Billy fuckin' Gould. Guy is my favorite bassist and it's not even close. So good. He's the most underrated bassist in music imo.
He's the single most underrated, absolutely. Absolute machine. I always recommend "A Small Victory" live at MTV 1992 to anyone who disagrees. He slays it every time.
@@yakzilla3086 gonna go check that now. Guy is a monster.
Get the guantanamo school of medicine. With jello biafra. He lays some great bass lines.
Pretty sad the chili peppers went out of their way to bury faith no more/Bungle because they knew they would get blown away by them
Yep, Gould is GOAT.
One of the greatest albums ever. Every damn song is perfect.
It was the perfect tour too !! 30 years .. wow
Patton is so damn versatile. No one sounds like him.
Exactly I feel like the Incubus guy is heavily influenced by Mike
one band from UK who can't really talk about sounded quite a bit like Patton's vocals but a more nu metal sound
Chris Cornell,Layne Staley
@@bihariistvan4921 ... both amazing singers and I love their vocals, but no... they don't sound like Patton. Just like neither of them sounds like each other. They're all uniquely amazing.
@@MortalDeathGaming is It Lostprophets??
Great choice. Angel Dust is a masterpiece. "Malpractice" influenced a lot of 90s/2000s bands and I definitely would recommend Kindergarten for a reaction. Would be a totally different vibe from what you're used to.
I’d love to see him react to Everything’s Ruined or Crack Hitler 🤘🏻
Absolutely agree. A top 5 album for me personally since its release. Why not do the whole album! I'd love to hear the reaction to RV
100%. And not shown the respect it deserves either
Malpractice, Jizzlobber and Caffeine are what influenced most 90s and 2000s stuff in my opinion. Also Cuckoo, I Won't Forget You and Ugly in the Morning too
Finally seeing someone else giving Kindergarten some love!
Pretty much any track on this album is worth a deep dive. It’s still a revelation all these years later.
First time I heard it I was a bit confused and disappointed by it. It felt very different from The Real Thing but after a couple of listens I was obsessed. You're right, every single song is like a world unto itself. At one point I had Caffeine running around my head for days straight. I just could NOT get it out of my head!
One of the most underrated albums in Rock history...
My favorite track has always been Smaller and Smaller. Still sounds ahead of its time
You ain't fuckin' kidding! I'll be 52 next month and this album is still one of my all time favorites. 32 years later, I'm still drawn back to it all the time. It's been called one of the most influential rock/metal albums of all time. A friggin' masterpiece as far as I'm concerned.
A bit of backstory behind this song: Jim Martin had stopped answering calls from the band and not really wanting to take part in as much of the songwriting for this album. It resulted in a bit of an elaborate plot to force Jim back into working. Mike wrote this song after a sleep deprivation experiment where he would take a shower, make breakfast and drink coffee in the middle of the night right before bed time and trick his body into staying awake. These lyrics are the result of extreme sleep deprivation hallucinations and loosely based on issues the band was having with Jim Martin.
Wow, i never knew that. Thanks!
They played the song live in 1991 before the Angel Dust sessions so this isn’t wholly accurate.
Saw somewhere he was kinda perturbed because the music they were writing for this album didn't leave much room for him to play.
@@computerfile Sometimes that's how it be in bands. If you've been in a band for a long time, you need to set aside your ego for the arrangements.
@@computerfile the mtv interview with all of the studio footage has him openly calling the stuff they were doing "Circus music" (it kind of is at times).
Kindergarten off of this album is a masterpiece. Great jam.
Born late, will i graduate ? 😃
Finally I found somebody who also like this song. MAN, IT REALLY IS A MASTERPIECE! Thanks, cheers.
Kingdom kindergarten
Love Faith No More ❣️ Angel Dust is a masterpiece 🔥 caffeine is amazing 😍
Couldn't agree more. Caffeine is my favorite FNM song.
YYYAAAASSSS FAITH NO MORE!!!!!!! All-time favorite band. Ever. Period.
Same here
Same here! I've been waiting for this on this channel.
They are.
FNM fans unite!
Get the MOTHERFUCKERS on the phone......... 🤘🤘🏿🤘🏼
Angel Dust is one of my favourite albums of all time, so many fantastic tracks and then fun silly bits, I absolutely love Midlife Crisis, but nothing on the album ever gets skipped over
Best album ever.i can not escape it.everytime is awesome
Love FNM , they were so ahead of their time , "malpractice" is another killer on this album
'Smaller and Smaller' is so great too. That and 'Malpractice' are such interesting tracks that stand out as challenging archetypes of the album but in very different ways.
My favorite is what I consider the Angel Dust trilogy: Caffeine, Malpractice & Jizzlober. That last one being one my favorite FNM tracks of all time.
The live version they did on mtv is superb. Patton is the man.
I set my vcr to record that episode.
Faith No More have a full time keyboard player (and one of the main song writers) Roddy Bottum.
I'm now officially counting how many FNM videos it takes him to figure out that Mike is also Mr Bungles vocalist... unless he does already know lmao. He even mentions Mr Bungle in this video but I still can't be sure if he knows or not?! 😂
The Air-conditioned nightmare and Retrovertigo vocal lines 😍☺
@@mrtricksterofficial Retrovertigo is a top 3 Bungle song for me! His voice is just incredible!
Till then we wait.....but it will be a great day🤟
Goodbye Sober Day and Merry Go Bye Bye are essential Bungle!
Goodbye Sober Day. Great song to put on the jukebox in a mediocre bar.
Definitely still here, my friend...
This record was one of the most confounding major-label releases of at least the nineties, and perhaps all time. Just a delightful mishmash of styles and tempos, delivered with the perfect amount of insanity.
These guys use more than pads. They have a genuine, dedicated keyboardist -- Roddy Bottum. Oh, and the dude responsible for those delicious, goober-worthy bass grooves is Billy Gould. He wrote the tune alongside the inimitable Mike Patton.
Another killer choice off this album is 'Everything's Ruined,' and everyone seems to want to cover 'Midlife Crisis.'
A lot of people don't know that Billy and Roddy actually write 98.9% of all of Faith No More's music. Including the drum and guitar parts
Nah blood sugar sex magick
@@rdubya4911 Shit band.
FNM are such a clever band. They're all really accomplished musicians, topped off by the most versatile singer/songwriter around today.. Great video and reaction. 👍
Billy Gould & Roddy Bottum rock this whole album like gangsters. Puffy too. My favorite album & my favorite tee shirt. I love the looks I get when I wear it. Geebz you should do Jizzlobber, maybe one of the heaviest things ever created. 🔥
This takes me back to a great time in my late teens/early 20s. This and " Smaller And Smaller And Smaller" are my fav tracks on this album. Groundbreaking album and band. Alt metal pioneers which yes influenced nu metal.
Faith No More don’t know how to do a bad album. Brilliant band with every album different. Grew up with them as a teen & were huge in my early music influences. Still love them today.
Super stoked to see you digging your teeth into FNM, these guys were about a decade and a half ahead of their time.
So happy to see you getting into Faith. Great video. Would love to see you tackle Cone of Shame, Matador, Everything's Ruined, Jizzlobber, Ugly in the Morning, Stripsearch, Just A Man, or The Gentle Art of Making Enemies
Jizzlobber is probably the heaviest thing they've done and the ending is masterful. Although I really want to see the reaction to Malpractice
And ‘Mouth to Mouth”
Good choices plus Last Cup of Sorrow, Digging the Grave, Surprise! Your Dead!... and we could go on...
And no one mentions Smaller and Smaller... One of their best to me.
@@nicktreleaven4119 "Cuckoo for Caca" is right up there as one of their heaviest too.
You mentioned pads. They have a keyboard player as a main member.
So many great faith no more tracks with lots of different feels and vibes.
I'd like to recommend their track Evidence. Has a lovely smokey lounge vibe.
King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime is such an underrated gem from them. So many killer tracks... Evidence, Ricochet, The Gentle Art of Making Enemies, King For A Day, Digging The Grave. But it's oftentimes considered one of their lesser albums, maybe because the bar was set so high.
@@bink I agree 100%
Caffeine is about speed. "It's not fun anymore. It's the thing you hate the most".
Angel Dust is Phenomenal. It's crazy that an album that sounded like this was released under a major record label as a follow up to a highly successful album. There are plenty of good songs to pull from it if you ever do anymore FNM stuff. I also suggest The Gentle Art of Making Enemies or I Won't Forget You off of their next album King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime, which is just as good as Angel Dust imo.
aahhh Gentle Art of Making Enemies
From what I read the studio that signed their original contract wasn't so happy with this one. They wanted another like the first ..... the quote I heard was something like never has there been a band to make a second album so designed to NOT make the charts.
Two edged sword though. In the US (music industry grind mill that Prince et al were also battling with) FNM / Mike Patton faded out of popularity as no top singles to play all the time. BUT their unwillingness to buy into the "machine" also gave us the creative incredible songs we now have. I had to figure all of this out as I am in the US and of an age that was in my prime when these guys started. Could not understand why I had not heard of them and more over had not heard of Mike Patton. Seems a lot was that they went where they were appreciated and adored by most. South America.
Crack Hitler by Faith No More really showcases the bass firsthand.
The entire album is worth a review...no duds
"The Last To Know" and "Just A Man".
Best Faith No More album. My favourite song off this album to boot.
Thanks for doing this one.
I'd love to see a reaction to Faith No More's 'The Real Thing' from the album of the same name. That song is an 8 minute masterpiece with so many twist, turns and tonal shifts. I reckon our man Geebz will love it! :-)
Billy Gould is a phenomenal bass player.
Far better than the insect named one from another band.
FAITH NO MORE LESSSS GOOOOO!!!
Definitely do Evidence Geebz.
Gonna blow your mind fo sho ;)
Arguably the best song on one of the best albums ever made, ever.
The lyrics are phenomenal - Pattons fingerprints all over that one....
Superb, favourite album of all time. You can't go wrong with some Faith No More. You should check out their live performances, especially to hear Mikes voice raw.
Oh yeahhhhhhhh FNM is absolutely amazing and my absolute favorite!!
You can never go wrong with any of their tunes!!!
I suggest watching the BBC studio one sessions from 2015... its about 20 minutes long and has multiple songs. But the sound quality is astounding!!!
Angel Dust... best album of the 90's. Favorite FNM song... each member throws down. Patton's vocals on a different level.
Salute from greece!! Give us more faith no more.. Best vocalist ever
Great choice mr. Geebz...in fact..."Angel Dust" is one of the very best albums of the early nineties...worthy of a full album review!!!!
One of if not the best album of all time for me not just the early 90s
@@sethgibson7794 I understand of course...I am a huge fan also...but best album of all time?
A full album review of Angel Dust would be perfect because it varies from alternative metal to rock ballad.
@@pauljansen1137 I like it more than any other album so for me yes
@@sethgibson7794 👍
Amazing band, amazing album, simply incredible front man (best ever for my money). Sad to know he is struggling at the moment. Hope he gets better soon.
Brings back great memories of Angel Dust concert here in Adelaide ....Mike Patton was like a crazed beast, writhing, twisting and screaming all over the stage. What a blast, I’m still in awe some three decades later.
Fun fact I learned the other day. Mike Patton did the darkwalkers' "monster voices" in the movie "I am Legend."
Still here and loving it!
I get the feeling you don't know about the Mr Bungle connection despite mentioning Mr Bungle during the video. You seem to be the rare example of someone discovering Mr Bungle before FNM, love it!
One of the best albums ever made!
I'm still here, man! Carefull with the coffee! Awwright!
One of my favorite bands, all time, and probably one of my favorite songs by them, so nice choice! I've gotten many a people I know hooked on these guys, and I recommend them to anyone that hasn't discovered them yet.
This is my favorite Faith no more song!
I'm still here! This is a walk down memory lane...great band! Thanks!
Nice reaction, Mr. Geebz, thank you!
I would suggest "King For A Day" for some groovy bass lines. One of FNM's best songs IMHO.
W
So awesome! This was my first faith no more album, can still remember hearing it for the first time, and having my mind blown 😁
Wooo finally Angel Dust. Only one of the best albums ever made!
Angel Dust.....my quintessential 90's metal album....and top 3 all-time. Caffeine is cranked to 11 every time I hear it.....and thank you for reviewing it!!!! You totally made my day!!!!!!!
King for a day is great too
I'm still here! Be Aggressive would be a great song from this album to react to. I think it might be my favourite one on Angel Dust.
Please do "King for a Day"
One of a kind, not many bands can you describe a song and say it is beautiful and ugly at the same time, they are a hidden treasure in music and will reward greatly for those who can digest, good stuff🍻
There are some bonkers live performances out there of this one. Like most FNM songs you don’t necessarily get a feel for how freaking heavy, tight and powerful they are until you see them play live. The sheer adrenaline factor is a bit removed from their recordings. Still, great song, great album.
Holy crap you're not kidding brother. Based on your comment I went and looked some up. The band is beyond tight on this song even with all of its tempo shifts and going from loud to quiet in a second and vice versa. And Mike Patton is just ... Well he's doing usual Mike Patton-y things.
And that's the story on how I ended up with a great new "Faith No More Live" RUclips playlist👍
Great song, still holds up today. Always felt something was off in the intro rhythm (in a good poly rhythmic'ish way... sorta). Now that you mentioned the drums in 6/8 that emphasizes the four (ONE, two, three, FOUR, five, six). and the guitars in 3/4 everything makes sense now. Coolness Geebz!
YOU HAVE TO DO - FAITH NO MORE. KING FOR A DAY. unbelievable bass...
Still here!!
also it seems either no one has mentioned, or you haven't seen BUT there is a direct connection between Faith No More and Mr Bungle... and yeah both had big influence on many artists from early-mid 90's onwards
My fave FNM song!
Greeting From France, Faith No More is my favourite band since 1990 ! Angeldust is my favourite album ! nice to see a FNM reaction :)
have a great day / night :)
Hello from Denver Colorado... I love that FNM has so many fans outside of America. I believe they have a bigger fan base over seas.
@@hunglikeahorse---fly the most funny : I 've discovered FNM in your beautiful state. My grand mother lived there in Lakewood, I was in hollyday in 1990. Epic : was my first song... I fell in love with the band, since.
@@angeldustavignon3717 that's awesome you've been here... it is a beautiful place and even more beautiful that I got to see FNM 2015 at Red Rocks Amphitheater not too far from lakewood.
Same singer for both bands, Faith No More and Mr Bungle 👍🏻
I'm still here, and always here for FNM!! Want some more base?! "Ashes to Ashes" is chunky. "Gentle Art of Making Enemies" and "The Real Thing" will bring you back to the heavy. And check out "Easy" to round it all home 🤙
Faith No More are so unique, ahead of their time. Still, I like the King for a Day… Fool for a Lifetime album a little bit better than Angel Dust. Ricochet, Evidence, Take This Bottle, Just a Man, incredible tunes.
Angel Dust changed Music forever.
Let's gooo. One of the best albums of all time. I know Mike Patton has been touched on here but I hope faith becomes a fixture on this channel for the future.
Oops. One of those futures is supposed to be the word staple lol
Still here! That was fun. Thanks Geebz!
I saw Faith no more and pressed like without watching it yet 😁. Excellent choice Geebz ! Have a good one 🏄♂️
Coming back to this video a year later because I'm still hooked on this song and need to see others react to it 😂
Great stuff! More Faith No More!
Faith No More is awesome! Everything on this album and before is fire!
I'm sill here!
YES! Such an influential album! Bands like Deftones & INCUBUS got their sound thanks to this album! They have said so, no speculating required! One of my favorite albums ever, please do Everything's Ruined next! 😁
Most Excellent Album 💯🤘.. every song is on my playlist
Huge Faith No More fan here. You can take quite a journey listening. You should also check out Mike Patton's many other projects. Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Lovage, Fantomas, and so on and on.....
Oh man!!! This is great!!
I'm still here.
I'm definitely here for any FNM reaction/ breakdown...or anything with Mike Patton for that matter.
Think this was the first CD i ever bought, still listening to it from time to time. Great album
jaja... my first CD too... 1992
1992 was a phenomenal year for rock releases...
REM - Automatic for the People
Sonic Youth - Dirty
Beastie Boys - Check your head
Pantera - Vulgar Display of power
The Cure - Wish
STP - Core
Megadeth - Countdown to extinction
Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark
Alice in Chains - Dirt
White Zombie - La Sexorcisto
But Angel Dust was by far and large the most influential, original, and lasting of all.
It doesn’t get better than this, Geebz!!!
Still here, Geebz. I love to hear your take on things.
I wanted to point out, there's a couple of sounds in this song, like a high pitched squeal. Pretty sure you noticed one right when that awesome bass breakdown started. Those sounds are most certainly Mike Patton, who I'm sure you know who he is by now.
I'd love to see you check out his solo album Adult Themes For Voice. Totally out of this world.
Keep up the good work, my friend!
OOOOOHHHH world's strongest coffee! Bet you're going to be up all night haha. Thanks for these videos, so engaging and educational on how songs get put together.
I forgot how Gdamn good this song and the entire album is. Thanks for reminding me it's about to get back into heavy rotation for me :-)
92-95 this was my drive home cd. Bay Area got home fast. Best driving album ever.
Still here, nice to hear your perspective; I can't explain music, I just knows what I like and I likes Faith No More since Epic was released!!💯
My favorite FNM song
Oh my, Y'all.. Mike Bordin is is one of the most underrated drummers EVER. Hardly mention of his mastery.
A deeper dive, Mike Patton-MondoCane.
I love your warning about being able to over-analyze music. I remember telling a friend when I started really getting into art galleries and museums, that I didn’t want to learn too much about art, as I wanted to be able to see it blind. Get lost in imagining how it was all made.
They are like NIN or Depeche Mode were that bass and synth secretly is the glue that holds the songs. Great and amazing band
Greatest band to ever do it.
Masterpiece album
The song Kindergarten from this album is one of my all-time favorites from FNM
It's me again friend. Here to do my daily request of Dog Fashion Disco. A band described as System of a Down and Mr. Bungle/ Faith No More. As I have said before I'm disabled and unable to do the pay to play thing. I'm on a fixed income. I was so happy to see you to be the first person to really react to Dog Fashion Disco. It was awesome to see my favorite reactor react to my favorite band. A member of the actual band put your rection up on his FB channel. That was a song from the early 2000's. I would love to see you react to the new single just released a couple of weeks ago from their new upcoming album release. I'd love to see you react to the genre blending in this new single and I think the band would love it as well. You are highly respected in the reaction community. You are someone who really knows his shit when it comes to the music and you break it down like no other. I'll leave the link below. I hope these come off more charming than annoying because I love this channel. Aloha!!

I'm still here. Faith No More have so many different varied styles of music, even within each album, but I would use this song as a reference if I had to choose just one. Great choice!

You won’t be disappointed at all if you listen to the real thing by faith no more.
You can't lose "Jizzlobber", one of the most radical songs from FNM!
Still here ....
FNM was one of the bands that started my metal listening journey!! One I'm still on, and enjoying with you.
Angel Dust is my go to work out album. Cheers
Geebz doing my favourite band??? 👀👀 The thing with faith no more is only a few of their other songs sound like this, they have songs from so many genres you need to listen to loads of songs to get the whole range of it.
Faith No More is a band for which a full album review would work better I think, because of their eclectic material.
I love how all thier songs sound so unique on every album.
This song is one of 2 that Patton wrote as an experiment. He wrote them after enduring 48 hours of sleep deprivation. I’m still here
As someone else suggested, "The Gentle Art of Making Enemies" would be a great follow-up reaction. From the following album, which was much more raw, production wise. Would be a good contrast.
Angel Dust is one of the greatest all time albums though, worthy of a full review.
