Norbert's story sounds like an anime protagonist one, ngl. Man, its fucking wild. There is something beautiful about it - some random guy through sheer luck gets invited to one of the biggest community tournaments in HOI IV history, playing on someone else's PC, cuz his own ain't good enough to handle the game and makes one of the clutchest plays I had ever seen, deciding the fate of the game. I'm so, so happy for him. Hope his new computer serves him well. His parents must be hella proud of him. At least I would be. On a side note - I have always said that Portugal is probably one of the most underrated countries in the game. Getting a massive amount of manpower (and pretty good industry, for that matter) in monarchist path in addition to the colonies all around the world, makes it probably the most flexible country in the game. You can have comfortable naval and ground invasions virtually anywhere. Besides all of that, they are non-aligned, which means they can join basically anyone, which makes it even more flexible. I don't think it can do all that much on its own, however, but it makes Portugal pretty much the best supporting pick for USA or Japan - majors, who lack ability to get shit done outside of their home region on their own. Team USA as a whole felt the best prepared. Like they planned everything prior to the game and it somehow went perfectly
This was an absolutely wonderful edit that captures the spirit of the game for those who (unfortunately) don't have 9 hours to spare on twitch, great job Markoni!
The highlight of this for me was Budapest holding for so damn long. Thank you to everyone who had a part to play in this big project it might have been a bit scuffed, but it's a great step in the right direction hopefully we are able to get more of these organized and even let tommy have a chance to play. We'd need another channel streaming for commentary though so we'll have to see maybe some knowledgeable players would be willing to commentate. Here's hoping for some more amazing content in 2022!
I've been playing and watching Hoi4 since release in 2016, and can honestly say this was one of if not the most enjoyable, tense and unique game I've seen. Well done to all the players!
I'm actually shocked for the fact that the US-PT-SA team won the tournament. Now, I won't lie: I rooted for them from beginning to end for, well, patriotic reasons, but I didn't genuinely think they'd pull this off without obviously facing very meaningful resistance. The choice of countries made by the group of those three players was in itself a pretty genius idea: If everything was to go according to plan (which most of it did, at least for some time), the US would have to sweep Canada and the UK away in the North and assist Portugal (after taking over Brazil) in the Guineas and the islands in the Caribbean, therefore cleaning up and asserting its dominance in the Americas, making it a safe haven and a nice backyard for the US and Portugal everytime they got pushed back in Iberia and, with Brazil becoming another big core for the latter, the Portuguese Empire would never capitulate, no matter how many times they lost the mainland. Meanwhile, South Africa would help Portugal secure its biggest and most important colonies in Africa, Angola and Mozambique, and both would invade and push everyone else away from the continent back to Europe, and later set a whole new front in Italy, by invading its southern half from the North of Africa (just like real life) and even take over the oil-rich provinces of the Middle East. And last, but certainly not least, Portugal itself would kill off Spain right after it'd be done with its Civil War, making sure it would only have to deal with France and later the UK in the game and always serve as a nice foothold for any invasions further into Europe, which would always be busy fighting itself. Later on, it would use its relatively small, yet extremely significant colonies in Asia, like Goa in India, Macau in China and East Timor right next to the Dutch East Indies, to launch sneaky and game changing naval invasions that would help fight against the Japanese and later Soviet-led teams and grow some nice gains in all of southern Asia. All in all, being in safe corners, fending off the smallest amount of enemies possible and later expand inland and surround them on all sides from all sides of the globe, in all continents. This campaign was super exciting and let me tell you: Tommy had me jumping from my seat throughout the entire video.
Basically once USA unites North America, Portugal will help secure South America by taking Brazil, whereas South Africa securing all the sub Saharan African colonies. When everybody is busy in Europe, controlling 3 continents>controlling just Europe.
@@alexandrearaujo2877 Portugal = Brazil, Brazil = South America. New world secured. There are 6 continents and 7 teams. One team secured two continents. Another (Japan) secured 2 but got gang banged. China really isn’t a good choice, primarily because how easily it is to be invaded and annexed by Japan early game. The other teams were technically quite weak, I could see a Paris - Rome - Istanbul alliance working well via Mediterranean-control
I dont know if its here but one of my favorite parts of the steam was during the big peace deal when Tommy went to the bathroom, then immediately everyone started arguing like monkeys and someone started yelling ORDAH ORDAH just to end up adding even more chaos as everyone was talking over each other
Big respect Tommy, I love how you are reforming the hoi4 and maybe even the whole Paradox community and that you are actually working with the game and bringing it to the next level. Keep going my boy

One of the most interesting videos I’ve seen in years on RUclips, well done Tommy for organizing, and well done Team Nayf for bringing glory to ‘Murica
@@MarkAntony_1 I think getting the US is good enough to never lose, but there was still a chance for someone out of Europe or Asia to get massive enough to "win on points". But their picks were amazing, easily locking 3 continents while being mostly safe from the early game battle royale.
@@JCDSPC Yea I agree. Imagine how different it would have been if they went with Tommy and chat’s initial idea of Canada + Mexico. The Spain war was also massive for the balance of Europe and woulda been much more difficult without Portugal’s help. I wonder what that kind of drafting strat would look like if they didn’t start with USA. The next game will have a much better draft for sure. People will study focuses more so they don’t fall into a trap like China and Hungary. They’ll also be more aware of nonsense like the Portuguese union with brazil. New DLCs will also allow more minor nations to do meme shit like that and evolve into powerhouses.

Absolutely fantastic! Theirs multiple mentions about doing more like this, refining over time. I really hope thats possible. With the players, casters, behind the scenes rule makers and hosters. Of course the game too! I cant wait to see more!

How did the USA go partial mob so early?
thats why i picked portugal xD
Basically once USA unites North America, Portugal will help secure South America by taking Brazil, whereas South Africa securing all the sub Saharan African colonies. When everybody is busy in Europe, controlling 3 continents>controlling just Europe.
@@1mol831 Exactly. That was quite smart on their behalf, don't you agree?
@@alexandrearaujo2877 Portugal = Brazil, Brazil = South America. New world secured. There are 6 continents and 7 teams. One team secured two continents. Another (Japan) secured 2 but got gang banged. China really isn’t a good choice, primarily because how easily it is to be invaded and annexed by Japan early game. The other teams were technically quite weak, I could see a Paris - Rome - Istanbul alliance working well via Mediterranean-control
Norbert has Anime Main Protagonist energy
I dont know if its here but one of my favorite parts of the steam was during the big peace deal when Tommy went to the bathroom, then immediately everyone started arguing like monkeys and someone started yelling ORDAH ORDAH just to end up adding even more chaos as everyone was talking over each other
Markoni you are a legend for your on point editing skills. Tommy and the rest of us who can't spend 9 hours watching the stream are lucky to have you.
THANKS BROTHER
i do feel like kicking team 7D and team Grisha was a bit unfair they could still have made an effect on the game
grisha knows that entertaining is the most important thing. he might be lose but he lose with style.
Big respect Tommy, I love how you are reforming the hoi4 and maybe even the whole Paradox community and that you are actually working with the game and bringing it to the next level. Keep going my boy
LETS DO IT MISAKI!
That was an amazing content. From ban&pick phase to the Game. So much content, So much effort. Thx to everyone who makes this game possible especially Markoni , Tommy and the host.
Next time needs to be observed by the guy who built his career with spectating: Drew Durnill
you can play then at least
Dude I loved this! Your engagement as a commentary is legendary. Please do more of these with pro players and have more minor players. Assign teams as you did but have more people that can choose sides as the game progresses. Also the fact that you're running Two Steps From Hell music, just absolute awesomeness!!
Best video I watched in ages! Unfortunately didn't catch the stream live but will definitely have to watch the whole video on twitch. Looked like such an epic game, great work Tommy for organising it and Markoni for a great video!
dude this is awesome, love the effort y'all put into this and can't wait for this event to grow even further into something bigger
20:48 “Japan instantly justifying on Japan”
"The Seven Nation Army couldnt hold me back"
It was amazing watching this live. I don't know if hoi4 content will ever reach this point again.
believe!
Markonis editing is rly cinematic and gets me more interested in the video. He really does a great job!!!
ty sir
The great game was great it was a bit unstable at the beginning but after the first hour or so i was so hyped
Watching the stream live was actually such an experience (not to sound cringe) but it was
this was far the best stream you have made tommy and i hope you do more in the future like you said on stream
well done
Hey man I made it in the video too a little bit man at 40:54
What a great show this whole escapade was epic!
Norbert's friend is gonna demand money for using his PC during game
New viewer gained - bless the RUclips algorithm. Always been a big fan of grand strategy games haven’t really gotten into HOI4 yet but I sat here enthralled for the entire hour. Looking forward to more content and will be diving into this game. Cheers and thank you!
Norbert from zero to hero. And Tommy has Valhalla behind him? Let Odin guide you Tommy.
This is an amazing concept. I really hope you guys are able to do this biweekly or monthly. So entertaining, competitive, and engaging. Great job organizing this as well
I was rooting for team France just cause I watched BitterSteel from the early days. Man what a promotion he got rn.
Neizmerno mi je drago sto stvarate e-sport od ovako zanimljive , ne tako popularne igrice. Tomija gledam vec duze vreme i vas rast na sceni me stvarno cini srecnim.
France really did given it up tho. They had no intention of defending the French midlands. Didn't even pulled his troops from Italian border letting them get encircled.
France was having a smoke 😂 that's way he was late on reaction hahaha
36:13 Song is Killaheadz - Lettin' Go ( ruclips.net/video/hw5Wq_Udhq8/видео.html )
tommy is turning into a professional drew
31:58 "the indians are coming, what is this facebook??" 🤣
How many hours does it take you to make these amazing videos? Tommy should give you a payrise by atleast 200%
Funny enough, both of my hands hurt from only editing/being at my PC and going to the gym for the last 2 days.
Really wanted to get this one out fast after little New Years break.
I watched the full VOD. This was such a great concept and I can not wait for the next iteration. I think a big dog Axis v Allies game will be an amazing watch with even more interesting plays.
Great job Tommy for creating this, thank you to all the players for duking it out and thank you Markoni for editing it all up into a nice recap while still keeping the essence of the game intact.
Congratulations to the winning team - great job all around!
THANKS FELIX
Spoiler
Soviet really a monster, attacked by three power, lost a member in early game, and still standing
So basically typical Russian? Lol
Still the greatest hoi4 video of all time, good job tommy boy👍
Seeing this made me so happy... Portugal is my favorite nation in SP, especially for a world conquest!
Its nice to core colonies lol.
Incredible vidéo, one of the best ones i ever saw that is for sure. And nice work Markoni, that editing is juicy.
Norbert getting voted as MVP and even being on the winning team was amazing, glad he's getting the money for a new PC. Props to Tommy for organising this and also you Markoni as always for the dedication to edit this video!
13:35 you can feel the passion in tommy's voice and see it in his face i love it
This event was legendary, ENGAGEMENT
Norbert could end the discrimination against non subs he deserves to be MVP
I was expecting the tommykay drew durnil collaboration when this came out would of been a perfect collaboration lol
I see potencial in some players man, Italy did great considering Hungary did not got Austria, Soviet union atacking Germany and holding Japan was a great move, but South Africa, USA and Portugal did really well, they won the strategy and the tatics game, well done.
One of the most interesting videos I’ve seen in years on RUclips, well done Tommy for organizing, and well done Team Nayf for bringing glory to ‘Murica
Team Nayf won it on the Draft. Well played. Great stuff you got going on here jung Tommy.
whoever drew USA already won from day 1
@@MarkAntony_1 I think getting the US is good enough to never lose, but there was still a chance for someone out of Europe or Asia to get massive enough to "win on points".
Please make more. Keep having fun with it Experiment with lower prize games in order to test out rules. You really have something good here, and also the possibility of making it something great. Just found you recently. Love what I've seen brother.
Mom I can’t pause the game I’m winning money
I've been watching Tommy for like 2 years-ish now I think, but I have to say the last couple of months Tommy (and Markoni through the YT edits too) has really felt "on the cusp" of really blowing up. Maybe I'm totally off, but 2022 feels like it could be a huge year for the Tommy and his community (and by extension potentially the Paradox gaming community as a whole), excited to see how this year shapes up
If USSR had reached india before Portugal then USA wouldnt have had a chance. Portugals invasion was the most important move of the game
Why is that? USSR couldn’t really deal with USA alone, it will take Japan, UK and USSR together to perform a successful invasion on USA
Absolutely fantastic! Theirs multiple mentions about doing more like this, refining over time. I really hope thats possible. With the players, casters, behind the scenes rule makers and hosters. Of course the game too! I cant wait to see more!
yessir
I feel like Norbert deserve a year long sub from Tommy. Just saying
Goosebumps at the end Tommy!!!!! The take over is happening. Great job organizing and great editing Markoni!
Bro I can’t watch any other hoi4 content cause nothing can match up with this
Outstanding video Tommy and Markoni, please do more of this stuff! This is amazing!
I will say, Millennium Dawn would be epic to see with this kinda concept.
Props to the editor this was actually really fun to watch :)
Fun fact, i was the only player to fight on all 7 continents :) gg much fun
I dont have the time anymore to watch streams, but I have been following Tommy since the pandemic.
The endless content from Bannerlord, CK2, HOI4, the Tournament and now this, fantastic job!
Thanks for providing this amazing stuff Tommy and Markoni.
Also, thanks for introducing me to Danheim, what masterpiece Ivar's Revenge is and how well it fits the content! As if it was written for TommyKay
This was amazing! I wish you would’ve gone is to what the players plans were and what they were thinking. Maybe some after action interviews or something. maybe next time!
Tommy is single handedly bringing the multiplayer community back and taking it to the next level. He did it with RP and now he’s doing it with tournaments.
YES HE IS!
