We have a similar problem with Yellow Jackets here in western canada. Hundreds of thousands show up at the end of the season. I lost 20 hives this year.

Hi Richard, can I join theBemusedOne in hoping that you do a Video of the complete trap and release method. it will help us to deal more efficiently with the Asian Hornets when they arrive in mass here in the south of the UK. Love your videos.

I agree, just manage them. Tbh, they have as much right to life as any other thing.

    Hi Richard,
Very interested in all your videos, nice one mate!
Looking forward to a video on the 'Trap and Release' method for dealing with the Asian Hornet.
Have you been able to see the result of this method once the hornet returns to the nest?

i love your point of view! great video. could you share the recipe? just a normal rats poison mixed with some yolk or cooked meat, could also work? you leave the bait close to the hives? thank you

Fipronil, front line, spray for dogs. tiny amount needed.

Hi Richard great video are you saying our “Front line” of defence is mixing the liquid with a boiled egg yolk and painting on the thorax of the hornets, if so how many hornets will you treat for it to destroy a nest. Many Thanks.

I understand between 5 and 10 dosed hornets returning to one nest will kill it. I'm hoping that during this phoney war period that there's a scientist working for the NBU who's finding a less persistent pesticide than Fipronil (Frontline) for use with trap and release. It's best not to ask about the legality of trap and release in the UK.

Richard, do you have any problems with the tires that you use for your stands, like mice, snakes , hornets and wasps nests, mosquitoes breeding in accumulated water.......?? I'm lucky , no problems with hornets here in Connecticut US, Thanks!!!

They are in the State of Washington, not much hope that they won't be spreading across the country. Might take a few years, but you should be prepared to deal with them eventually.

Is it proven that painting the hornet with poison kills the whole nest? I’ve never heard of this before.

You don't mention the loss of native bees and pollenators who have no one protecting them!

i didnt treat these, a specialist pest controller treated them with i think a Permethrin based insecticide. very quick to break down!

Can you name the chemical you use, here in northern spain we are inundated with them, we use bottle traps and electrified harp like frames to electricute them, its just a glorified electric fly swatters on a 1meter by 1meter frame. Arround out small town we have registered over 2000 nests exterminated and thats only whats been done by the counsel. I'm in NW Spain maybe you could drop me a mail if you cannot publish here incubate.it at gmail.com. thanks BTW i like your base and green entrances.
