I just bought a 2002 Chevy Astro van off marketplace and it looks EXACTLY like yours, same color and everything! Very comforting to see someone convert a van similar to mine! I just ripped out the nasty carpet and I'm super excited to start building!
I picked up the same van in a walmart parking lot for 1250 I've been driving it it for over a year and still love it! It's awesome seeing you get the same van and turning it into a camper! Nice work!!
that's rad! I bought the van (well the shell atleast) for $1200! then I spend a few thousand converting it and getting all the necessary repairs. that's awesome, glad you love it
Good stuff man! I actually just started my conversion. Bought mine for $500, but it needs A LOT of work. Luckily, thats what i do on my channel. Safe trip you two!
I have the same exact van, paid a little over twice as much as you guys but she’s solid! I’m starting gutting tomorrow 😳😆 My name is Bree as well so that’s cool! Nice van!
i just got a Astro for 600 with a 100,000 miles on it and nothing wrong it was found on facebook marketplace as well. its a cargo too so no gutting or seat removal.
thanks so much! It's a mixture of a handful of cameras as we filmed over many months- Sony A7III, GoPro Hero 8, Iphone 11 pro, and the DJI Osmo Action! And editing Premiere Pro
I may have missed it, how many miles did you buy it with?? I see one now on Craigslist for $4,000 with 84,000 miles but I’m thinking maybe I should hold out now!! Lol
" I don't understand anything about Cars" That will either change, OR ... You have VERY deep pockets lol. These vans... Especially the All Wheel version... Have aged and everything will need replacing at some point moving forward. It's NOT A knock on the Venerable Astro...they're awesome vans... It's that ALL vehicles go through this as they pass the 20 years old marker. How do I know this? I JUST experienced it. The list of parts replaced/services performed is LOOOONG! Luckily, I'm good with a wrench and did it all myself. If not, the costs would have been about $3k-$4k and FAR outweighed the purchase price of the van. I'm NOT trying to scare anyone, but rather inform folks that the cost of getting into "Van Life" is only just beginning when you lay down your hard earned duckets at time of purchase. And I'm not even mentioning the cost of converting it into a Camper... That's a completely different story! 😉
That's not enough headroom....if I can't sit up on the bed, I'd feel like I was sleeping in a coffin. I would still have some storage under the bed, just not that high.
We weren’t actually, they were in such bad shape and getting them out was a very hard task in itself. Don’t think they were touched in 20 years. Rusted and pretty gnarly, so we ended up just having to toss them

Great to hear! It's an awesome van that can put on some serious miles, so funny you have the same. It's going to be amazing!
The curtains bro! I haven't laughed so hard! Brilliant idea.
Pro tip. Save the wheel well insulation to use as a template if you plan on putting down sound deadener.

@@KevinEassa you too man
Awesome. 2001 Astro I’m working on. Can’t wait
Good luck!
very helpful video - I did not realize how tough it was to get the carpet out till I started on it - definitely needs brute force !
Glad it helped! Haha it is brutal, but we did have fun just being savages ripping it out, but super happy when it was over lol
Good luck. Be safe.
Thank you!

Nice! We’ve needed a lot of work over the last few months but hey it still runs! 😂🙏🏼
Kevin Eassa lmao, that should be the vans catch phrase. “It needs a lot of work! But, hey It runs”
I have a 2002 safari that won't start after lower radiator hose came loose...any ideas?

That's awesome! I hope you have an amazing conversion, and hopefully the extra price just means you have less repairs to do like we did haha
1. They needed gloves. Beasty
2. A strong blade would've helped. 👍
Oh and 3 months was NOT the whole pandemic😂 great vid!!🎉🎉
Thanks for watching, we definitely should have used gloves and a sharper blade. We rag tagged it, next conversion will be better!

I’m not sure I’m sorry, I’m not great with cars. We haven’t had this van for awhile now but we had a lot of problems with it
so how did you mount the bed frames? to the floor? did you just drill and screw to the floor boards? or are they just free floating?
Drill and screw into the floor! It’s extremely sturdy!
How big is the trunk with the seats down or with no seats
How do you guys stay warm in winter? Any tips on insulation for a van like this?
I dig it!!! Good information on here!
What kind of camera are you using? Is it really an iPhone 11 pro??
And what did you use to edit???
thanks so much! It's a mixture of a handful of cameras as we filmed over many months- Sony A7III, GoPro Hero 8, Iphone 11 pro, and the DJI Osmo Action! And editing Premiere Pro
How long is your bed?
(For not using up space). I am 5'5 so I made my bed about 2' longer then my height.
oh nice! I am 5'11 I believe we measured out the bed to 72 inches
Life hack.
Cut foam with electric carving knife.
we tried everything haha nothing we tried gave us the best cut, oh well did the job
I may have missed it, how many miles did you buy it with?? I see one now on Craigslist for $4,000 with 84,000 miles but I’m thinking maybe I should hold out now!! Lol
Oh nice! I think I bought mine around 176k miles!
Congrats, your van is somewhat, but not near as ghetto as my beloved 96 Astro conversion van #ghettofabulousvan
hahah I love it, sadly ours died since the making of this video but it had a dam good life haha
@@KevinEassa I still have mine

What did you do to cover the holes where the seats were?
Looks like they just put floor on top of it
That's not enough headroom....if I can't sit up on the bed, I'd feel like I was sleeping in a coffin. I would still have some storage under the bed, just not that high.
Haha it does feel pretty tight, but we make do. Thanks for watching
@Katy Mak it’s not dumb, it just isn’t what you prefer
Were you able to sell the old seats?
We weren’t actually, they were in such bad shape and getting them out was a very hard task in itself. Don’t think they were touched in 20 years. Rusted and pretty gnarly, so we ended up just having to toss them
What were the measurements for this?
Which part?? Floors, bed frame, curtains?
Kevin Eassa the floor and bed.
Jesus loves you.
don't ever forget that.
Why cut the seat belts when they simply have a few bolts and are simple to remove? What a wast.
Be safe.
Thank you!
Are the 2 men a couple?
hahaha no we are not
should of built the bed with slits in the frame helps with mold. you'll probably have mold under your mattress .
i hope not haha, but thanks for the tip!
