That mesh basket is a great idea! I usually presoak mine in a 5 gallon bucket, but there would be so much more room (and water) to pre soak with a basket in the tub. I did some searching for something similar, but couldn't find one that had mesh at the ends (just the long sides). Do you remember where you bought it?
I used my french knitter (wooden spool with small nails) to make icords when I was a child. We made them into oval or round rugs. Took a long time ... kept us out of trouble on rainy days.
I love to see you use the icord-maker. I'm a teacher, and last year in one of my classes, we made a wwhole lot of han crochet icords. When the icords were made we wove sittingmats out of them. I made special looms for them. I plan to show that in my nex podcast... hopefully during christmas and in Norwegian... The kids at 14 loved to do this 😁
I can't even express how much joy it brought to me to watch you learn to play with a new doodad!! No one understands the fiber artist new craft joy like another fiber artist!
I’ve always soaked my fleeces before scouring. It amazed me how much the fleece changed color s a result. Sometimes I did it before bringing them to the fiber mill for processing and they always appreciated it. Cool stuff.
back at the start of covid I made so much I-cord to be the laces of fabric masks - enough to use up all our cotton yarn, and we didn't have a real I-cord maker so it was just a plastic fork with the middle tines cut off lol
That i-cord maker definitely looks like fun! And the laundry bag looks like a really good idea, I suspect there are a lot of other possible applications.
Cats retract their claws (and unfortunately some of them are declawed but that's a battle for another day) so if I were to see those prints in the snow that's what I'd expect to have made them.
@@resourcedragon They do. What gets removed is the claw plus the bone right behind it. I don't explain things well, it's like the bone under our fingernails and if there was a claw growing out of the end of it instead of being on top of it. I'm probably still not explaining this properly, sorry! It almost looks like a normal paw and you wouldn't really notice it unless you were playing with the cat.
I like to use I cord as belts for things like bathrobes that have lost their belts. I also use some yarn I don't care about to make tug of war ropes for the dogs.
That i-cord maker looks like so much fun! It looks like a great fidget toy too since I love making i-cord or half i-cord and i find it relaxing. I think I'd be drowning in i-cord if I got one. 😂
The paws are definitely dog paws. Also, WOW I didn't know that there was such a tool. I recently make i-cord using knitting needles and made a two layer toque.
i got an i-cord maker that was on a little crank and i made some shoelaces with it, i also did soutache style decoration (like the military and court dress from the 1700s) on a knitted jumper instead of cables (i laid it in a pattern and sewed it down). I used yarn that matched the jumper exactly to make it all about the texture, but you could do similar things on other items/garments (it would look cute on a bag or coat maybe?)
I would use the cord to change out every item with a string! And the paws look like puppy paws to me Thanks for this video! I was cracking up. You’re awesome and now I need an I-cord maker too 😂😅
I love your sense of humor! You always make me smile 😊. I've thought about making my own icord maker with latch hooks from my local reuse shop and some clay.
I’m thinking mountain lion paws 😂 I love the icord maker! That would make a great stocking stuffer! I don’t know what I’d use icords for… but they sure would be fun to make and find a way to use the
Have you ever used a lucet? It's a little like the icord tool, but with only two ears and no latch-hooks, but you can make really tight cord that's great for shoe/clothing laces or clothesline or whatever
I would do a lot of things with this fun little tool! Seems difficult here to get a hold of one though… 🧐 The paws… something in the cat family, I think. 🐈
I haven't quite figured out how to best wash my fleeces, but I did get a "Strucket". I was planning on washing them in bits and pieces (versus an entire fleece). Don't know though, if I can wash any when it's -30°C outside... even carrying smaller amounts/buckets of lanolin-filled water to dump outside is daunting when it's cold! 🥶
Well you could take all that Icord and make it into a brain hat. I'm planning on doing an Icord edging on a tank top I'm working on. I wonder if you could attach Icord edging using this tool if you hook your project around one of the hooks
If you do end up with a bunch of icord everywhere you could make a rug out of them. Coil the cord and sew where it touches? I'm not explaining real well, but I hope you understand what I mean lol. Could even make baskets or hats like that I bet. I don't think the paw would be a bear's as they're shaped a little different but I liked someone else's comment about Santa paws 😂 adorable.
Norman of the Nimble Needles channel did a review on making an i-cord maker, so, if you can get the latch hooks at a craft store, you can go from there. Alternatively, try googling "i-cord maker".
I think I am an outlier. I like the smell of raw wool. It just so happens that I don't have to skirt my own wool so there's no excess of urine and feces. (Just a little.) However, I use power scour or kookaburra wool wash (after using dish soap for the pre-soak). So no strange smells for me, or so I think. All three have floral scents anyway.
1. has to be a cat as they have retractable claws and dogs and bears dont. 2. i use feltable wool I-cords to put hanger corner loops on hand towels as my children, who technically are adults, still cannot figure out how to hang up a hand towel 3. how many soaks until that water was clean?
At this time of year they are santa paws! 😂

you could make those cute i-cord names with bendable wire for decoration!

Also the stitch markers are the paw prints of the ever elusive Snipe Hunting Tree Cat
Make alllll the I-cords then knit, crochet, or weave with them! 🤩

I bought an i-cord maker at Alabama Fiber Fest and look forward to your demo!
Oh yay! You’re doing it now!
That i-cord maker definitely looks like fun!
And the laundry bag looks like a really good idea, I suspect there are a lot of other possible applications.
I made my own i-cord tools before they became widely available and they are SO much fun 🤩
ooooh, made your own? I'd love to see that
Yes! Coolest icord maker ever and so fast!❤
I've used I-cord for amigurumi arms and legs. I also used knotted I-cord for buttons on a toddler jacket.
I made a huge circular rug from plaited i-cord 😁

Do declawed cats still have toe-beans? (I'm in Australia and I don't think declawing cats has ever been legal here.)

For the I-cord, I would make a brain stocking cap for next Halloween! 🧠

Probably cat prints since it doesn’t seem to have any claws and cats have retractable claws while most other animals don’t?
You could get your family to pick floof for you for next year's advent calendar you make, that way you truly don't know what's in it

The more dirty the fleece at wash time means the sheep were more free to roam. I hate knowing some are kept pinned up just for a cleaner fleece.
I'm very sure this sheep had good pasture. The low VM means grazing on pasture. 😊
Kitty paws!
Cat , dog, and wrap the Christmas packages like a ribbon.

I need an Eye cord maker now thanks Eve 😂❤
Knit little sweaters for cut flowers!

Looks like puppy paws and the I cord I don't know 😊😊😊❤❤❤❤

Could use I-cord with a peg loom! I just finished a small cat bed/rug that I made long crochet chains to weave with. This would be even plushier.
Fun episode 😊
That was the most realistic reenactment ever recorded. 😅
I recently saw a pin loom weaving designer use icord with a large gauge pin loom. I want one of those icord makers now lol
If you have enough creepy Christmas fabric which my daughter would LOVE, you could applique the numbers on the pouches.
Hi! Do you think a mesh beach bag could work like your soaking basket?
I would do a lot of things with this fun little tool! Seems difficult here to get a hold of one though… 🧐
The paws… something in the cat family, I think. 🐈
I cant believe that was a reenactment. 😂
So realistic 😅

It really is! Our weather is chaos, going from -11 to 58 F in a week. I'm hoping to grab a warmer day to get it done but who knows.

The brain hat pattern is in the Power of Knitting book I got at the thrift book store!
@@JillianEve You know you want a brain hat.

How can I get that device to make icords?

Where did that laundry basket come from/where do I get one?
Do you have a link for the laundry basket?
Puppy prints.
I-cord edging on everything.
Where to buy that laundry basket??
I want to know, too!!!

Quiet clap...
for the acting and the I cord!
I hope you're aware that you're the cutest little awkward weirdo ever Also, those are kitty paws, because for me, pupper paws have bigger toebeans
Didn't engineering knits make a video about vintage patterns made from i-cords including slippers and hats and stuff? 🤔
