if the BMF becomes the 145 belt it will never get separated from a championship belt unless someone moves divisions with it w/o becoming a champion or losing

The belt literally has to take place at the bigger man's division. It will never go up if you force the weight class to the smaller man. It would be a very dangerous cut for some lt weights to attempt 145. It's not a divisional belt so it makes perfect sense anyways. It doesn't need the same standard rules as all the other belts. Simple though, 3 division range, lower, same or higher by 1 weight class and it takes place at the bigger man's weight class.
Max can take it to 145 then if he wins he can leverage a 155 title fight and be a triple belt holder. If he loses then it’ll get reset. Dana will probably have the belt be vacated to make a new BMF fight.

Honestly, back to 145 is the least interesting path for Max to me at this point, but anything Max touches next will be gold and I'm a fan of both Max and Ilia so I'll watch their next fights whether they're against each other or not.

The glazing for Topuraia is so annoying and played out. I can't wait for that hype train to derail. I will definitely watch Max v Topuraia but I would much rather see Max stay at 155 and go after that strap. I wish Max knew he was a real Lightweight and not a Featherweight. He runs into the same short stocky problem in the FW division even if he wins the belt.
He doesn't need to go back and I wish he would just look ahead.

Hey Uncle Chael, had a thought about the BMF. Put it on X but I’ll drop it here too.
The BMF finally feels more legitimate having been defended. But it’s stuck at light heavyweight technically. How about 4 BMF belts spanning weight classes. Fly/Feather Feathet/Welter Welter/LHW
Middle/Heavy. Get rid of catch weight arguments and add some credibility to the title of BMF. Belt holder dictates weight class of fight. But if it’s separated by all three weight classes such as a listed flyweight vs a listed featherweight they would have to contest the belt at Bantamweight. I think it would add another level of competition while also eliminating catch weight arguments. Maybe even stop all the champ champ talk from newly minted champions. Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Max has already been a champion at 145 he is the bmf champ he calls the shots make ilia come up to 155 take him out then fight for 155 title after.
Ortega or Volk should get a shot at Topuria by Oct. This fight should be booked by either beginning or mid next year 2025 for the buildup. Max has other fights that probably have opportunities like Porier v Islam, Chandler V Connor , Olivera might wanna run it back. Either way letting this fight build could be a huge headline next year.Max needs prepping as well, Ilia poses a real threat. We see what happens.

Ilia forgets that the only reason he got to the belt is the match makers kept him faaaar away from Max. Max was the ultimate gatekeeper because nobody was getting through him to get to the belt but he couldn’t get another shot at Volk.
