@MUFC You're straight out lying there. Not every country loves soccer. It's popular in nearly all countries but to say every country loves it is just bullshit.
Big port fan here, love this video man. The 07 grand final and the 2014 prelim are two games burned into my memory. Can't wait to see what the Rozee, Duursma and Butters era can do for this club.
Dude, I'm a massive Port fan too! Watch you all the time Ozzy! Great video Jagger. Really well done. Was lucky enough to attend that 2014 prelim. Best game ever! I've said since toward the end of last season that Power will win the flag this year! Let's hope they still can.
just stumbled across this video and i can say that your 3 year old comment has aged very well. port are looking fantastic this season i say this as someone who does NOT like port at all haha but you gotta give credit where it's due. hope ya embrace september

@@chuvvomaj2185 that's nice to hear your story regarding, being a crows fan and support our us , it's nice to have had a sa rivial team, go for us. The way I see it , my opinion, is that , as long as it's the victory is not a Melbourne team in the gf , I would bet Would always be great..

I remember being at work in the Aus desert and getting score updates from a colleague. He wasn't even a Port fan, but came running over when the comeback was on! Being a Port fan aside, not enough teams play this way anymore instead trying to reduce the damage of a loss. The fast and hard nature of a comeback effort, taking risks, going until it's over - that's how the game should be played.
I was lucky enough to watch the 2016 final in a Roadhouse in the Northern Territory, Kulgera I think it is. Plenty of Sydney and Bulldogs supporters there despite being so remote.
Absolutely! The belief Port had in their fitness was immeasurable with Burgess at the club and their constant comeback wins that year Hinkley was a revelation with an all-out attacking style in contrast to all the ultra-defensive styles that had imbedded themselves in the AFL since the Swans had won the '05 Premiership! There were countless times in games where I can vividly remember the likes of Schulz and The Hoff getting a mark on the 50m arc and running freely into goal, as was the attacking setup of the team! The Dogs in 2016 played their part in changing the ultra-defensive concept by winning the Premiership and it has been a slow burn since then, but the 2020 Premiership and beyond will prove to be for the brave, attacking teams and leave defensive coaches in a 'has been' era I'm a born and bred Victorian and I'm a signed up Carlton member but I was gearing up to unleash on every social media platform and every talk back radio station I could get on if Hinkley ended up being let go by Port. Yes he and his players went into their shell a bit after the 2014 prelim, but what could have been not just for Port but the AFL as an industry if they had of gone on that year and spanked WCE instead of Hawthorn doing so. Champion Data and Ranking Points would have imploded.
Goosebumps. This is incredible. Over that two year span we played in some of the most thrilling games I've ever watched, having come from the absolute depths of despair as you eloquently put it. I still remember reading the news about John McCarthy in the schoolyard at lunch time in 2012 and just crying the whole night. I think about that 2014 Prelim and what could've been almost every weekend of footy, as I reckon we would have definitely beaten Sydney. Here's to a big 2020 and near future. NTUA.
Not going to lie, this video brought back some emotions I wasn't quite ready for. That Hawthorn game broke me for a long time in 2014. And then you had to bring up the 2017 Extra Time After The Siren goal. I'm not crying, it's just raining...
This year is our final chance I think. I was a lot more optimistic however before Duursma and Butters went on a one way trip to InjuryLand™️ last Friday -_-
2014 was the first year I was a Port member. This season is and always will be nostalgic for me. Doing the Never tear us apart song every game was the most exciting thing, the atmosphere of the stadium was thunderous. Having such a great team with Wingard, Boak, Shultz and more was great but there are so many forgotten greats as well. White, Neade, Butcher, Monfries were some superstar players that don’t get enough praise. I was gut wrenched at the end of that preliminary final, I was distraught. The magic of that season has never truly been recreated and it’s a real shame. That team was almost perfect but even though we didn’t win that season, that team has always been my favourite to date. Thanks so much for this video
I feel this was about the 2013 and 2015 seasons and my dockers. Hawthorn beat us both times we should have won. Especially 2015 we finished minor premiers and won the first qualifying. Our only major loss of the season was choking against a team going after 3-peat glory that had no right to win on our home soil and having lost against the eagles 2 weeks before the long road trip. It's insane we stumbled 2015. I really never recovered to have that spark like those years 2011-2015. With our changed guernsey and with Ross Lyon making us competitive the year he galvanized the group. It's not just success that makes barracking fun. But despair mixed with missed opportunity can rob you of the spirit when you see its not a bunch of guys willing to do anything for one another to succeed. Hawthorn being too good and taking their chances in that era broke many sides... Only Geelong got through to keep fighting for flags. And only a Bulldogs fairy tale run can soothe some of my disdain for thier time at the top.
Imagine if someone said to you at the end of 2014 that all we'll get in the next 5 years is a sole Elimination Final loss? Watching highlights from 2014 depresses me to no end.
Well some times you have to roll with the punches unfortunately, takes time, but since 2017 and building a nice squad to build around boak wines Jonas westhoff hartlett with guys like motlop lycettt Rocky Dixon Burton, the draft kids from last year plus unsung guys like dbj Ebert Marshall clurey.
As Port Fan that prelim is my fav game even though we lost! Thanks for an awesome video mate. As you said it will be forgotten but the supporters never forget!
Excellently told, well edited and a conclusion that leaves you with goosebumps. Make sure you watch this one to the end, people, you wont be disappointed. Looking forward to seeing what you do next!
Australian footy needs more stories like this- not just 6 minutes of game highlights. There are scores of stories like this across 120 years. Congratulations, I'm impressed.
this was such a well put together video might i say. i was there at the ‘14 prelim and what a game it was. i was soul crushed at 3rd quarter time, but when that siren went, i was destroyed. i’ve been through finals loses in my own football games but man did watching the prelim hurt so much more.
I am a North supporter but an MCC member and I was at the 14 PF. I have watched lots of games in the members but that one really stands out because I have never seen the Members swing behind a team like they did that day. Really roaring for Port in the last quarter. Thanks for the memories of a great match.
Still one of the games I’ll always remember. Biggest memory is port changing tactics and running in lines through the centre bounce for the last 5 minutes, desperate to score. It was insanity
The 2014 preliminary finals is one of the darkest days of my football life. I was and probably always will be a hard Geelong cats fan, which meant of course that I hated the Hawks. After the previous years prelim and hearing about Ports story, I was incredibly eager for Port to win this match. When they lost I was devastated. Hawthorn went on to win not only that years grand final but the next years, and Port became irrelevant to me again. I like both teams now but it's interesting looking back at my childhood selfs views and reliving the memories
Im a Hawks fan and i was at that game on the far RHS of ports goal in the 4th Qtr. Couldn't of said it any better when you said the Hawks players were relieved, so were us fans, the joy of hodgey smothering that footy with 1minute left on the clock and then the RAW of the crowd around me siren sounded short after was pure relief! Port were a powerful and intimidating team in 2014. Best game ive been to and will never forget!
Very similar to if Collingwood had of defeated Geelong in the 2007 Prelim final, the margin was less than a goal, it would have been Port vs Pies, Geelong wouldn't have started their afl era legacy as early. Collingwood or Port would have been Premiers instead......It's kool looking back at points in time where if one thing happens, it changes things drastically.
Being a port fan as a little kid I remember, her crying at the end of that and my dad jumper of the couch (who goes for hawks) one of my saddest memories

@@samdaniels6987 hey! Sorry for the belated comment! AFL is the Australian Football League (not soccer, Aussie rules). To score a goal you need to kick the ball (can’t run it through or hand pass it) through the big posts for 6 points.
