agree with all you have said, HOWEVER franklin should have retired 5 years ago. he hasnt been competitive come finals for 5 years now. in the minor rounds hes awesome, but in the heat and speed and ferocity of finals he is totally lost for 5 seasons now. in that final this year he was utterly useless. off in the 1st quarter and never returned. he is playing only for the money. hes finished. i wish he would retire.
Michael Long was nothing special. he was beaten soundly by Graham.Wright in the 1990 grand final. Long never really became the player people thought he would. Wanganeen was way better.
Winston Abraham was always my favourite growing up. Not saying he was the best ever but he should get more of a mention in these, surely. He could read and respond ahead of time that tiny fraction earlier than others and the result was often a slashing run missing opposition by the breadth of a a boardinghouse scrape of butter. Played juniors against Andy Krakouer and his cousin Scotty. Andy was always going to make it. I remember him kicking something like 1.12 out of his side 1.17 for the day one game. Said g'day to him again at the record crowd game in Launy against the Hawks. Chatted aways about old times. The guy is just a genuinely great footballer and good bloke.

Very good picks guys but I disagree on one. Goodes was probably the best. People forget that he played ruck against many over 2 metres & he was 7cms shorter. Buddy is probably better than anyone else & only surpassed or equalled by Lockett & Carey let alone indigenous. He's definitely a better kick than both of them & with Carey that's saying something. Silk has changed the game result off his own foot many, many times. Wanganeen was an amazing freak of nature, like Cyril & McCleod. Those 3 belong together but Buddy & Goodes were outstanding. Even though he's not won a GF at Sydney, he's brought the patrons into AFL in Sydney.
