    You know, Malak is the only sith lord I know who died a sith lord but accepted both his fate and understood he was responsible for his actions. It was also a bit saddening to see them talking about their past, I mean, there was a time Malak would've followed Revan anywhere, they used to be the best of friends. What I like is how in the end, instead of Malak stating his eternal hatred to Revan like Vader did to Kenobi, he accepted his fate and stated that in the end, as the dark side consumed him, he was no Sith Master or galactic lord, he was just another victim of the dark side's shadow.

    • @pennclick
      @pennclick 7 лет назад +35

      Shadow Warrior I think it's especially important that he did respond that way considering how polarized Revan's ultimate eventualities become. Whether you watch yourself fall to the dark side all over again or redeem yourself in the light, Malak has already made his decisions and in the end accepts them as you do.

      Malak may be compelling in his final moments, but like many other fallen Jedi, he died a Sith. Vader was only redeemed moments before he died, but Revan lived to be redeemed for months, and even after he was captured by Vitiate, he remained mostly on the Light Side for three freaking centuries. Revan is the superior character. That's why I love KotOR.

    Haha, you know what I did? I didn't have master flurry or any other really effective lightsaber moves. So, after destroying all the chambers, I used a speed booster and ran away. When I was far enough away, I started placing plasma and frag mines. I'd collected tons of them throughout the game, so I put them EVERYWHERE and made Malak chase me through them. BOOM! I hardly touched him with my lightsaber, lol!

I used destroy droid to take away his batteries, ran around for a bit so that he'd drain all of his force points up renewing his force resistance, then blasted him repeatedly with Force Wave. Poor guy couldn't seem to stay on his feet more than three seconds before I blasted him back down.

    "And once you are beaten I will d the same to you. You will be trapped in a terrible existence between life and death, your power feeding me as I conquer the galaxy!"That line from Malak gives me chills, now that we know what happens to Revan. Fucking Bioware planned this all from the start with him, didn't they?

    • @juanlaise1059
      @juanlaise1059 7 лет назад +9

      Sanguiluna
      No they didn't. Kotor and Kotor 2 hinted a war with the true Sith. Beings similar to Nihilus, who could shape the galaxy at will. Instead, we got TOR when they decided to do an MMO, screwing over the franchise.

    • @Sanguiluna
      @Sanguiluna 7 лет назад +4

      That would've been fucking terrible if the "True Sith" were just copycats of a character introduced in KOTOR 2. At least connecting it to the original Sith Empire of the Tales of the Jedi series connects Bioware's storyline with the overall Star Wars lore instead of just feeling like an isolated bubble.

    • @juanlaise1059
      @juanlaise1059 7 лет назад +5

      Sanguiluna
      I said similar, not the same. Vitiate is quite similar to Nihilus, a being that wants to devour all life in the galaxy.Do you dislike that?
      In words of Chris Avellone"The True Sith were being that could shape the entire galaxy.Revan and the exile would have to fight them and that would have been explored in Kotor 3".
      For me, instead of Palpatine 2.0 , it would have been interesting to see a full galactic war against them, similarly to Mass Effect(I suspect that one of the reasons why they didn't went with this storyline it's because they made Mass Effect)

    • @Sanguiluna
      @Sanguiluna 7 лет назад

      Vitiate works because there's only one of him. And Chris Avellone's opinion doesn't really count for anything since Lucasarts were ultimately in charge of the lore-- the Sith as a concept are kind of beyond his limited understanding of them. You want to know more about what the Sith are really supposed to be about, Drew Karpyshyn or James Luceno are by far more reliable sources.

    • @juanlaise1059
      @juanlaise1059 7 лет назад +4

      Sanguiluna
      Sure, sure. Kotor 2 has one of the best writing of star wars, in contrast to TOR shitty writing. Every hint from Kotor 2 pointed to a far more ambitious story than the one we got.
      The way Bioware butchered the Exile and Revan is unforgivable. Revan was brainwashed instead of becoming the Dark Lord of his own free will. And the Exile, basically the death of the Force, was lowered to a Revan fangirl instead of following her own path. The Mandalorian army, the HK factory, the new jedi order, the alliances Revan was making, all of that went nowhere.The war of belief, the ways to manipulate force bonds to turn oponents to your side. No, Bioware lost their touch at crafting stories.

    For many people, defeating Malak seems very difficult, but having beat him so many times with ease, here are a few tips and tricks:
    - Immediately after talking with Malak, go to the menu screen and equip the Verpine shield and all three of the Hyper Adrenal stimulants (Strength, Alacrity and Stamina). You want to have these equipped at all times, so be sure to stock up on them beforehand.
    - Similairly, if you get hit, you can go to the menu item screen and use a Life Support Pack to heal instead of using one in combat.
    - Make sure to equip the Electrical Capacitance Shield (from Kashyyyk) and either the Retinal Combat Implant (if you have the Implant Level 2 feat) or the Bothan Sensory Visor. The former will provide some protection against Force Lightning and the latter two will negate Malak's critical hits.
    - Master Speed and the Master Toughness feat are an absolute must in KOTOR.
    For the second phase:
    - It really helps if you have either the Drain Life or at least Disable Droid. You can destroy the Jedi pods around the area quickly. If not, repeat the above points and never forget to heal when needed.

    Revan: I have failed you, Malak. I have failed you.
    Malak: I should have known the Jedi would spare you!
    Revan: You spared Bastila. That is proof that the Sith are weak as well as that they are evil!
    Malak: From my point of view, the Jedi are evil!
    Revan: Well then you are lost!
    Malak: This is the end for you, my Master.
    Revan: (jumps over Malak) It's over, Malak! I have the high ground!
    Malak: You underestimate my power!
    Revan: Don't try it. (Malak jumps over, but Revan turns around and stabs him)
    Malak: Im... impossible! I... I cannot be beaten! I am the Dark Lord of the Sith!
    Revan: This is the way of the Dark Side, Malak. All things end in death. The power of the Light will always be stronger than the Dark Side.
    Malak: Still... still spouting the wisdom of the Jedi, I see. Maybe there is more truth than I had ever believed. I... I cannot help but wonder Revan, what would have happened had our positions been reversed? What if fate had decreed I would be captured by the Jedi? Could I have returned to the Light, as you did? If you had not led me down the Dark Path in the first place, what destiny would I have found?
    Revan: I am sorry I started you on this path. But you chose to continue down it. You cannot blame me for that decision.
    Malak: I suppose... I suppose you speak the truth. I alone must accept responsibility for my fate. I wanted to be Master of the Sith and Ruler of the Galaxy. But that destiny was not mine, Revan. It might have been yours, perhaps... but never mine. And in the end, as the darkness takes me, I am nothing. (Dies)

    Oh man, KOTOR was my first RPG, and I was new to this whole concept of building my character with the right stats or whatever. After one exchange or so, I must've realized that this was NOT going to work like in the movies. But I HAD hoarded a ridiculous amount of grenades, mines, thermal detonators, and life support packs/health packs (I think my grenade count ran to the 80s or something). So I ran away and basically subjected him to an extended bombardment in single combat, ending up with some chain like adhesive/CryBan grenade, frag grenade, frag grenade, and thermal detonator that I'd just rinse and repeat. Not very dramatic, but it got the job done for a newb. :D

    I beat him yesterday for the first time. Korriban was my last planet before the Unkown World. I had medpacks but I used a lot on the Unkown world. Korriban-there's like no where to buy medical stuff there (that or I totally missed it) so by the time I got to Malak I had:3 life support packs5 advanced medpacks 10 regular medpacks
    And that's all. Not a lot considering I used WAY more than that for the Jedi and Sith I fought on my way there. I didn't have force speed either, or force wave. My trick? I drained the life from all the Jedi tanks (Malak got to one but I drained all the others before he could) I set one deadly plasma mine and used a speed stim. He got hit by it and that took some health, then I ran far enough away and kept throwing advanced lightsaber at him. It took a nice chunk of Heath everytime so he was dead pretty fast. I used a total of 3 LS packs, and 2 AM.

    His greatest achievement was the utter defeat of clan Fett at the hands of his Jedi crusaders. He beat them so badly that their leader - the feared Cassus Fett - fled from battle never to be seen again.

    Just finished my first playthrough as a Ligh Side Scoundrel/Consular (for that sweet sweet persuasion, gotta save Bastila) and this fight was EPIC. I only had basic critical strike and my character wasn't very strong with a lightsaber, but I had maxed out force speed, destroy droid, stasis field, lightsaber throw and force valour. Once I heard the music in the chamber before the dialogue I knew this was it and activated my Mandalorian shields and pumped myself with adrenaline like an addict. Once I realized I could destroy the Jedi stasis I used the force to destroy them, and finally, both combining grenades, force powers and lightsaber combat with stat-boosting I took him down.
    It was the most epic boss fight I have ever fought in any game, and I'm glad I didn't invest a lot into lightsaber combat: it would have made the whole ordeal easier, but I loved the challenge and how I was forced to use several elements of the game.

    I always see people talking about how difficult he was to beat. The first time I managed to even come face to face with him, I got him down to that last bit of health (without much struggle) that triggers the cut scene of him force draining his way back to full health. I was clean out of med packs and stimulants, had no means of destroying the imprisoned jedi and had very poorly distributed feats and stats. Because of that, it was absolutely impossible for me to defeat him, I did the exact opposite of what’s needed to defeat him.
    In hindsight, as a final boss, he’s unbelievably easy to defeat. And even now, I can let him drain the life from all of the fallen jedi and a still beat him with relative ease. Fighting through the star forge to get to him is what the real challenge is.

    LOL. Malak was NEVER stronger than Revan. Revan would always wipe the floor with him in a one on one up close and personal. All Malak does is blow his load from a bridge countless miles away.

    This game just turned garbage in these last moments with the infinite Spam spawning Really ruins the game that you sit here and make your whole play through never having to heal never using any of these resources and now because of the final infinite spawns your force to just exhaust a whole play through's worth of resources because the game just spawns 5 on 1 Faster than you can even fight the people there's another 5 guys around the corner but time you leave and killed one person it's not even good writing
