To me, RPG is the best genre for games like Dragonball and shonen manga games in general. The typical progression and growth of the shonen can be perfectly translated into RPGs or Action RPGs
seanmyster6 That's why probably Action RPGs and games like Dragonball Xenoverse are the best formula for shonen manga games. With a better fighting system and a few improvements here and there Dragonball Xenoverse could have been the best Dragonball game ever made, though it's the perfect base for a Xenoverse 2 with all the necessary improvements.
Zayaan Nashrid Of all the games I know of I'd have to agree with you, Xenoverse is as close as I've found...but it's still not even remotely similar to what I'm talking about. If there's no fan made projects of the like I really hope some company out there picks up a project like this, I'd LOVE to play it.
R.I.P Toriyama. Out of all the gba games, the Legacy of Goku 2 was one of my favorite games as a kid. I would play it and replay it over and over again.
It's truly perplexing to see how far we've come. Who could have imagined back then, that we'd get games like Kakarot, Xenoverse and FighterZ one day...
Dbz legacy of goku 1 is unbelievable in how weak Goku is. Not only did they make him weak, they made him even WEAKER than he was at the beginning of Dragon Ball! Here Goku would get killed by wolves, when Kid Goku would win and literally eat them for dinner.
part I hated them most about LoG1 was the strange hit detection, if you spam attacks, it takes forever to kill anything, but if you time your swings, it takes 2 or 3 hits to kill things, almost like it has an invisible strength bar similar to secret of mana
You know having Dragonball and DBZ RPGs actually kinda makes a lot of sense, because aside from the fights, the themes of the show revolve around training to get stronger and stronger.
ikr I think I played it like 5 different times trying to change how I went about it. same for Buu's fury. I still have both games but my game boy is busted :P
I really wish they would remake the legacy of goku series (buus fury as well) and put it all on one 3ds game. That would be sweet, I played the shit out of those games.
I'll always regret choosing to get Legacy of Goku over Legendary Super Warriors back in the day. That was when I learned that just because a game was on a new system doesn't mean its not going to suck horribly.
Mimn Sho yeah, but that’s the USA version of a game being ported to japan, this is like if they created an entirely new Mario game, kept it to Japan, and called it Mario USA
I always felt DBZ was better for RPGs than fighting games. Think about it, the show is about the characters training to take on the grand threat. With a little creativity that training period could be the level building levels before facing against the end boss.
Sean Black I know I thought so too, the RPG for the SNES was by far my favorite. Though the card battles are a bit weird, the fact that you didnt gain experience but your BP or Power level went up after every fight as a way to strengthen your character. I loved that there was a secret ending too, if you kept Vegeta alive all through the game and survived the Frieza fight with him still breathing in your party he actually goes Super Saiyan and you fight him as an extra special boss battle.
Legacy of goku 2 was one of my favourite games as a kid. I distinctly remember picking it up and not playing anything else until well after I finished it.
You should make more of these, but for shorter series like animal crossing or metroid or maybe the legend of Zelda. Something small. I really enjoyed it.
DBZ Legendary Super Warriors was my SHIT. It was amazing. And I played it so much my dad hid the game to get me to stop.. years later after I forgot about it, I got it again. and I was addicted.. again lol
A while back I found Attack of the Saiyans at my local Gamestop. I was shocked beyond belief that I found it. I often looked, but never thought it would be there and pretty much settled that I was going to have to get it from Amazon. But I never would have even known to look for it without this video. So, thanks, Jared. It really is a great game and I owe you for making me aware of it.
A proper action RPG would be great I think. Imagine a Dragon Ball Z story mode using a similar engine to Kingdom Hearts or something? That would be cool.
This video OOZES with nostalgia. I've played most of the games here when I was little, courtesy from a friend who gave me a CD containing ROMs of Dragon Ball games. Back then I didn't know they were emulated games.
Ya know, I recently discovered this guy, and I gotta say, I really appreciate how he just gets to the point of the video and stays on topic the entire time, unlike so many other internet reviewers who feel they should shoehorn in some awful contrived "comedy" skits and/or one liners and cut away from the actual content constantly. I hope it stays like that.
Didgeridoo Player well if they straight up said " we will make Legacy of Goku 4" and need crowd funding, i'd definitely be there to help :) the games were just simply fun =^-^= (need to be a little harder than Buu's fury tho) the leveling system meant people could power fist the entire game) x.x
stephaniepretty The best thing about crowd funding is the need for a developer to listen to fan feedback, so I am confident they're going to innovate game mechanics to make an improvement over the other games. It might not be able to compete with the type of RPGs coming around, but as a successor to their LoG series it will surely be great! Personally, I can't wait to see how they'd do Legacy of Goku 1 again, or Dragon Ball Super, starting with Battle of Gods and Resurrection F. The possibilities are there for the taking! Now, they have been out of touch for several years now, and all they do is pretty much subpar mobile games, but something tells me Webfoot can't wait to make a beautiful pixel-art RPG 12 years after the last one.
I usually complain about things in my reccomended tab. I saw this was DBZ related though and decided to take a look. Now, I got someone else in my subscriber box. Well done :) Keep up the good work.
Hi there ProJared, I am also a massive fan of Dragonball z, I have the games, the manga etc I really enjoyed your game retrospective. I would be interested to know what you think of Battle of Z
I have never been a fan of anything Dragonball related, so I didn't realize it had such a rich history. These videos have been very fun and informative to watch!
A few titles Ive never heard of are now going to be added to my collection. How much praise you gave attack of the saiyans makes me want to seek it out so much. I disagree about a few titles, but that was probably dew to my age playing them, cant wait until you do your Sagas video.
A lot of the grind and frustrating parts you mention are the normal jrpg elements that are enjoyable imo. It never gets old seeing Goku power up... never! Good review,
Kilun Gaming Why not? It's not like Nintendo ever shied away from licences games, look at the Hamtaro games for the GBA (Heck, they even mentioned them in the Nintendo chronological map in Super Smash Bros. 4), and Namco Bandai seems to be in a pretty O.K relationship with Nintendo right now.
Black INK.I.M I do not see why Nintendo would bother with it, as DBZ is a slowly dying community, with the games getting even more terrible with the exception of a few gems here and there. I would extremely like to see a sequel to Attack Of The Saiyans, but I just don't see it happening. The best we can hope for is for an Indie developer to pick up the task of making a Spiritual Successor.
This miniseries is one of my favorite things from the ProJared. Even though I've only seen Dragon Ball, learning about the history of these games is awesome!
I know people say the 3DS is terrible for fighting games, but it's the only current console I have, so I'm excited about this. A DBZ fighting game was recently announced for 3DS called Dragon Ball Z Extreme Butoden! Yay!
I loved your retrospective series of videos for DBZ. They're well written, entertaining and incredibility informative. Please continue to make of this series!
Xenoverse? It's got it's flaws, but I'm loving playing as a Namekian of my own creation. Not to mention the replay value. When I finish this play through, I'm probably gonna replay as a Frieza race. It's flawed, but a damn good experience for DBZ fans
The gameplay is a 3d arena style fighter, but a lot of it is RPG like. Level up system, MMO style hub with other players, and a shit ton of RPG aspects. It's the kind of DBZ game I've wanted for a while. Even with it's flaws. Oh and the story is good for a DBZ game. Finally we dont have a half ass rehash of the anime.
Have you heard of Dragon Ball Heroes. There are a couple of them for 3DS and they are card game style RPG's but Japan only. We need to yell at Bandai Namco to make an American release.
I hate the fact that legend of the super saiyan was so popular or was even released in the first place. Devs just mindlessly cluttered around it thinking the card system=automatic cash and sales. And not only that, it took them 10+ years to actually realize that was wrong and try something new. Think of what other kinds of rpgs they couldve done if they werent so obsessed with the card system. We couldve actually gotten an attack of the saiyans SERIES.
+NeutralGuyDoubleZero Nothing in your post makes any sense. How does Legend of the Super Saiyan stop us from getting more Attack of the Saiyans games? And why was the card system bad? It wasn't, that's why. Who says we would have gotten any other RPGs regardless?
Rai Verwyn It stopped us from getting more rpgs because devs were so obsessed with the card system. If they weren't then devs might've taken an interest in an Attack of the saiyans-esque game earlier when devs still had an interest in rpg's.
I really like you DMjared, your not like other people who create this nutty character who have silly voices. No instead you provide me with interesting information that is in depth but not boring or dragging along slowly... I really like your 1 minute review and please do more of those :D
Yep. See, the game is programmed to subtract 1 Senzu Bean from your inventory. However, you have NO Beans. Since the game tracks items as 8-bit integers, 0 - 1 is treated as 255.
I mean, to be honest, there's a lot of things you can do to screw with the game. The Senzu Bean glitch is, as far as I'm aware, the most well known of those, and the only beneficial one. I believe you can force the game to let you fly around as a Super Saiyan at one point or another, too, and the game throws a few glitched graphics your way for it. I think the same happens with the Great Saiyaman transformation at certain times if you're a Super Saiyan, but I can't guarantee that one.
Coulda sworn Vegeta had all the sprites available, actually. As for the rest of the characters, they have only forward and back flying sprites, so I'm sure it's just because the rest of your playable characters fly in when you reach a cutscene and you may have them in Super Saiyan form. That's generally when the sprites are used, after all, and if it was planned, it seems slightly more reasonable for Goku to have all of his Super Saiyan flying sprites from Legacy of Goku II as placeholders, at least. That being said, it's certainly still possible they intended to allow you to fly around as a Super Saiyan since they still need time and/or a budget to do it, mainly due all the additional sprites that have to be made.
Pretty weird symbolism in that case, since it causes the bar to overlap and you can't easily tell how much energy you have left anymore. Also, that bug happens in a few other scenarios. Basically, any time you're forced out of a transformation without actually showing the reverting action, the yellow bar (or red bar for Super Saiyan 3) stays. It's fixed by simply transforming again, but since Gohan can't transform anymore at that point, it's more noticable then.
Legendary super warriors will always have a special place in my heart. Finding out how to unlock characters in new game+ together with friends is a core memory. (Don't forget to lose against Majin Vegeta during your first playthrough!)
Vessel I dont care if its a girl or a boy im just ask if they're going to get dragon ball fusions for the 3ds also are you going to get it or are you one of those people who are like "xenoverse is better..no Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is" or you just dont care for the 3ds
Leit Sabbath damn I guess I'm getting old cause I didn't know talking about getting Dragon Ball Fusion meant getting a bj so what is this the new Netflix and chill. =.=
Here to confirm that Fusions is indeed better. The sheer depth of the game is insane,1200 playable characters! Just, wow. It''s shorter, but WAY better.
It's a toss up. Fusions has a more tactical battle system, a unique mechanic with how it handles fusion and a unique (if rather shallow) story. Attack of the Saiyans is more mechanically robust, looks better and has the familiar story of the saiyan saga, with some added stuff. They're both quality games.
I just recently started playing one of these. Thank you for explanations. I love the combat flow. If Final Fantasy was amazing for having a sprite [move up, swing weapon , move back] then DBZRPGs are like Akira by comparison. It's like a little vhs in your vcr on the screen in your hands.
Legacy of Goku sucks ass. Why is Goku, the man who defeated Piccolo, in danger of getting killed by wolves and snakes? Legacy of Goku 2 and Buu's Fury were awesome though. By the way, yes, we do need a sequel to Attack of the Saiyans. That game is awesome and we deserve to have a sequel taking place on Namek.
Legacy of Goku II and Buu's Fury were hands down my favorite GB Advance games as a kid. Oh man, SO many school nights spent playing those games under my covers pretending to be sleep. XD
THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A DBZ GAME, I'LL BREAK IT DOWN SO THEY UNDERSTAND STEP 1: GET DBZ TENKAICHI 3 STEP 2: IMPROVE THE GRAPHICS, NEW CHARTER MODELS, NEW VISUALS, NEW STAGES STEP 3: ADD MULTIPLAYER CONGRATULATION, YOU'VE NOW MADE A DBZ GAME WORTH BUYING.
TerrmediaReturns hey you're a bigger douche he uses caps to make words that are important more seeable also it might just be his style if typing like me
Dragon Ball z Legendary Super Warriors was my shit! My friends and I played this game for years. When that music started the memories just came flooding in. Thank You!
Justin Lafser Too bad there hasn't been a character like trunks with "two" swords huh? im sure that would make you very happy #LOLimtoofunnyAndICantStopUsingHashtagsOnRUclipsNowHelpMePlease
akihiro kina yea i remember it had me sold on the multiple characters, i never saw the lack of stats in the first game as a horrible thing just something happily added in the second
Another great video Jared, thanks for covering attack of the saiyans. I've been on the fence about whether or not I should purchase it but I'm def picking it up now
While watching all these videos.. I realized something. the DBZ series always seems to have amazing animation. By amazing I mean painstakingly well done, and a huge variety of animation
11:55 The most convoluted yet funniest thing about how the hit detection in Legacy of Goku 1 works is the fact that there is no hit stun but rather INVINCIBILITY after a character gets hit. The game tricks you just fine into thinking there would be something like combo attacks while Goku strikes alternating with his two fists... xD Watch the TAS of mugg1991. The combat in this game is one big hit & run strategy.
I remember playing the DBZ legend of the super saiyan for the Famicon.. As you said in the video, I also found it through emulation and even though the whole game was in japanese I managed to get through it! It was pretty challenging and fun! As a side note, if you beat the game you get a special battle after Frieza with a Super saiyan vegeta! Never thought I'd see gameplay for it again! Awesome videos, Jared. =D
I had DBZ buus fury and I never was able to finish it because of my GBA unable to save after a specific point. I enjoyed it a lot, but cause of this I was never able to finish it.
To me, RPG is the best genre for games like Dragonball and shonen manga games in general. The typical progression and growth of the shonen can be perfectly translated into RPGs or Action RPGs
***** Agreed, though I like me some fighting games as well.
seanmyster6 That's why probably Action RPGs and games like Dragonball Xenoverse are the best formula for shonen manga games. With a better fighting system and a few improvements here and there Dragonball Xenoverse could have been the best Dragonball game ever made, though it's the perfect base for a Xenoverse 2 with all the necessary improvements.
+AlexTenThousand Are there an open world, 3D, action combat RPG's for Dragon ball/Z?
7dayspking Xenoverse is as close as you get.
Although DragonBall online was pretty close, but it got shut down
Zayaan Nashrid Of all the games I know of I'd have to agree with you, Xenoverse is as close as I've found...but it's still not even remotely similar to what I'm talking about. If there's no fan made projects of the like I really hope some company out there picks up a project like this, I'd LOVE to play it.
Attack of the Saiyans NEEDS a sequel, it was extremely addicting and well designed. I'd kill to see a sequel made
Juila Bruno Mainly because a lot of people buy them...even if they are not good....profit.
That Weird Hetalia Fan well to be fair, Legacy of Goku 2 ended up being a fuckton better than Legacy of Goku 1
There was a hint. At the end of the game frezia would appear.
Tony Little we know that.
I still cant believe we never got a sequel for Attack of the Saiyans. What a slept on RPG..
I swear.. everything monolithsoft touches turns to gold.
+ShulkReks I will...actually nelieve that. Nobody has ANY proof of a BAD game they made
Dbz legacy of goku 1 is unbelievable in how weak Goku is. Not only did they make him weak, they made him even WEAKER than he was at the beginning of Dragon Ball! Here Goku would get killed by wolves, when Kid Goku would win and literally eat them for dinner.
+JackZake64 And in DBZ, Gohan would literally chase around dinosaurs, cut their tails off, and roast them!!! #GohanIsASavage
part I hated them most about LoG1 was the strange hit detection, if you spam attacks, it takes forever to kill anything, but if you time your swings, it takes 2 or 3 hits to kill things, almost like it has an invisible strength bar similar to secret of mana
I liked the Legacy of Goku games but I agree the first had a lot of problems
I was just watching your video about doing a nuzlocke in 1 sitting
You know having Dragonball and DBZ RPGs actually kinda makes a lot of sense, because aside from the fights, the themes of the show revolve around training to get stronger and stronger.
So much nostalgia for Legacy of Goku 2.
Yeah, that's my second favorite DBZ game next to Budokai 3, which was one of the first games I ever owned.
My first game ever was Legend Of Zelda :A link to the past
ikr I think I played it like 5 different times trying to change how I went about it. same for Buu's fury. I still have both games but my game boy is busted :P
keero kamiya Wow, you seem to love these 2 games as i do! Good thing Legacy of Goku 4 is going to be made.
I spend sooo much time playing Legacy of Goku 2 and Buu's Fury, fantastic games. LoG1 was such a disappointment though.
"Attack of the Saiyans would be the last Dragon Ball Z RPG" until eleven years after it's release with DBZ Kakarot.
This video series truly is Super Sand Legend
Who do I have to blow to get a sequel to Attack of the Saiyans?
lord Freeza
RisingJericho lol
Mr.NeedleMouse32X NO THEN THE STORY WILL HAVE NO PLOT
Zarbon is probably a good place to start.
Me
On your knees dog
I really wish they would remake the legacy of goku series (buus fury as well) and put it all on one 3ds game. That would be sweet, I played the shit out of those games.
IAmTheGreatBenjie And the LoG1 portion would include the gameplay improvements from LoG2, of course!
seanmyster6 Well yeah, that's a given XD
Attack of the sayans was one of the best games based on anime I ever played.
By the way, you forgot to talk about DBZ collectible card game.
I Would sell my soul for a sequel to Attack of The Saiyans.
Agreed. It's actually one of my top 10 favourite JRPGs ever.
hakanaru densetsu you mean?
I'll always regret choosing to get Legacy of Goku over Legendary Super Warriors back in the day. That was when I learned that just because a game was on a new system doesn't mean its not going to suck horribly.
I'm giving all my support to get this man back into making content.
these videos are great. this whole series is extremely comprehensive and very entertaining.
well made content
thanks a lot for all your hard work
>The game sold so well that a Japan-exclusive version was made called 'Legacy of Goku 2 International'
>International
>Japan exclusive
Mimn Sho yeah, but that’s the USA version of a game being ported to japan, this is like if they created an entirely new Mario game, kept it to Japan, and called it Mario USA
Oh man, Legacy of Goku 2 and Buu`s Fury...the nostalgia, love these games so much
Legendary Super Warriors is my favorite DBZ game and gameboy Color game
I always felt DBZ was better for RPGs than fighting games. Think about it, the show is about the characters training to take on the grand threat. With a little creativity that training period could be the level building levels before facing against the end boss.

Christian Repass I think the Legend of Zelda would be much longer than Dbz games
***** yeah now that i think about it it probably would be. im not gonna lie, i was pretty tired when i posted this.
ITS OVER 8000
WHAT? OVER 8000?! Lol bruh that's weak just go super sayian or somethin
DBZ Legendary Super Warriors was my SHIT. It was amazing. And I played it so much my dad hid the game to get me to stop.. years later after I forgot about it, I got it again. and I was addicted.. again lol
I had no idea that one of my favorite childhood games, attack of the sayains, was made by the creators of xenoblade!
I wish Legendary Super Warriors had gotten a sequel - it's such a damn good game.
There are actually 6! characters in Legacy of Goku 2. At least as far as I remember. You can unlock Hercule at the end of the game.
So 5 and a half characters?
A while back I found Attack of the Saiyans at my local Gamestop. I was shocked beyond belief that I found it. I often looked, but never thought it would be there and pretty much settled that I was going to have to get it from Amazon.
But I never would have even known to look for it without this video.
So, thanks, Jared. It really is a great game and I owe you for making me aware of it.
I got it as a kid and sucked at it. I'm pretty sure I immediately sold it after getting it. Meh, at least you enjoyed it.
Call me crazy, but doesn't dragon ball z or otherwize lend itself rather well to an rpg.
Ye, but the action of the series also called for fighting games.
Well, huge parts of the show are about level grinding.
Schwarzer Ritter Lol. I think he was talking about the epic nature of the story.
A proper action RPG would be great I think. Imagine a Dragon Ball Z story mode using a similar engine to Kingdom Hearts or something? That would be cool.
dragon ball heroes biachez
ohhhh man the legacy of goku series. Absolutely loved those games growing up. Got each of them on release date respectively.
Dam it Jared. Now you got me wanting to to play that last ds title.
I was lucky enough to play it completely through. It is truly an amazing DBZ RPG. Get it. Now.
Joker is right. It's amazing, and I thankfully own it.
This video OOZES with nostalgia. I've played most of the games here when I was little, courtesy from a friend who gave me a CD containing ROMs of Dragon Ball games. Back then I didn't know they were emulated games.
*after watching the DBZ Review series* Well, now I have to go download the Japanese DBZ theme.
DBZ:Attack of The Saiyans is freaking amazing...hope for a sequel .
Wow, the special "Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans" is actually an adaption of the game o_O
That may be why it never had an official NA dub or release
No, Plan to eradicate the Saiyans is a remake of the movie DBZ Gaiden
*****
Which in turn was an adaption of the game. Adaptception.
(Wait, is that meme still a thing?)
@EvilDoresh
LOL you didn't knew?
Ya know, I recently discovered this guy, and I gotta say, I really appreciate how he just gets to the point of the video and stays on topic the entire time, unlike so many other internet reviewers who feel they should shoehorn in some awful contrived "comedy" skits and/or one liners and cut away from the actual content constantly.
I hope it stays like that.
My profile picture says it all.
It's a damned crime that Attack of the Saiyans never got a sequel.
Even if they released a "Legacy of Goku 4" on the 3DS console, I believe it would be a must have :)
I absolutely love Legacy of goku 2 & 3!!! =^-^=

Webfoot games actually is considering it, judging from their FaceBook page. I think they might crowd fund it, so you can always support that.
Didgeridoo Player well if they straight up said " we will make Legacy of Goku 4" and need crowd funding, i'd definitely be there to help :) the games were just simply fun =^-^=

On their Facebook they revealed they are working on the game. They are likely going to pitch the game to Namco and Toei for approval though
I usually complain about things in my reccomended tab.
I saw this was DBZ related though and decided to take a look.
Now, I got someone else in my subscriber box. Well done :)
Keep up the good work.
Hi there ProJared, I am also a massive fan of Dragonball z, I have the games, the manga etc I really enjoyed your game retrospective. I would be interested to know what you think of Battle of Z
I like your pic
Legend of the Super Saiyan, and Attack of the Saiyans...two great DBZ rpg's that never saw a sequel.
the intro is so awesome Jared
I hope he links or if someone can tell us the name of the song so we can Download it.

These videos are awesome! I've played a handful of them and I think it's great that you showcase them in these vids! Keep up the good work! :D
WAIT!!! so your telling me the creators of xenoblade chronicles made a DBZ game? SHUT THE FUCK UP AND TAKE MY GOD DAMN MONEY!!!!!
You like dbz?
yes i love it
***** no
It's actually a really good game you should definitely try it out
Shulk Swag It's a pretty solid RPG. You should try it.
I have never been a fan of anything Dragonball related, so I didn't realize it had such a rich history. These videos have been very fun and informative to watch!

I never played Attack of the Saiyans before... but after watching it in this video...
*goes to EBay to see any available second-hand cartridges*
That would work too XD
Agree. I can't help but imagine on what kind of success the series could have made.
I have it is awesome still waiting for the sequeal
I got it from gamestop used and I want a sequel so badly
A lot of the grind and frustrating parts you mention are the normal jrpg elements that are enjoyable imo. It never gets old seeing Goku power up... never! Good review,
Please monolith soft bring dbz attack of frieza??? To the 3ds.
This, please this, a sequel to Attack of the Sayians on 3DS would be the best thing ever.
okagron Goldminor1127 Nintendo got the rights to Monolith Soft, that's why it's never going to happen.
Yeeeees pls do this gameeeee!

Littlejohn133 WHEN IS IT COMING OUT? WHEN?
Littlejohn133 I really hope that one makes it to the west. (not willing to take a risk with any region-lock disabling exploits)
Rely bro
The demo is out now
I loved your retrospective series of videos for DBZ.
They're well written, entertaining and incredibility informative.
Please continue to make of this series!
The Legacy of Goku series were the best DBZ games in my opinion.
Micah Buzan My favorite are the xenoverse games
Yes, I'm not kidding, no I don't care
Sam Ringstrom i love them to and i dont know why
Attack of the Saiyans was my childhood,I waited for the sequel for 9 years,my 13 year old self was so disappointed.
MrTntsupreme Didn't the game come out in 2009...
Dick Benibubu No it fucking didn't,did it?
It did came out... It came out in april 2009...
Perhaps new DBZRPG is over due?
We need to spam Bandai Namco until they release a new one
Xenoverse? It's got it's flaws, but I'm loving playing as a Namekian of my own creation. Not to mention the replay value. When I finish this play through, I'm probably gonna replay as a Frieza race. It's flawed, but a damn good experience for DBZ fans
MelanicDisaster Yeah but Xenoverse is more a fighting game than a RPG
The gameplay is a 3d arena style fighter, but a lot of it is RPG like. Level up system, MMO style hub with other players, and a shit ton of RPG aspects. It's the kind of DBZ game I've wanted for a while. Even with it's flaws. Oh and the story is good for a DBZ game. Finally we dont have a half ass rehash of the anime.
Have you heard of Dragon Ball Heroes. There are a couple of them for 3DS and they are card game style RPG's but Japan only. We need to yell at Bandai Namco to make an American release.
Oh man, I still love legendary super warriors so much.
Japan didn't get a dbz game? Achievement unlocked: 'Murica!
wow. what a GREAT video. so informative and your perception of the content of these games is top notch.
Legacy Of Goku was fucking amazing.
Memories.
super sayan densetsu is the best dbz game ever made
HONEST. TRUTH.
So much memories to go with it..
That and Legendary Super Warriors.
i know i'm 3 years late, but log2 and buu's fury are better imo
@Bruno
True, Invasion of the saiyans could be good too, but instead of saiyan and saibaimen pallete swaps they gave us animal abuse
I love the work you do Jared! you were the only reason I watched Sidescrollers!
You can totally break Buu's Fury if you eat the Senzu Bean before giving it to Videl. You get more Senzu Beans than you'd ever actually need.
If you beat Dabura as SSJ Gohan, whatever SSJ meter you had left will remain on your Ki bar as Ultimate Gohan
Legendary super warriors Yup, yup, great game, played a lot when waiting for my date in the cinema, sure im a cool girl
cool, are you also going to get Dragonball Fusions 😀
Vessel I dont care if its a girl or a boy im just ask if they're going to get dragon ball fusions for the 3ds also are you going to get it or are you one of those people who are like "xenoverse is better..no Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is" or you just dont care for the 3ds
Leit Sabbath damn I guess I'm getting old cause I didn't know talking about getting Dragon Ball Fusion meant getting a bj so what is this the new Netflix and chill. =.=
MultiTarded I like you, pal. You keep it real.
How tf could you see in the cinema the game boy doesn’t have a light
This was a pretty good retrospective. Save Jared guys.
I wonder if Dragon Ball Fusions will be able to take the place as best dragon ball RPG.
I'm just hoping the story is good, but the customization, gameplay, and open-world looks epic >w
Talessaga2 Doubt it, Attack of the Saiyans is amazing
Here to confirm that Fusions is indeed better. The sheer depth of the game is insane,1200 playable characters! Just, wow. It''s shorter, but WAY better.
Sir Saiyaman i second that.. AOTS is the shit!!!
XD
THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A DBZ GAME, I'LL BREAK IT DOWN SO THEY UNDERSTAND
STEP 1: GET DBZ TENKAICHI 3
STEP 2: IMPROVE THE GRAPHICS, NEW CHARTER MODELS, NEW VISUALS, NEW STAGES
STEP 3: ADD MULTIPLAYER
CONGRATULATION, YOU'VE NOW MADE A DBZ GAME WORTH BUYING.
how to type: stop holding shift or mind the caps lock.

Dragon Ball z Legendary Super Warriors was my shit! My friends and I played this game for years. When that music started the memories just came flooding in. Thank You!
? You missed DBZ the Trading Card Game :(
Dragon Ball Z Legendary Super Warriors was such a fun game! One of my favorite DBZ games!
AND NOW WE HAVE XENOVERSE!!!
Xenoverse 2
Dragon Ball Kakorat
Legacy of Goku 2 and Buu's Fury are my favorite GBA games I have. Bought them on release day. Still got the posters hanging on my wall.
I liked legacy of goku :(
Likewise, bro. I loved is a kid.
Sorry about the missing words. I'm prone to brain farts unfortunately.
mmm.. i dont like the first release but the second is awesome ;D with multiple characters and great mechanics :D
Justin Lafser Too bad there hasn't been a character like trunks with "two" swords huh? im sure that would make you very happy
#LOLimtoofunnyAndICantStopUsingHashtagsOnRUclipsNowHelpMePlease
akihiro kina yea i remember it had me sold on the multiple characters, i never saw the lack of stats in the first game as a horrible thing just something happily added in the second
Ah LOG 2. Some of my happiest childhood memories.
This entire series has just been an utter delight.
Legendary Super Warriors is my fucking jam. Wish there was a sequel, it'd be really easy to sell on android/iOS
We need a 5th part since dragon ball games rose up in popularity in these past 7 years and so many great ones have come out.
DBZ legendary super warriors was the hit in our school. Spend so many hours with it.
Great series of videos. Informational and brought back good memories!
I'd love to see a follow-up on this for the games released since the end of this. If I'm not mistaken, the 3DS got quite a few DBZ games
Dragonball Z Sagas is amazing. I still have it for my GameCube. I can say that I play and enjoy it from time to time even today.
Another great video Jared, thanks for covering attack of the saiyans. I've been on the fence about whether or not I should purchase it but I'm def picking it up now
Oh wow, listening to that battle music from Super Saiyan Densetsu brings back memories.
While watching all these videos.. I realized something.
the DBZ series always seems to have amazing animation. By amazing I mean painstakingly well done, and a huge variety of animation
I'm still waiting for a sequel to Attack of the Saiyans, Attack of the Saiyans is awesome.
11:55 The most convoluted yet funniest thing about how the hit detection in Legacy of Goku 1 works is the fact that there is no hit stun but rather INVINCIBILITY after a character gets hit. The game tricks you just fine into thinking there would be something like combo attacks while Goku strikes alternating with his two fists... xD
Watch the TAS of mugg1991. The combat in this game is one big hit & run strategy.
Absolutly love the legendary super warriors
Still waiting for a sequel after all these years
I remember playing the DBZ legend of the super saiyan for the Famicon..
I loved Legacy of Goku 2. Easily one of my favorite DBZ games.
