  • It has been a while since I published a hot to make handmade paper making video. I have a huge plan of going back into to making recycled paper now that I've finally settled here in the UK.
    Spoiler Alert: I'm a bit rust at it. I'd blame the new materials and tools I have to work with but I think it is all a part of the process. I'm going to be sharing a papermaking video each month, so be sure to subscribe to follow along!

    I also had the same problems with the temu mold and deckle. I also removed the hinge and actually cut out the screen and restapled a new one to avoid that dip. Oh my goodness whoever made this mold and deckle obviously never made paper before!! It's totally unusable as is. I should have known just but looking at the listing photos, but I failed to realize these crucial design errors. It might be okay for paper with the thickness of cardboard haha
    I love your paper making videos. I'm excited to see how your new environment might influence your creativity ♡

      The only good thing I have to say right now about the temu one is that it works. 😬 I am pretty disappointed with the screen because it’s actually some sort of fabric and I don’t think it will hold up for long. I am actually excited to explore more until my mould and deckle arrives. I will be picking random wildflowers over the weekend and we’ll see how they were in papermaking. I will definitely share that here too. ❤️

    Any tips on selling handmade paper? I can not find any videos on the subject, loads on how to make but none on how to start a little side hustle in selling it, where, packing , presenting it etc , thanks 🙏

      Papermaking is fun especially for kids! It allows them to be messy and creative at the same time. ❤ Have a great time with your grandkids Gabriel!

    I bought paper making stuff like 5 years ago and ended up hyperfixating on other stuff before I had the chance to use it. How unfortunate that I want to do this at 11pm haha, my downstairs neighbors would not appreciate me blending paper right now!

    I have purchased both sizes of your mold and deckle and love them both!

      If I could turn back time, I would’ve brought a pair with me to the UK! This one from temu is flimsy 😅

    Thanks for this video. Your explanations are so clear! I have a question. Do you think it’s possible to place additives around the edges of the pulp after it’s in the mold, in order to create a sort of frame within the piece of paper, leaving the center area without any additives?

    • @shacee
      @shacee  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes you can! But it depends on the additives if it will naturally grab on to the pulp fibers. Otherwise it might just fall off when the paper is dry. 🤔 I suggest doing the embedding technique! Will make a video of this on too!

    I love your video's! After I watched the first one I started collecting all my scraps of paper from my Junk Journaling and I am planning to try to make some paper soon. I do have a question do you use dried flowers or fresh?

    • @shacee
      @shacee  4 месяца назад

      I’ve tried both! But I prefer to used dried flowers because they have a better chance of keeping their color. 🌸

    Do you know what I did wrong if my paper won't get off the mold, it really sticks to it? And when I get it off and put it on the cotton bed sheet, it falls right off. Thanks

    Thanks so much for the videos. I used to do papermaking a long time ago, and needed some brushing up! Just one question please- does the blender need to be a certain wattage or heavy duty? I need to buy one.

      My pleasure! I just got the standard kitchen blender one, nothing industrial. My only advice is to have a good water to paper ratio when blending so it doesn’t overheat. If the blender is resisting to blend, add more water. ❤️

      @shacee That's great! Thanks so much! Wasn't sure if hand held blenders were good for this, and then I saw your video. Used to use my mom's old blender back then, but that's gone by now! I'm off to buy a blender-really want to do this once again!☺️
