The song is telling you not to believe everything you are told, or raised to believe in. It is about Catholic school with nuns and corporal punishment. But the teachers are just doing what they believe is right and what they were taught. Authority can be misled too. Released in 2019 on the EP, Micro. More? Homeback is about the fighting in their Ukraine homeland in 2014. Judgement (and Punishment) has a vocal one take video.
Tati, the singer, writes the lyrics...she is the best at what she does. The players are amazingly talented...my favorite band for sure. I will see them in about 3 months...my bucket list. Great reaction, man...
Just saw them last weekend with disturbed and Breaking Benjamin, they crushed it. Not sure if that's the tour you're going to but they put on a great show
The *composition* tho!! This took my song of the year for 2019. Love the choppy angular riffing. I've never bothered counting it out, just grew into knowing where the adjustments to the headbanging are over dozens of listens LOL Gotta love Vlad on the drums being almost allergic to boring old 4/4, so much so that he does as much as he can to disguise the fact when they go there for a big chorus! The chill section is *so* nice with Eugene doing his both-hands-always-busy-but-always-in-service-to-the-song melodic lead on bass, while Roman does shimmery atmospheric chords on the guitar. And when Tatiana comes back in with that tender vocal.... o_O it's *quite* beautiful, & difficult to believe that you were in a pretty fierce blast beat a minute previous! All 4 of them are *top-tier* at what they do. Anything they've done since Vlad joined is excellent imho, so the "Micro" EP, "Macro" LP, & "Wallflowers" LP. Vlad being a classically trained pianist to trade (yes, really) seems to come to the fore thru the "Wallflowers" album- he wrote ~80% of the music in there. From said album, I recommend taking a listen to their gorgeous thru-composed (cos who needs choruses, that's why!) single "Vortex". If you're not impressed, I'll give you your money back myself!! p.s. if "Vortex" leaves you feeling a little woozy (think of the title- it's done its job), & wondering how a single-guitarist heavy band can possibly sound so HUGE, treat yourself to watching Eugene's bass playthrough vid for it- it's a 5-string drop-A #MasterClass ;)
This song takes what most people either have heard or know first hand about the worst parts of the Catholic School experience and reminds everyone that it's not just about that but about questioning things anyone tells you whether it's from a school or not.
Glad to see Jinjer back on your channel! Awesome reaction, keep the Jinjer coming!
