Saw this commercial yesterday. Still disappointed about the blocky appearance. Kids will say 'IT'S JUST A RIPOFF OF MINECRAFT!!!!1!11!" way more than ever before.

Because 3D printers are more expensive than computers. They did a lot of coding but you need to buy a 3D printer, computer, and colored plastic (also expensive) and 3D models are very hard to make (you only have a limited amount of shapes to use (at least Paint 3D does).) and they made large models trying to look mostly ( *exactly in that shape) made of cubes. Re-Logic gave *someone else* permission to make these, and the company that made them care more about money than the people who buy them. Also they made it less violent so they should get more money for letting young children be able to enjoy it (even though it's probably because more people would buy it).
This looks exactly like element animation's crappy terraria series.

Michael Riley Terraria is a T rated game, even if you can turn the gore off now. Some overprotective parents don't want 7 and 8 year olds playing T-rated games, even if there isn't any danger. But still, I see your point.

Terraria is a combination of FIGHT BACK THE DARKNESS and SLAUGHTER IT ALLLL and build a cute pixel art pikachu. This commercial reflects none of this.

This has nothing to do with Terraria. It looks like some vietnamese-produced ripoff (of something that doesn't exist. I.e.Terraria toys where you could actually build something). I love the game, but this? Even Minecraft did better with Lego - there you could at least build stuff, although the price was extreme and the sets tiny. Re-Logic: I LOVE your game, but this is just awful.. On the other hand - bills gotta be paid, i know.. :-/

Of course, there's plenty of kids too, but most play video games and not with toys. Then again, maybe my stats are wrong because most kids don't go on servers. Maybe not. Why a play-set? why not Lego with terraria pieces, so you can actually "build?
If they came out with a Lego Terraria wave, I would lay on my bed and cry of joy.
"You can customize your play set by removing and adding a new biome" or... you could just paint your current one purple. It'll literally be the same thing.

I think Terraria would be better suited for Lego (or one of their competitor) sets. There's tons of characters and biomes to discover and explore in the game, and with the randomly generated worlds, you'd be able to assemble a wide variety of mix and match landscapes with actual building blocks. Plus, if you're going to market the idea of Terraria as "Dig, Fight, Build" it makes a bit more sense to have sets where you can actually do that. A couple pre made holes, a token mob, and stacking three playsets on top of each other doesn't really cut it.
Plus, not a huge fan of the figures they've released for this. The characters in the game are kinda cute. These, not so much.
It's nice to see the game getting some love, but the kid in me wishes it got better than this.
Keep one thing in mind guys:
Commercials make EVERYTHING look bad. You ever seen Splatoon's commercials? Yeah. They make the game look really stupid. But Splatoon's REALLY good. I'm sure these toys are better than the commercial.

As happy as I am for you guys on achieving televised commercials, this just felt wrong. The quality of the toy feels poor, it confused the hell out of what demographic the game is for, and the animation was equivalent to the unfortunate sellout of Terraria: the Animated Series by Element Animation. If you're going to advertise something, advertise the game itself! Though on the subject of toys, if nothing else, you could try plushies. I'd be lying through my teeth if I said I didn't want a Moon Lord, Eye of Cthulhu, or Plantera plush.

The fact taht Terraria's been attacked by pre-pubescent Minecraft fans since it's release doesn't help either....
And rather than marketing items SPECIFICALLY for kids (I still can't get over the black currant night's edge :P), they could make items which aren't SPECIFICALLY toys. For example, they could just make a bunch of notebooks which look similar to the spellbooks in Terraria. No, I'm not talking about the Skeletron set thing with a tiny pixelated piece of plastic. A book with PAGES.

Aki Hauru Ive heard Terraria pronounced as both Ter-rar-ia and Ter-rare-ia. I have personally been asked why the hell I say it "wrong" on multiple occasions because I say it as the latter. I think people tend to prefer what ever they learned the name as when they started. I never heard Terraria spoken for a long time after I started playing and making video, but it is nice to see that "Ter-rare-ia" cant get shit on anymore for being "wrong".
