Live Sonar fishfinders with forward looking capabilities, like the Simrad Active Target have been a polarizing subject in Bass fishing especially. I personally love it for educational purposes, but i find myself only using it in short bursts to understand the fish’s behavior. I do not rely on it to catch every fish i can so you may not see it in most of my videos, However, when we DO use it I LOVE IT!

One of the best use-cases for this tech for us fresh water guys is when we're trying to catch bait. No more guessing or having to watch for flips on the surface - watch your Mega-Live / Active Target and then throw the net onto a school you would have never known was there if you didn't have it. GAME CHANGING.

That live sonar is awesome and I think its a great thing if folks use it responsibly . Poaching a fish off someone else when they are hooked up works on redfish as well, done it many times! Thanks William!! I can honestly say that I have NEVER learned more about Striperfishing in such a short period of time. It’s an excellent way to discover tendencies that you never even imagined. I definitely can’t see myself staring at that screen all day setting the hook only when I see them bite or anything like that, but I see huge value in just using it 30 minutes to start your trip.

Used livescope to catch multiple over 40” this season. Total game changer. Used livescope to target individual fish with live macs in 30’ to 60’ of water. You see the whole interaction between bait and striper.
It’s getting better too. I’m using the first version here, Simrad has a new version out already. 2.0.

What difference is there between your spoon rods & pulling live bait rods. What criteria should I look for. Keep up the great videos. Thanks
They are very different. My jigging rods are like short noodles, but are actually very strong. They have weighted butt systems. Carbon fiber grips. Feel like a feather and you can jig all day. You feel the slightest touch of a striper. The Striper Stealth rods are excellent for live bait, not for jigging a full day. You will get tired fast. I have friends that don’t care and they catch plenty of fish on rods that are all wrong so go with your gut.

Bro! It’s crazy. It show the braid everytime but doesn’t show the 20ft long fluoro leader. You can actually SEE the braid stop at the leader. 😁😁.

That’s correct. The Active Target sonar on the right can do FORWARD-DOWN-and SCOUT views. I just used forward here. If you watch to around the 3/4 point, you’ll see my explanation broken down a bit. Thanks for your support brother!!! 🙏🙏🙏❤️

The downside of live sonar is that it will make you stick around far longer than you should. I can't tell you how many times I have sat there fishing for fish that will never actually eat because I saw them follow or even miss a few times. Don't overcommit. If you're not catching fish it's time to move or change your presentation.

I think it should be banned for tournament fishing. Sure, they are all on the same playing field when all of them use it, but it reduces the need for skill level. Seems like all it takes now to be a professional bass fisherman is whether you can get the sponsors to fund the hobby.
