorbing, and thanks. 2 points of enquiry. firstly why wouldn't you use S1's mastering page for doing multi track mastering?...(i've only watched part 1 thus far, so maybe you address that in part 3), secondly, which is a two part thing and a slight 'annoyance' with S1, why don't they allow the master channel to be widened in the console view...(in fact all channels) i don't mean to the extend of 'narrow and wide' toggle that's included but like in cubase and in ableton where you have greater flexibility to zoom with the W or E key (in this case it would mirror cubase's G n' H key mapping). the other thing i've not found a work around for is exporting a track in two formats at simultaneously, eg. mp3 & .wav.....makes the mastering stage so much easier to have both files rendered at the same time.....the breakdown on the macro's ways interesting and looking forward to pt 2 n' 3.

      Hi Steve
Thanks for watching and thanks for your question.
The Song Page allows for greater flexibility than the Project Page as the Project Page doesn’t have quite as many features. So for example Volume Automation is a useful tool for Mastering which is not available in the Project Page, Clip Gain Envelopes, Macros, Event Based Processing, Mixer Scenes are all available in the Song Page only.
In terms of the other parts let me look into those as I have a version of Cubase 11 to cross reference against.
In terms of the file formats I want to look at the Batch Converter too as I wonder if this might help.
Leave those with me and I’ll take a look for you 👍🏻

@@ProgressiveSoundAudio coolio on the write back..muchos gracias.....and thanks on the head up ...i didn't even realize that i'd loaded in batch converter as part of presonus sphere.....i liked the background of why you've opted towards song page rather than project page and from how you describe it all makes good sense....like i said a really well put together and highly informative......
