    So, I am used to watching your more recent videos, but i've caught up so i'm going back to watch the old ones. I want to say you have done an excellent job improving your editing skills over the years. This one scared the crap out of me with the abrupt loud start lol. Just want to see it's so obvious how much work you've put in and how far you've come. Great job!

    Well done bro. Been watching some cold water recommendations lately as I’m adding a tank to my garage and you confirmed (and added) some species. Again, we’ll done and thanks. Subscribed.

      Eh. Some good info but some issues with oversimplifying certain things. "The barb" for example is way too broad of a category, there are many variations in the different barb species. Not all of them are fin nippers or aggressive in any way, cherry, rosy and Odessa barbs are absolutely all peaceful community species in my experience. Their temperature and water parameter requirements do all vary somewhat as well.
      "The platy" as well is not a cold water or temperate fish. Xiphophorus Variatus, or the "Variatus Platy", is an entirely different fish, but is indeed suited for cooler climes

    Hmm never kept barbs at sub 20 degrees normally 24 or so most fish in the lower end of the scale are temperate fish like panda cory they will go very low always look at where the fish come from ,,,most of the time a heater may not be required to heat the water rather than keeping it level some are defo cold water but check their wild surroundings

    I'm looking for some fish. I love goldfish but they get abit too big for my setup. I'm after something around 3 to 5 inches max size. Any recommendations?

  • @whatever833

    I keep cherry barbs in my community tank, along with CPDs, amano shrimp and a Betta! Ikr but it works. Cherry barbs are barbs but they aren't really aggressive like the rest of the barbs. Most of the aggression and activity is kept entirely to themselves. They don't even chase the little CPDs. My betta is a plakat so it's got the shorter fins and it's a giant betta so it may be a bit intimidating for them, but I planned it that way. Cherry barbs definitely work in a community tank they've manage to replace Zebra danios as my go to dither/ action fish for a community tank. They are almost as active and almost as fast as the zebra but they are way way more colorful. They do just fine in a community tank if you give them enough space. Mine are in a 29 gallon (US).

    Hi mate. Love your stuff. Question. I'm setting up a little 10L planted nano for my daughter. Going to do cherry shrimp and maculata rasbora. I've been watching MD tanks and he did this with no filter or heater. Can I do this here in Australia? I have a really small usb water pump that I got off Amazon. I stuffed a tiny bit of filter floss in it. Can I get away with just this and a light ? Cheers in advance mate

  • @kenjiro2676
    @kenjiro2676 Год назад

    1:28, people need to OUTCROSS new strains to widen the gene pool. Diverse genes make for truly healthy and hardy fish LONGTERM.
    It is also a good idea to have temperature variations throughout the year to weed out weaker fish, keep the yearly temperature variations within their natural limit (the limit they experience in the wild).

    Hi, I'm new to the hobby, I still don't know much about cycling a tank, I set up my tank 3 days ago and i don't know if I should change the water or if it would it slow down the process of cycling my tank. any suggestions?

    • @tiffanyrosea.i.t.9239
      @tiffanyrosea.i.t.9239 4 года назад +1

      I wouldn't change the water. I would keep the temperature on 80 and the lights off . Beneficial Bacteria grows and maintains in dark and warmth. If you have someone to give you cycled bio media that would jumpstart the cycle for sure 👍🐟Hope this helps you. Good luck 👍

    Barbs.. they NEED a shoal (“school”)…
    6 or more…
    otherwise they’re fin-nipping maniacs!
    They tend to get bored, so a large aquarium with other fast-moving fish will prevent them from being destructive.
    My 180gal has rosy & gold barbs, and Buenos Aires tetras, each with 8-14 individuals. They’re so busy chasing each other around that they don’t bother the bettas and guppies and whatnot.

    Bro. Love the content. Just one piece of advice. Try to edit your videos less and try to give yourself some breathing room between edits.
    Such great info but, I’m not sure how else to describe it; gets a little stressful listening to your videos after a while.
