- On Tuesday, Piers Morgan broke his silence following his exit from ‘Good Morning Britain.’ The journalist received backlash over his comments about Meghan Markle, following her interview with Oprah Winfrey. On Monday, the 55-year-old television personality said on-air that he didn’t believe Markle’s claims of struggling with mental health issues and suicidal thoughts while she was pregnant with her son, Archie. Now, multiple reports say the Duchess of Sussex might have had something to do with Morgan’s exit.

I am a person of colour, I am mixed race, my father was black and my mother was white and both were immigrants to this country in the 60's. Are there issues of racism in this country, yes, are there issues of gender biases, homophobia etc yes, these are issues that will be unfortunately found around the world in every country, does this excuse these issues? no, but it should put them into some sort of perspective, I don't believe that this country is some kind of stand out racist bigoted place, a beacon of hate and intolerance. I was born in this country, had a free state education, trained as a nurse which gave me a career in this country, was free to pursue any ambition that I wanted, felt that I had the freedom to express my opinions without fear or favour, felt that I was able to exercise my vote for the politician of the day. I have experienced the odd racist comment and I know many others have experienced racism from the minor to the major but I ask myself to what degree has this stopped me from acheiving? If some fool wants to express his/her racist attitudes then go ahead, just don't get in my way and all will be well.
I personally do not trust Meghan Markle, I remember her saying in some interview that she paid her way through college when as far as I understand it it was her father who paid her way through college, she is estranged from him and her sister, when she broke up from a previous fiancee she apparently posted him his ring without even a call. She has apparently bullied a number of staff at the palace. She has I believe numerous PR firms she employs i presume to make sure she can create the perfect brand of herself, she uses the prime buzzwords of the day race and mental health which evokes everyones sympathy and outrage. Now much of what I am saying can be disagreed with, it is just my opinion based on some of the things I have mentioned but I believe I have the right to express that opinion as someone has the right to disagree with it. I am not a particular fan of Piers Morgan but I appreciate his willingness to express his thoughts freely and I understand his perspective on this particular issue, whether one agrees with it or not it is an honestly held belief and he should not be accused of being racist because of that belief. I suspect that other men and women of colour may hold a similar opinion but are to afraid of the woke crowd to put there heads above the parapet for the inevitable backlash they would likely receive.

In Canada we enjoy Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan. He has a healthy attitude most of the time and enjoy listening to his side of the story. He makes you think. He has years and years of experience and I think is a pretty good judge of someone's character. Too bad he is leaving the program.

And it’s for those reasons why people don’t like the press anymore. Journalists should simply state what they know about the situations they’re covering and nothing more. No personal insights, no ESPN-like discussion panels. Just give us the information. And if there’s investigative journalists, investigate everyone involved without bias. There's a difference between turning off your television and trying to get a programme cancelled. There's a difference between choosing not to listen and trying to force the other person to shut up.

How does one define bashing and how does one define critcisim. Who rules what is it? And what oversight is there for that body? What are the consequences? As it stands a man criticized a woman, the woman complained to his employer, the employer fired the man. There's perhaps some legal investigation into the events but it's all rather above board.
