And doesn't have the same history with how they are represented in media. That's a apple to orange comparison. To be clear, I personally don't really think a voice actor race have to match the character's, and I have never considered Apu an offensive stereotype (though, worth noting I'm not Indian nor living in the US). @@curry94400 Yes it's okay if it happens to a white person, I'm well aware of the hypocrisy. Racists in academia even try to change the definition of racism just to allow racism against whites. Also Italians and Irish have a much worse history of discrimination in the US then Indians but no one ever complains about their stereotypes in the media. I'd argue Indians have gotten much more charitable representation in media than Italians, who are always stereotypical fat chefs or gangsters. The Scotts are more often than not Angry, backward drunks.
That is not remotely going to work. Michael is obviously and solely based on Michael Corleone (the little dude looks and uses the same facial expression that Al Pacino used in part 1 and 2). The writers will never make another Godfather parody, let alone make a cross universe fan fiction pairing between Michael Corleone and Jessica Lovejoy.
I hope in a future episode focuses on Laura Powers, Ruth Powers and Allison Taylor become ninjas, wearing ninja outfits, face cover by mask, their ninja weapons and practicing their ninja skills no sexy though, along with Marge, Lisa, Maggie and other female citizen of Springfield in Season 33 or 34.
Apu was a character that got off EASY as far as stereotypes go. He was a successful store manager that supported his family. His culture was only a small part of who he was as a character. Cletus Spuckler and Chief Wiggum are far worse stereotypes but somehow Apu was the one who crossed the line.
My favourite one-off character was Larry Burns, would love to have seen another episode with him. Unfortunately, that won't be possible given that Rodney Dangerfield has since passed. However, that one episode he's in will always be a classic to me.
A lot of these would be dependent on guest voice actors who are probably very expensive to get onto the show, which explains why many are only on the show once, or just make brief cameos now and then. Still I'd love to see some of them come back (Also, love the Game of Thrones reference with Mindys hair!)
I thought for sure one of the characters on your list would be Mr Snrub since he intrigued you so much. I think all the characters on your list could stand a return. I would add Herman of Herman's Military Antiques a very iconic character I do not think we have seen in a long time (I don't keep up with the show sadly).
Apu started as a stereotype (pretty much every character did) but like many others he was developed so much beyond that over subsequent seasons and became a layered, likeable and admirable character. It's a shame he is gone and a shame that some people can't (or refuse to) see beyond the stereotype as that's only applicable at face value.
I'm sure they will be able to find a suitable voice actor for Apu. He is one of the best parts of the show and deserves better than to be pushed into the background.
I miss all of these characters, I wish for many of them to make a comeback especially Lucille and Ruth who could both make appearances again. Lucille could honestly come back in a tree house of horror and Ruth for another Marge episode. I love all these characters and I would love for everyone to come back into the spotlight
I am very happy you put Cecil, Herb, Mindy, and Hank Scorpio. Those four are the ones I would most like to see return. Of course Troy McLure and the Lawyer I would really love to see come back but I don't think they should break their "Retirement" ceremoney.
It's too bad that both Troy Mclure & Lionel Hutz can never return due to the death of Phil Hartman. Surprised the series didn't get a replacement voice actor for those characters like if they could get Billy West or anyone else to voice them.
@@Dzuno18 It's the same with Edna Krabappel, they lost the late, great Marcia Wallace, which is why they retired her character. It's the question of would they willingly have just gave her a new voice actress.
This could be a good treehouse of horror segment. Even though they already did that with Frinks dad, they could still bring her back in the same way but she’s hellbent on revenge against Homer.
I laughed my Butt off when The Simpsons recently showed Ruth Powers! The fact they had her say " You forget your own neighbor!" Had me dying! Also, despite what the fan community says, I loved the Gaga episode. I'm not bothered about it, except for her comforting Lisa. She could've been there for anyone else....Hell even Milhouse 😆!
I actually wanna see laura come back for another episode with sara gilbert reprising her role just like how Pamela Reed reprised her role as ruth in one of the newest episodes of the show. I was thinking of an episode taking place in the future which will be non canon obviously where we see bart grown up and confessing his feelings to laura
Cecil did make a cameo in Bart's dream in the episode when he wanted a little brother, and the voice actor for Bob's father passed away not too long ago. However, I agree that it would be nice to at least get a little exposition on what happened to the rest of his family, including his nephew Neil.
Now I agree with all of these especially the Baby sitter and Jessica Lovejoy. The Babysitter would have a great awesome come to the show, also Hank was also an awesome boss
Maybe Jessica’s parents sent her off to juvie at some point after the events of “Bart’s Girlfriend”, and “Lisa Gets Chunky” takes place shortly after she was released.
Me and my friends have been watching the Simpsons for ages and the friends who was most saddened by Apu’s disappearance was the ones from south Asian background. Here is a quote from one of them “Wrong but funny representation is worse than no representation”
I always liked Homer's fembros like that blond one and Patty's gf. Plus I think it's important to show platonic relationships between different people in media, especially when most media is focused on a marriage relationship, which in real life, often doesn't last as long as platonic relationships.
At least Cecil had a nice comeback in the Simpsons Comic series. Him encountering Lisa and sharing the sorrows of the lesser noticed younger kid is just a great way of using character dynamics.
I want Apu back, I think he's one of the funniest and most sympathetic characters on the show. I think the criticism of Apu is a bit biased since more or less every character is a stereotype, and I like that Simpsons jokes with everything and everyone. Of all the stereotypes, Apu is the most likeable in my opinion.
I love your videos Lidia (hope I spelled ur name right), and this one especially bcuz I am a huge Simpsons fan but we need a video about colin. He was great for Lisa and since the Simpsons movie was cannon we need a video about Colin and why his return should come, thanks!
I’m with you on the Hank Scorpio thing, he was hilarious! I’d love to see him interact with burns, he’d be a great foil. The whole concept of someone who is very evil but treats his employees with high esteem is great. I realize now I just want more lawful evil characters… (yeah, he might be ruined by a second appearance but I love him)
I would love to see Cecil and family come back, along with Frank Grimes' son - they would make great recurring villains. Also Herb, I kinda liked his relationship with Homer.
You could say Jessica Lovejoy shows that, even Bart is often a brat and troublemaker, he still have some morals/boundries he would not push/cross. Also i also never seen Apu as a Stereotype. (Even if he had some more "stereotypical" things about him maybe) 1. EVERYONE in springfield is in one way or another a Stereotype. 2. He was still very likeable successfull and had deeper and fleshed out character. 3. Groundskeeper Willie is a even bigger and "worse" (not realy in my book) stereotpye but Scottish people love him.
Scott’s hate English, other Scott’s because they ruined Scotland! *skinner* : you sure do hate a lot of people… *Willie* : YOU JUST MADE A ENEMY FOR LIFE..
There are so many things that the Scottish have in common with us Irish folk! Booze Violence Swearing Red Hair Anger And an irrational hatred of everyone, including our own kind!
I _really_ wish they'd bring Bob's family back. The episodes featuring him after Funeral for a Fiend were still great, but they would've been even better if he had his wife and son plotting alongside him, not to mention how fun it is to watch him and Cecil bickering. Also, they should bring Jack Lassen from season 26, episode 7 back. He was a good villain -andwasveryattractive- so it'd be nice to see him again
1. Jesssica Lovejoy. She disappeared after she rode off with someone, hope nothing ugly happened there. I like to think that she has been sent away somewhere because of her behaviour.
brother from another series is one of my all time favorite episodes, used to watch frasier and simpsons as a kid growing up (weird, i know lol). so the crossover was and remains great to me
Huge fan of yours, subscribed to multiple of your channels. I think you have a lovely voice & way of speaking. However, I've never heard the word "dastardly" pronounced the way you said it. It was interesting, I definitely thought it was cool
They should make Ruth Powers, her daughter Laura, Allison Taylor, Jessica Lovejoy speak again and be friends to Marge, Bart and Lisa again. Also they should bring back Apu and Manjula and their 8 children back as well, I'd like to see that.
As a casual watcher of the Simpsons, I think Apu was more than just some stereotype. He was a well rounded character. I wonder if Hank Azira would have quit voicing him if it wasn't for that documentary. They even mentioned this in a later episode when Marge was trying to read Lisa politically correct bed time stories. Like...just because THAT guy saw Apu as nothing but an Indian stereotype doesn't mean everyone else did
Hank Azaria shouldn't have had to apologize for anything! He was a voice actor playing one of many characters he voices regardless of what their background is! But because one whiny little bastard only saw Apu for his race and not his character and made a freaking movie about it, suddenly voice actors everywhere have to 'stay in their lane' or risk bullshit racist accusations on social media.
I think the problem with Apu vs the characters who were recast is there are unrelated black nonstereotype characters. What I mean is there is Lou, Dr. Hibbert, Carl, Bleeding Gums, Dredrick, Janey etc. where is for Indians it's Apu and his family. So there is just one stereotype that represents all Indian people, which intentional or not send the message "this is what all Indian people are, and they are all the same". If there had been more indian characters that were major characters not just ancillary ones I think there would have been a chance for Apu to be recast with the same personality. That way the message is "this is what Apu is like not all Indian people". At this point however it may be too late for them to implement this. There is also the problem with how they initially addressed the issue with Lisa essentially saying "We don't care it's too hard for us to change, just deal with it". This at least is my abbreviated take as a part Indian person.
I don't think all scottish people are groundskeepers or all italians are pizza chefs. You shouldn't look to a cartoon to show you what people are really like. Its a fictional cartoon where the main character routinely strangles his 10 year old son. No one seems to be offended by that tho...because ITS A CARTOON
Cecil should definitely return, an episode should be the same plot on what happens in the comic between him and Lisa who became archenemies. (Like how Sideshow Bob and Bart and archenemies.)
Here is the list I want the Simpsons characters return to the future episodes of the Simpsons: * Don Vittorio * Apu * Jimmy the Snitch * Hank Scorpio * Troy McClure * Lionel Hutz * Sideshow Bob's family * Apu's family * Mary Spuckler
Honestly, the only way I can see Lionel Hutz, or even Troy McClure, for that matter, is if Phil Hartman’s son takes up voicing them, and I’m not sure he’d be up for it, considering that he and his sister kept a low profile after their parents died.
Hank scorpio is great, Mary Spuckler was perfect for bart after all she is the only girlfriend that return a few time, but apu he is and still is one of the best Character and citizen in Springfield.
This video has aged really well. I still would love to see a lot of these characters again especially Apu and Ruth Powers. Ruth and Ned would be so cute together! This is without a doubt one of your best older videos! I stand with everyone who says Apu was never a racist character and what the network did with him was totally unfair!

But that's two different situations.
Different people have different histories.
I always thought that Jessica Lovejoy getting involved with Fat Tony's son Michael would have been a great story
I love that pairing! I havnt seen Michael is ages either
Wow, that would be dynamite!
That’d be awesome!
Yeah, and I can easily see Sherri and Terri becoming Jessica’s lackeys.
I miss APU. Love his episodes as some of my all-time faves! Also Ruth and Mindy are wonderful/ beautiful! Wish we could see more of them! ❤
I always wanted to see Laura Powers again. We still see Ruth from time to time, so I don’t see how she can’t make a comeback.
Ruth Powers, Laura Powers and Allison Taylor are resembles.
I think Laura would’ve been a good big sister figure to Bart and Lisa.
Apu was a character that got off EASY as far as stereotypes go. He was a successful store manager that supported his family. His culture was only a small part of who he was as a character. Cletus Spuckler and Chief Wiggum are far worse stereotypes but somehow Apu was the one who crossed the line.
ikr ,,,,,, sigh ...
SJW
I love your videos. I have them on in the background when tidying.
Still I'd love to see some of them come back
(Also, love the Game of Thrones reference with Mindys hair!)
I thought for sure one of the characters on your list would be Mr Snrub since he intrigued you so much.
I think all the characters on your list could stand a return.
I would add Herman of Herman's Military Antiques a very iconic character I do not think we have seen in a long time (I don't keep up with the show sadly).
What about John Incogneto from when homer got barred from moes?
GUY Incognito!
I always wanted the Babysitter Bandit to come back. It would make such a good episode.
I love her character! She still stands out after all these years
She was the first legit villain of the show right? Burns was still basicly scrooge and sideshow Bob hadn't turned evil yet he just wanted revenge
Personally I’d like Laura Powers to come back
Apu started as a stereotype (pretty much every character did) but like many others he was developed so much beyond that over subsequent seasons and became a layered, likeable and admirable character.
It's a shame he is gone and a shame that some people can't (or refuse to) see beyond the stereotype as that's only applicable at face value.
I'm sure they will be able to find a suitable voice actor for Apu. He is one of the best parts of the show and deserves better than to be pushed into the background.
there should be a villain reunion party episode that has all the old and new villains sharing a troublesome day together
I miss all of these characters, I wish for many of them to make a comeback especially Lucille and Ruth who could both make appearances again. Lucille could honestly come back in a tree house of horror and Ruth for another Marge episode. I love all these characters and I would love for everyone to come back into the spotlight
According to the Simpsons Mobile Game;Penelope actually left Krusty but she now works at Krustyland
They should make a Terri and Sheri episode. They are always there but never get storylines.
Practically every background student is there but never have a plot, like the kid who pukes a lot. How was his name?
@@MrMapacheumr I think it was Wendel or something.
Yeah, Wendell Borton.
@@MrMapacheumr Wendel
If Apu not in it nomore then I’m never watching Simpsons ever again
@@devindoughty6993 True
I know it’s not realistic, but I would love to see Dr Frink somehow bring Maude back to life and make the Flanders family whole again
Anything can happen.
This could be a good treehouse of horror segment. Even though they already did that with Frinks dad, they could still bring her back in the same way but she’s hellbent on revenge against Homer.
@@adambraun1990 so what happened in the end with Maude and Homer?
I remembered them saying that Maggie Roswell (who voiced Maude) found doing that voice for her straining, so they killed off Maude.
Great video! Definitely agree with you for most of the characters you listed. Keep up the great work!
Ooh- not a character as such but with Beatles: Get Back out on Disney + I think it would be good to have a parody with the Bee Sharps.
Yeah that should happen
It was stupid of them to retire Apu. They should bring him back.
Agreed!
Cecil did make a cameo in Bart's dream in the episode when he wanted a little brother, and the voice actor for Bob's father passed away not too long ago. However, I agree that it would be nice to at least get a little exposition on what happened to the rest of his family, including his nephew Neil.
The family is in jail
@@davidjones3165 that was in Funeral for a Fiend, and that was a long time ago. They need to give us an update on that.
A flashback episode about Marge’s father would be interesting
Now I agree with all of these especially the Baby sitter and Jessica Lovejoy. The Babysitter would have a great awesome come to the show, also Hank was also an awesome boss
Maybe Jessica’s parents sent her off to juvie at some point after the events of “Bart’s Girlfriend”, and “Lisa Gets Chunky” takes place shortly after she was released.
7: Mindy....she drinks heavily, lost her job, she lost everything, so probably moved somewhere, unless she died.
Simpsons is one of my favorite shows. The show isnt complete without these charatchers. Keep on the good work!!
*BART* We aren’t losers! *LISA* oh yeah you guys and BIG winners.. I would love to marry a big winner like you guys.. big winner..
Me and my friends have been watching the Simpsons for ages and the friends who was most saddened by Apu’s disappearance was the ones from south Asian background. Here is a quote from one of them “Wrong but funny representation is worse than no representation”
I aspire to be like Hank Scorpio, except I’m chaotic neutral
Best supervillain ever. MUCH better than Elon Musk. 'Musk', what kind of supervillain name is that?
Great video saw your post on Instagram
I always liked Homer's fembros like that blond one and Patty's gf. Plus I think it's important to show platonic relationships between different people in media, especially when most media is focused on a marriage relationship, which in real life, often doesn't last as long as platonic relationships.
At least Cecil had a nice comeback in the Simpsons Comic series. Him encountering Lisa and sharing the sorrows of the lesser noticed younger kid is just a great way of using character dynamics.
Hey, I remember that one!
Love your videos 😁
I don’t care how childish it is, I had a bit of a giggle when you said “I love apu” 😂😂😂
Thanks for watching Mia. I wish they used Colin more too. Maybe I'll do a video on him 🙂
Yay! You like actually just made my day being able to see that from you! Thanks so much!!! 😁😁😁
I’m with you on the Hank Scorpio thing, he was hilarious! I’d love to see him interact with burns, he’d be a great foil. The whole concept of someone who is very evil but treats his employees with high esteem is great. I realize now I just want more lawful evil characters… (yeah, he might be ruined by a second appearance but I love him)
Apu should voiced by the actor who plays raj from big bang theory
Kunal Nayyar, that would be a great voice for Apu.
G'day, I'm watching from Melbourne, Australia 🦘🇦🇺 😁👍
I ❤ The Simpsons, l've been watching them almost daily since 1991.
(Even if he had some more "stereotypical" things about him maybe)
1. EVERYONE in springfield is in one way or another a Stereotype.
2. He was still very likeable successfull and had deeper and fleshed out character.
3. Groundskeeper Willie is a even bigger and "worse" (not realy in my book) stereotpye but Scottish people love him.
Thats because Scotts hate other Scotts they ruined Scotland
Scott’s hate English, other Scott’s because they ruined Scotland! *skinner* : you sure do hate a lot of people… *Willie* : YOU JUST MADE A ENEMY FOR LIFE..
There are so many things that the Scottish have in common with us Irish folk!
Booze
Violence
Swearing
Red Hair
Anger
And an irrational hatred of everyone, including our own kind!
Apu is one of the most loved characters, bring him back.
This video is so true Good job keep up the great work and also how do you get season 33 and 32
I know he's not in the video, but maybe Colin from the movie, maybe Lisa could fall for him again.
Its sad how much they run out of ideas when they have a truckload of underused characters.
Same goes for Thomas The Tank Engine, and I was practically RAISED on that show!
Apu was so great he even got his own level in Simpsons Hit and Run.
That game needs a remaster, my old Gamecube just isn't working too well and I'm not seeing it on Steam
Keep it up on your work and this video and channel
I loved that they brought back Maya and Moe got his hopefully happy ending 🥰
1. Jesssica Lovejoy. She disappeared after she rode off with someone, hope nothing ugly happened there. I like to think that she has been sent away somewhere because of her behaviour.
I miss apu- hope he finally returns
brother from another series is one of my all time favorite episodes, used to watch frasier and simpsons as a kid growing up (weird, i know lol). so the crossover was and remains great to me
Apu was even a playable character in the Simpsons hit and run. The best Simpsons game ever!
Yeah. Allison Taylor resemble appearance to both Ruth Powers and Laura Powers.
AI did Apu dirty with the chapter creation 😭😂
Watch Hotdiggedydemon’s video on Apu, it perfectly incapsulates how I feel
Fun Fact: Ms. Botz was voiced by Penny Marshall of Laverne and Shirley. She played Laverne.
We needs ms botz back. She had alot of potential!, hopefully she can appear again as a main character for an episode
I would love to see one of these characters in a future episode!
Like...just because THAT guy saw Apu as nothing but an Indian stereotype doesn't mean everyone else did
I hope they replace the actor with an Indian actor.
I would love to see Herb Powell or Mindy Simmons again thanks covering them Lydia.
Ngl, I would buy the car Homer created
Cecil should definitely return, an episode should be the same plot on what happens in the comic between him and Lisa who became archenemies. (Like how Sideshow Bob and Bart and archenemies.)
Yeah, Cecil could be the Bob to Lisa’s Bart. Same goes for Frank Grimes Junior and Homer.
I think they should bring back Mr Snrub, he was an amazing 1-off
I have this theory that Snrub was actually Lenny all along
Care to elaborate?
10:18 this made my Yamato glow
I kinda hope Cecil comes back.I really liked his desigh. I liked his personality aswell.
I agree
Here is the list I want the Simpsons characters return to the future episodes of the Simpsons:
* Don Vittorio
* Apu
* Jimmy the Snitch
* Hank Scorpio
* Troy McClure
* Lionel Hutz
* Sideshow Bob's family
* Apu's family
* Mary Spuckler
Honestly, the only way I can see Lionel Hutz, or even Troy McClure, for that matter, is if Phil Hartman’s son takes up voicing them, and I’m not sure he’d be up for it, considering that he and his sister kept a low profile after their parents died.
I'd love to see Laura and Ruth Powers again
Me too
I miss Apu. I'm still salty towards everybody involved for that idiocy.
Hank scorpio is great, Mary Spuckler was perfect for bart after all she is the only girlfriend that return a few time, but apu he is and still is one of the best Character and citizen in Springfield.
Apu was one of the only few genuinely funny characters in the Simpsons. “Thank you come again”. Hope he can come again.
They could of used Jessica Lovejoy as a friend for Bart in order to bring the worst out in him.
Or a bully to him and Lisa.
@@ciarangleeson2880 Or that.
Sideshow Bob’s dad, Dr. Robert Terwillinger, should get a few episodes to clarify Bob’s madness and snobbery.
His dad’s voice actor died a few years ago i think
I think homers brother should come back poor and he has to stay at homers
and there would be like a sibling revelry
This video has aged really well. I still would love to see a lot of these characters again especially Apu and Ruth Powers. Ruth and Ned would be so cute together! This is without a doubt one of your best older videos! I stand with everyone who says Apu was never a racist character and what the network did with him was totally unfair!
Lucille could have been to Lisa what sideshow Bob is to bart
This is awesome
The baby sitter Bandit
Thanks you for your video and channel
