I think a really cool way to revamp this challenge would be to start with a handful of players, all bronze. Then with each win, you flip a coin and either add one more player, or increase the rank of one of the players. So you might start with 6 Bronze, then the next game could be 7 bronze or 5 bronze and 1 silver, and so on.

Reminds me of an SC1 game I played a million years ago. I was walking my ghost somewhere when it was fired upon in a random spot, and I saw that the enemy stashed a huge flock of wraiths there, so I used said ghost to nuke them all
I think the main reason it's so much more difficult than the insane AI is that they don't always attack from the same side. Against the AI you can just put all of your defenses in one place and mega turtle against them, but against bronze players you need to defend everywhere all the time, which makes the turtling strategy not that viable anymore. I also think they're much more willing to just mass air units, which tend to be more difficult to kill efficiently (efficiently in the context of a 10v1 challenge anyway where even a 2:1 trade is awful) than ground units (and especially when they don't all attack from the same angle).
Yeah @kingpet, I agree. It's because of the weird AI quirks that causes it to half-ass engagements over and over. 1500 supply of good units only needs a single, coordinated A-move to win
@@kugeltmg that, and all ai armies act like they are the only ones there, meaning; they will create a complete army for themselves, where as the bronze players create a complete army together.

If they go for a combined death ball attack, thats when the nukes have to come in and do their thing. I feel if you saw their combined attacks coming a tad earlier, half of that shit could have been vaped with nukes. And in both cases they kinda gave it away by the flying units coming in early. If you just trusted your turret forest to handle the air and gone strait to nuking all the ramps, this might have gone a fair bit different.
Some ideas: mass turrets + planetaries is clearly a huge boon, since they don't cost supply. I'd say you might be better off trying protoss. Mass cannons to surround the edges of your base, then a core army of blink stalkers, tempests, and colossi to handle whatever gets through the cannons. Your main challenge is going to be running out of minerals in the long run, so you need to take at least 6 bases total to make it work. The 5 bases in your spawn are good, but I think using a prism to bring a probe to the rightward base hg to expand there would really help, since it's walled off with rocks and protects you from siege tank/lurker cheese into your second main. The other big benefit of protoss is that you can send out an army to try to eliminate players one by one, while still having the ability to recall back to protect the main. It also allows warping in chargelots to eviscerate their mineral lines on the other side of the map, which they likely will have a hard time defending against if they're trying to mass at your doorstep.
I was gonna say, those dudes last time were absolutely not bronze. Bronze is going to be really really hard to find in general, you'd need to take like discord members and ask them to get their friends to play who have never played lol. Anything below gold is gonna be really really hard to find
Average resources data is a clear indication of your league in lower leagues. He can check his opponents' history for a 10-minute game before the game.
You know another way you could do this--try 1v10 bronze, and every time you lose, drop one adversary (so second game is 1v9, then 1v8, etc) until you win. See how many bronze players you can take concurrently.
Marc, I have been told by Harstem and Hamster that Bronze league didn't actually exist. They were pretty adamant about it in a recent (not the most recent) Rank Roulette video. As someone who would be bronze level but doesn't even own the game (played a ton of Brood War, but just love watching SC2), I need to know the truth!
If you sneak an scv to the empty base on the other side of the map with the first medivac I feel you have a good chance of it going unscouted for a long time. Be a great place to drop mules, maybe even hide production for proxy BCS - fly the neighbour, burn the base, teleport to your neighbour at home, burn the base, retreat to main.
I really would like to see 2 pros against 10 bronze players. And you may or may not turn off all the limitations. Like, this base set up just looks like it is made for 2x10
Great games! Although you are the pro player way above me in skill, I'd like to advice you - in this scenarios I think the Thor AOE cannon is more advantous then powerful single target. All Air units where clumbed up like hell. 5 Thor shooting AOE constantly would have been a nukelike wet dream.

37:55 I physically felt that 🤣🤣 Really fun challenge to watch. I can imagine the excitement of the opponents coordinating over chat and pooling up their armies. I'd love to see their POV. What if you tried this with zerg? You could hunt armies by using splash abilities (banelings, fungal, parabomb) which require difficult micro to respond, and the creep spread would be a more significant distraction to bronze players. Maybe need to modify the map to give you better eco though.
"Fighting one more bronze player every match until I can't win anymore" Would be a cool vid. Start with a 1v1, then a 1v2, then see how far you can push it.
Maybe it's a bronze thing but I'd think the only strategy to go for in 10v1 even as bronze would be to just build units and at 5 minutes just A move everyone including SCVs/Probes/Drones into enemy base. even if each person produced only 2-3 marines in 5 minutes (which is quite impossible to make such a small army), that would be 20-30 marines and 200 probes/drones/scvs... good luck stopping that xD
@@ElysaraCh i assumed no worker rush would be just start off and send workers, since he said no attacks until 5 minutes i assumed this wont count for worker rush... Well, even without the workers I feel like in 5 minutes if they all just focused on making units and sent them in together it would be impossible to deal with
@@Mijiraa oh 100% lol I'm just saying that this challenge doesn't make sense unless there are extreme restrictions on the 10 bronzies, and i dont think 5min non aggression is enough
Nukes are incredible because they are they tax the apm of every opponent. So each nuke is doing 10x more "apm damage" than it would in a 1v1. Very cool
I really think this challenge is possible since bronze players usually focus on EITHER their macro OR army, never both - that means that nuking their army is entirely within reason, even defensively. I think a good defense would include pereptually nuking your entrance every 10 seconds or so while also having massive air AoE (either with liberators or AoE mode thors)
I'd like to see this reattempted with some added perks. Like starting with rich minerals on main and expansions for your side or things like that, to give you an eco boost in the early game. Or maybe starting with 1/1 upgrades. It's fun watching this content though!
I was there in the waiting room, but I wasn't selected for the challenge. I'm still unranked (2 placement matches lost to cannon rushers) and only played 3v3 AI, so I was kind of sad and flattered at the same time as I think they evaluate me higher than bronze. That's why I put aside my ladder anxiety and queue up again. To my surprise I won my first ladder game against a gold league terran in a macro game
I think the next step in this challenge is for you to go 2v10 with someone at your level, harstem or any other pro who might be willing to give it a try Terran and Protoss could be a strong combo. If that still is impossible then go 3v10 and have 1 of each race against the 10 bronze and see how that goes. I think that would be SUPER fun to watch.
I hope you do another 1v10 bronze video, because I still think you can do it! And regardless of whether you eventually win, it’s so fun to watch the difference between one really skilled player and a horde of bronze-skill players. Please play this again!
Did you even notice the bane mines?! Also that last battle was causing me serious lag because i have potato pc and yeah that protoss couldn’t build very much near me so they needed to expand i had two non natural bases and yeah would love to do something like that again
These were so fun. I’m not sure if I’m missing out on a meme, but could you reduce the number of players and find your win point? 1 v 8 // 1 v 6 etc? Maybe you’ve done that before. Anyway these games are hilarious and much more interesting than against AIs. Well done.
Just disallow resource sharing! Your heart feels bad for players who would get eliminated early on, but because you allowed the resource sharing, no one was ever dead.
I don't think it would come close to mattering. He didn't want the unlucky person who spawned next to him to not get to play. Bronze players probably don't make many workers so you end up facing 1500 supply of good units. Without weird AI mechanics to abuse, it's hopeless (even if only 8 were alive, a 1200 supply army of banshee/muta/ghost/lurker/archon/etc always wins).
I think the only strategy you should have going in is Completely wipe out a player, one at a time. Or make a rule for no resource sharing to bring "dead" players back into the game. Or a custom map where you have unlimited resources at hand so you don't have to keep expanding. Or you have a partner who is afk and allows you to use their base and supply count. Otherwise, you'll always get overrun. x_x
Marc, I haven't played SC2 since Wings of Liberty came out, but I am really enjoying this series. If you gotta work up to it, please play against less bronze players until you can win and really work on the theory craft.
Maybe play with a mod like "moar upgrades" with extra supply. Marc would benefit a lot as he can really make use of the extra supply won by killing enemy units.
He also does the no attacking for 5min thing. which means they are keeping their units at their base making his harass less effective. Allows resource sharing because he doesn't want the unlucky guy who spawns next to him to be removed early, but that pretty much makes it so he can never take them out without taking out all 10 at once. the ones who aren't harassed can feed those who were to get them back in the game.
would be fun to see 2 vs several metal leagues too. Or marc vs an overpowered race played by a bronze. Or marc vs a player that starts with every upgrades.
This challenge might be doable if you are in archon mode. They are scared to attack you, so you must be 100% in offensive. Reapers in to drop In to banshee in to bc. Extreme AI attack you all time, bronze players attack only if max. So having extra player or two for extra apm so you get maximum value from each unit. I.e first reapers must kill two players. And then ensure that they cannot recover. Another set off units must kill next two- three players. And so on....
Never been rooting against uthermal more than any of these videos. I feel a deep connection with team bronze and hope they keep putting the former pro in his place. Good work, yall!
the final battle is your ~200 supply against well over 1000 supply. Because even as bronze they're smart enough to attack all at once. And such a huge supply advantage cannot be overcome by micro alone - How about this: retry with 1 new rule, they each have to do their attack as singular. After you repel it, the 2nd player can immediately start their attack. and after that, the 3rd player, etc. Still very hard, but at least this way it's not just a ridiculous case of the 1000 supply army and no chance whatsoever.
I think you should make a rule against resource sharing. I would guess that if you knock out a player early but don't kill their command center then once you leave and move on other players donate enough minerals for them to rebuild. I would think this challenge would be doable if you could actually eliminate one or two players with early harass, but killing their buildings with reapers is gonna be impractical.
I think air units are whats making it this challenge more difficult than the 1v10 insane ai. the air units just open multiple paths of attack spreading your forces too thin. while insane ai despite making air units they escort the main ground force thus there is only 1 main path to attack if your holding them up against the main ramp and thus not needing to spread out your defences too thin. I think if this was 1v10 ground units only for your opponents you would easily win this. hope you make a 3rd and final rematch with this added rule cause this will definetly give you a better fighting chance.
I think you should try again and go more reapers into bio drops because your biggest advantage over bronze players is your micro+macro. Get enough reapers to take out a couple players then mass medivac bio and abuse their mineral lines, keep building a bio ball and take out their armies individually before they mobilize into a death ball
Absolutely incredible games, I don't think I've seen so many units barrel down on you before! This'll probably get lost in the comments but I was wondering if in the case of mass banshees if the thors would be better off in the bad mode or if there was just so many it wouldn't matter?
10 insane AIs are as clever as 1, but 10 bronze players, make probably much better decisions than 1 (at the very least a lot of holes would be fixed by each others). If you survive that or even beat it you are a legend. Well you are regardless :)
The solution here might be mass BC since they cannot make capital ships and you can. Harassing their economy with ghosts is fun but a bit useless since all they need is to max once and all in with 500+ pop vs your 200 to win (and with 10 players they always will have the money to do so) With BC you could take free kills with yamato, and once a decent amount of them you could start destroying their bases, when they come to defend, you tp out and destroy another base on the other side of the map I think you have to be the one attacking them, it's way harder for them to be coordinated on defending differents bases rather than attacking all at once your static defenses. Also, if you struggle with the challenge, maybe you could invite someone for a 2v10 instead
Nah it’s impossible to win this, there’s so many armies, they just have to press all A in your base and you are just doomed if they go all in with full supply, the only possibility is you are lucky enough to go full thors or tanks and they go full ground or air at the same time, and play defensive and attack with some ghosts, and even then, in the best possible scenario, it’s still very hard, and still, you managed to do this amazing job, congrats.
After watch that first game, I think nuking the armies is the trick. Bronze macro and multitasking will be the weak point for the player, so resetting their army to 0 seems like a strong option. I guess I will find out if that's what game 2 has in store.
I wonder if there's a way for uThermal to start with 3 bases and unlimited supply, and all the other 10 players start normally Just an epic horde mode, I think it would be cool to watch
Great and fun Challange ty :D. But one observation, i think you are lacking splash damage big BIG time. Bronze Players cant really deal with Widowmines for example, so all those big clumps of air untis would be in severe danger. Also, Thors in high impact mode are good for standard games, but the dps through splash would be much higher. Same goes for unsieged liberators, 5-6 of them and you got a great mobile anti Muta/Banshee/Oracle... solution. You could try Protoss with high templars and disruptors :D
I haven't finished watching but if I was Marc,I would go straight to factory units and defend with most units but send one battalion to start killing bases one at a time. Or 2 at a time
I'm glad he stopped adding rules, after a couple changes, it's just more of a game of "what do i have to ban in order to win" instead of just banning the cheesiest and a-move-iest things.
In 1vs10 the horror of "nuclear launch detected" is multiplied by 10. Blatant math that is. Wait, all allies hear this note or not, when one ally is nukelighted?
21:40 as someone who has only played the campaigns I can say that I couldn't win against anyone using Ghosts. Having watched your matches you win using Ghosts outplaying bigger armies by taking defensive advantages. While slowly whitering away at enemies. I don't think Bronze players would be able to defend against an A moving bigger army.
Would the missile thors be better in this situation than the cannon thors? The missile Thors get splash which makes them better against huge swarms of air units.
Love this! A possible fun variation is to have all the bronze players be zerg. It'd make for some insane cinematic moments with zerg units coming in overwhelming force from all sides.

I love that idea, and it means some players would not be on their main race making the challenge beatable. Then rotate races

Well, even without the workers I feel like in 5 minutes if they all just focused on making units and sent them in together it would be impossible to deal with
That would be boring tho :(
@@Mijiraa oh 100% lol I'm just saying that this challenge doesn't make sense unless there are extreme restrictions on the 10 bronzies, and i dont think 5min non aggression is enough
since they are so many they pretty much have map vision. Here is a rule you get to have map vision, could work nice and it would be balanced.
Map vision or added resources might be a good equalizer.
It's fun watching this content though!
you could add a rule or change the map to limit supply, something like a 300 cap for you and only 150 for the others.
With the new patch ‘yolo’ got removed but ‘pop off’ got a serious buff.
Man I was hoping for an epic multinuke on that combined army at the end of game 1
Yeah. That makes sense that a lot of people might be bronze but like me have played a lot of coop so have good mechanics .
One of the previous "bronze" players might have been named Clem, which was awfully suspicious.
Winning against a gold clearly tells you you're above the bronze league. Good job!
Congratulations on the win! 🎇
The "no two players can attack at the same time in the fiest 15 minutes" rule was a good choice!
Would it be better to leave your thors in splash damage mode? Especially since you outlawed capital ship?
These were so fun. I’m not sure if I’m missing out on a meme, but could you reduce the number of players and find your win point? 1 v 8 // 1 v 6 etc? Maybe you’ve done that before. Anyway these games are hilarious and much more interesting than against AIs. Well done.
game was going chill till 1000 supply just walks in
Marc needs to remember that while he can max out his units, he can't max out his stat D, so build turrents, build PFs. That's the only way to win.
Otherwise, you'll always get overrun. x_x
Please do this challenge more, really fun to watch. Maybe a custom map that gives you some advantage like 8 gold bases or something lol
1. Build workers. 2. ??? 3. Profit! 🤣 Love it.
to the mad marc community: sometimes marc's voice sounds like howard stern.
Marc, I haven't played SC2 since Wings of Liberty came out, but I am really enjoying this series. If you gotta work up to it, please play against less bronze players until you can win and really work on the theory craft.
You should have unlimited supply, though. It's a bit unfair that you're capped to 200 against 1200.
200 against 2000*

43:12 sounds like you need to stand in the snow for a while hoping nobody sees you until you get 200 back. 😆
i knew they were actually bronze this time when they typed their plan into all chat
would be fun to see 2 vs several metal leagues too. Or marc vs an overpowered race played by a bronze. Or marc vs a player that starts with every upgrades.
That first nuke in the second game was so tasty.
This was so fun to watch. Don’t end the challenge please, just reduce the number of opponents. Maybe 1v8 or 1v6?
GG bro, you still lasted infinitely longer than I would have!!
Dude holy shit those last few games looked like a player vs Amons forces at the end of the game levels but Amon snorted crack beforehand
Even the kid last time who's dad was (probably) helping would be harder than a real bronze.
10 insane AIs are as clever as 1, but 10 bronze players, make probably much better decisions than 1 (at the very least a lot of holes would be fixed by each others). If you survive that or even beat it you are a legend. Well you are regardless :)

THIS South Park Underpants Gnomes reference is AMAZING!
Thanks Allistanzyl lol!
God Bless you ALL!
The solution here might be mass BC since they cannot make capital ships and you can. Harassing their economy with ghosts is fun but a bit useless since all they need is to max once and all in with 500+ pop vs your 200 to win (and with 10 players they always will have the money to do so)
With BC you could take free kills with yamato, and once a decent amount of them you could start destroying their bases, when they come to defend, you tp out and destroy another base on the other side of the map
I think you have to be the one attacking them, it's way harder for them to be coordinated on defending differents bases rather than attacking all at once your static defenses.

You should do the challenge but with full vision (like maphack)
After watch that first game, I think nuking the armies is the trick. Bronze macro and multitasking will be the weak point for the player, so resetting their army to 0 seems like a strong option. I guess I will find out if that's what game 2 has in store.
I wonder if there's a way for uThermal to start with 3 bases and unlimited supply, and all the other 10 players start normally
Just an epic horde mode, I think it would be cool to watch
I love the 1v10 with all opponents playing as Z, but you should hire Harstem or another pro as your teammate vs the 10 bronzies
Great and fun Challange ty :D. But one observation, i think you are lacking splash damage big BIG time.
Bronze Players cant really deal with Widowmines for example,
so all those big clumps of air untis would be in severe danger.
LITERALLY the definition of TEAMWORK!!! Great job Thermy!!!! XOXOXOXO
Would love to see mark self nuke his base in defence move.. 😂
another great rule to add is all players have -50% hp or the in game handicapp
21:40 as someone who has only played the campaigns I can say that I couldn't win against anyone using Ghosts. Having watched your matches you win using Ghosts outplaying bigger armies by taking defensive advantages. While slowly whitering away at enemies. I don't think Bronze players would be able to defend against an A moving bigger army.
Would the missile thors be better in this situation than the cannon thors? The missile Thors get splash which makes them better against huge swarms of air units.
Both of these videos were amazing to watch.
May the rematch be glorious !
I'm curious if the splash mode on thors is better if they always clump all their units like they did in the end fight of the first game
Maybe You're missing on widow mines ? I'm sure those banshees would have been crushed by some good placed mines.
I absolutely love these match-ups! So entertaining!
