You can’t fake that enthusiasm. Dan was having a blast! Now I want that pedal!
“My girlfriend’s really great. She’s got a nice car, and I’m so cool.” Nailed it.
Interesting... a pedal that might make guitarists think about harmony, scales and a bit of theory! Wow...sounds great and actually teaches you about playing music!
These are three of my favorite guitar people
For a brief moment I thought Dan was about to bring the Reinging Blood....
TC always so innovative.
WOW! Great new ideal for a pedal, looks tons of fun!!
Dan and Mick work so well together
I have to get one of these, TC is just killing it right now.
Wow I've been looking for an intelligent harmonizer forever! Boss's harmonizer is cool but limited. This pedal is just awesome yumminess! 😍 I think it'll b very inspiring to have on my board -I HAVE TO OWN IT!!!! 😁 Thank u Tore and TC for building it -u ROCK! 👍
As usual, I love watching Dan and Mick work their magic. Thank God someone demoed this pedal using clean guitar tones. All the other demos are death metal.
Awesome vid guys thanks
Nice to see people having FUN with a pedal instead of "pitching" it to sell. :)
Wow! Now that is cool! Kudos TC Electronic!
When something induces so much genuine laughter in grown-up men, it can't be bad! :D
This seems like a really fun pedal. 👍🏻😊
I wish that TPS would feature Pedal-Jesus Tore more often. Once a month at least.
Rafael Andrade Tore is a talentless idiot!
Really neat stuff!
Love it at 10:33 I flashed back to grade school in the 1960's and the theme/background music of the Disney Buena vista productions nature films.Lol
Dan and Mick (if you ever see this) now this is released can you do a pitch shift/harmony shootout like BOSS vs EHX vs THIS vs other brands
8:14 sold
I'm impressed by Dan's ability to turn "it's a bit glitchy" into a compliment.
#butThatsTheMojo
I don't even remember what I originally came to youtube for this evening but I'm so glad the rabbit hole brought me here! I've wanted a harmonizer like this forever!
Amazing!!
wowwww.. it really blows my mind dudeee.....
I love it. Also, what's going on with that phone trick, please?
It makes everything sound like a James Blake song.
Very nice.
Love it. Any update when are these shipping to stores? Thanks.
I want one!
What control do you use to get the delay?
No cats were harmed during the making of this video, although it might've sounded like it at times.
Fun video, fun pedal!
Jan Minor ...yep..sounded like a bag of cats!...lol
Hahaha... (meeee-owwwwww....scratchy screechy yowwwwww) -- there's a much better demo of this pedal over here ruclips.net/video/LpDbzrHJf2M/видео.html
You sold me, ordering ASAP.
this and the korg miku and you're good to go
Tom Jeffrey Macalisang
Used meme vendor?
@@whynottalklikeapirat not much of a meme if i've never heard of it...
tom, thanks for telling me about the miku... that would be an insane and really bizarre combo.
@@zhou_sei I did not know that all memes had to go through you to get stamped with the great seal of confirmed existence ...
Hahaha! Nice combo! The best (worst) thing about the Miku is the sloppy tracking. This TC pedal tracks flawlessly ... and polyphonically!!! But, together, they would make for some really fun, and insane, play time.
@@dunebillydave222 I think you could run the Miku first, and run delay and reverb after the harmonizer.
Any videos of this with an Allman brothers style harmonized lead that you can point me to? Thanks.
15:00 sold it to me, what the fuck is going on in Dan's mind
What app are you using on the phone for the Phil x thing?
what was that app they were using for those crazy sounds?
What is the max the pitch shifted note can be delayed (setting adjustable inside the software) thanks!
How does the Quintessence play with the Sub n Up?
So if I set this pedal to C Major, and set the doubler to add a third above, it will play a major third or a minor third depending on what note I play, for example, if I play C, E, or G, the pedal adds a major third, and if I play D, F, A or B, it adds a minor third, correct?
did not get the last scale. what is it if it is not Locrian?
if for no other reason than Tore, my next pedal is a TCE. Could be the fact they are outstanding, too. :)
What kind of distorsion pedal did you use guys becere the Harmony? Sounds fenomenal.
So what app was on the phone that Phil X used?I have bought my Quint should have it soon.
can it do pedal steel emulation with a forth bending up to a third or similar?
Yes! Any interval, anywhere, anytime!
What is the app Phil X uses to get a theramin effect?
Tore is the best
Damn
Release an album with those metal riffs Dan
What's Mick doing with his phone there around 9 mins..the Phil X thing..?
I will get one......!!! But how do you put it on the pedal chain? Before or after distortion?? Thank you for the answer...
Roberto Cadow instinct would make me put it before distortion
What a cool product. So glad to see it's not yet another £200+ fuzz pedal - like the world needs any more of them..!!!
Can you play thin lizzy style twin guitar solos with this??
Hi!! does anyone tried this pedal with a violin??? thanks!!!
We want sub‘n‘up with Mash please. There is nothing that is as good as my whammy5 out there... but i think a sub’n’up with more toneprint slots would be it!
YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Bebot!!!!!! Super fun app!
8:47 Thom Yorke's inspiration for a new album.
If you are real sharp on your intervals, you can do some crazy stuff with this
I hope Dan and Mick read this: if you ever do a video on harmonizers, please invite Matt Calvert from Three Trapped Tigers! He knows his stuff.
Unfair!! I'm having enough trouble with GAS as it is.
I might have to go into therapy 8^(
What if we offer to pay for the therapy? ;-)
I accept wholeheartedly. Most generous of you.
I can resist anything except temptation...
Clearly rehabilitation is going to have to be a gradual processor.... ermm process ( Freudian slip)
I've always liked Denmark, went there once, enjoyed a lot.
Would be cool if you do a "Why" toneprint
Imagine an x4 version of this.
I used to have a Boss Harmonist. Couldn't get the hang of of it and this seems even more complicated.
Looking at the Harmonist, I'm instantly confused. I've had the Quintessence for 4 days. On the 3rd.....I used it live.
It's WAY simpler than you think.
His John Mayer impression is spot-on
I guess we'll have to wait for a bigger version which enables you to switch to different keys with maybe a button for each key, 'cause you know...sometimes songs modulate?!?!
Diatonic chord sequences versus non-diatonic chord sequences, this duality forces the soloist to make different note choices. Perhaps a sequencer could be built with a bit of AI in it and a looper so that you could first play the whole chord sequence into it, the AI could analyze it, identify the notes in the chords and whether the chord sequence was diatonic or not, and use an LED display to alert you to upcoming chords in the sequence so you would know in advance what notes to choose relative to that.
Ahhh now I can ACTUALLY channel my inner Mick Ronson, haha
I love this...it's very innovative. Now make it have 128 presets I can recall by MIDI program change and I'll be first in line to buy it.
Better go buy a Pitchfactor or H9 instead!
@@richwalter5322 why are pitchforks midi or something ?
@@benallmark9671 Eventide Pitchfactor is yes, same with the H9
Shots fired at John Mayer the whole time :'D
Hmm Iv seen this video in my dreams months ago .could it be a sign? 🤔
Awesome pedal! What is that app thing they use at 9:43?
Javier Fernandez I second that!!
Probably the Toneprint App
Michael Lee Firkins would love this pedal.
13:59...YESSSS!!!!
WHAT IN HELL
This pedal is such an enigma for me. And the more videos I watch on it, the more questions I have.
1. What are key and scale switches for? It's not like pedal is gonna play your music in certain scale or key, it's the musician who creates tones in various scales. Do you have to tell pedal what key and scale is the next song in and thus turning knobs before each song? If I have to tell pedal what specific sound I want it to generate, I'd simply play it on a keyboard or smth. And what if the song uses two different scales or has two parts, each in different key?
2. Why does it have stereo input and output? All guitars as far as I know only have one mono output.
3. I'm literally only looking for a pedal that'll let me add major thirds to what I'm playing, regardless of what key and scale I'm using at the moment. Will this pedal let me do that?
4. This pedal is advertised as a fully analog pedal. Why does it have a USB port for then? If you digitally upload custom signals to it (also, what's up with that?), by deafult then it's not analog anymore, is it?
Someone please give me answers, I'm very confused :-(
Could this pedal do hotel California ?
Here's where it gets complicated, when you have a major third harmony, sometimes you want it to play a third when you play a fifth (b over a g in the key of c for example) but other times you want a fourth (c over a g in the key of c). This is where you need something like mash to alternate. Good stuff.
Alan Angel exactly....like the solo in highway star....some 3rds, some 5ths, some unison in one solo.
livingabovethe12th Yeah you need more than one preset or expression/mash control or custom scales. Harmonization takes some thought.
What was the Phil x thing you guys did with your phone?
Danny Walker GMC any word yet? I want to know too
Double D guitar hi mate there is a vid you can watch he uses an app called bebot and puts it right up to the pick up
Danny Walker GMC thank you!!
Danny Walker GMC if u put the phone up to ur pick up/on strings it will play wtv ur phone is playing through ur amp :D
Mick’s reaction at 8:15 was basically identical to my own...
Does it do octave up+down as well, like a Pog?
Apart from MASH (sooo cool) and toneprint, how is this different to a Boss Ps-6?
Matt Gilbert in tone print editor you should be able to do octaves and save them. Makes having a separate octave pedal obsolete really?
I still have a Mooer Tender Octaver as it's simple and sounds good.
Quintessence for harmonies, and my Behringer US600 for Whammy octaves up and down.
I need a sub‘n‘up with mash
I have the sub'n'up and yes....you need one they are awesome.
if sub'n'up gets MASH ill snag it up quicker than a sneeze in spring.
how about EHX pitch fork? Not mash, but momentary mode and exp pedal option also. Great pedal.
Whats the actual difference between choosing say g ionian and a dorian?!
They should harmonize identically if you harmonize the scales, shouldnt they?
I thought the same thing. I get why they did it like that but it's disappointing that this pedal doesn't have it's full functionality extended to other scales, considering how genuinely cool the it is. Perhaps they will release a firmware update for it or something.
I thought the same thing - it is a bit silly and redundant to have every major scale mode as an option on the pedal given that the knob in question could have been assigned to some more exotic sounds instead, but they probably realize that the primary target market for this pedal is people who know scant music theory. C’est la vie.
Not my thing at all but this is incredible
While Tore sits there not noticing the pedal is in their laps while turning knobs for the key and scale and they're trying to push the mash button WISHING they had an expression pedal input for bending and/or blending! I would rather have that than stereo any day.
Exactly why harmonizers always drove me mad. It's out of key. major minor minor major major minor diminished. I'm not up with things, but this is the first harmonizer I've seen that takes that into account.
This is crazy! Beyond my imagination!
3:55 - Tonight: I look at a pedal... Tore laughs... and Mick moves his fingers.
You can almost get a good slide sound out of that pedal.
More than les Paul, I think they meant Jerry Reed
The delay makes it into an arpeggiator, but its really stupid to have a knob for the modes. There is only 12 different diatonic scales in music, and this pedal is offering you 84 options to choose from. The ones who dont know music theory just ask the keyboard player what the key is. But the ones who do indeed love a clever pentatonic/blues/harmonic minor scales... so the custom option saves the day.
Sorry guys, I love you and all that but watching this video led me to specifically make a video as an introduction to harmony, scales, chords, modes, modulation, (etc.) with reference to the TC Quintessence fx pedal.
At 9:35 he is playing with his knobs lol
What was the cool thing they did with the phone?
They use an app (Bebot which has a lot of cool synth sounds) and send the audio coming from the phone into the guitar pickup, so it goes through the signal chain (in this case the harmoniser).
Kristof Neyens Guitar thanks man.
You're welcome, mate. Guthrie used to do it live, that's where I saw it first.
Wow thanks for the intro to that app bebot, it's game changing!

Sorry to say this guys (and don't take this the wrong way), but i can't wait to hear what this would sound like in the hands of Tom Quayle or Pete Thorn. I guess that to demo this properly you DO need to brush up on your theory! And to spend enough time to learn exactly what this pedal can do...
PS I KNOW that, as the title says "...the first time"... so forgiven for not knowing how the pedal works, or, more correctly not knowing what to DO with it. But i still want to hear it in the hands of Mr. Quayle!
As soon as I get my PhD in music, I'll buy one of these.
Brian May style?
Tore = master yoda
#IronMaiden!!! Double Leads
Weeee!..we sound just like Iron Maiden...with all these soaring harmonies. ..NOT!....I'm editing this comment....I just want to hear someone doing some neoclassical shred with the thing, but that's just what I like.I understand harmonizers aren't for everyone, but they CAN be used in other ways of course....but they keep teasing about soaring yngwie/ maiden type harmonies and I just want to see that demonstrated, but I do think it probably good for that. I just can't try it myself cause I can't find anybody that has it yet, and I've been kind of frustrated not being able to check it out...Sorry if I've been rude with my comments. .lol
First!
So if you change to another song in a different key you have to bend over and reset the pedal? huh?
Funny, I never knew Dan and Mick’s full names until they popped up on the screen...
Accidental Vegan They have last names? 😂
