Colt was involved in the three most iconic firearm in the last 100 plus years. The SAA, the 1911 and the AR15.
Yes, even though they did not design the latter two. It's very sad to see them going downhill so fast these days. I hope they can get their financial house in order and rebound, even if they, too, need to move South in order to remain profitable.
hickok45 yes, I would rather have them move somewhere else with production then go out of business
The 1877 double action BTK's favorite
I live in the UK so I can't shoot guns, but I find this to be one of the most comforting channels on RUclips. It's like an oasis of homely sanity in the desert of madness that is the modern world.
“I doubt this gun was used to smoke pot back in 1907.” I love it 😂
They did have terracotta back then. Maybe used to make pots like that. And sure someone would've shot one at some point if they did. Shooting stop signs goes back over half as long in the country at least.
J Moore “smoking pot”= smoking marijuana my man. No facts needed
And of course we don’t do that nonsense, but Hickok45 is the god of guns that introduced me to such a metaphor.
@@JNoMooreNumbers They had "Wacky Weed" back then!
thank you I've been a SAA fan all my 67 years of life it's the best gun ever made
I'm impressed that your knew enough to be a fan back when you were six months old. :-)
We lived in the mountains of Northern California back then by the time I was three my Uncle started teaching how to shoot his my mom kept one handy just to keep us kids from getting eaten by the wild life
Colt SA was the only handgun my father owned and carried. Aquired another late in life. Honored that he passed them down to me. Sweet triggers and a joy to shoot.
This reminds me of GTA SA
Awesome. A colt SAA is hard to come by these days unless you wanna pay a lot of $
111 year old gun, and it still works, you gotta love that.
Nocturnal Toothbrush Not so old if you think about it but bet the newer plastic guns won't hold up that long unless barely touched. I like good old steel. Doesn't feel like I'm holding a squirtgun. Revolvers are not ammo picky or snappy like some micros. With small hands but long fingers, micros just feel too small even for me. I prefer my revolvers too. Maybe I watched too many spaghetti westerns as a kid. 😁
I remember the day when ya'll only had 20k subs and to see 3 million plus. From me and the other 3 plus million and I think I can comfortably say this for everyone we are humble to say "Thank You very much for being the greatest example for the gun community Mr. Hickok!!!!" And big ups and shoutout to John for sharing this great man with the rest of the world and keeping him in frame. Keep on keeping on...Here's To The Good Times!🍻
Aquariums,FPV flying RC'S, and Recipes with B couldn’t have said it better brother.
Amen eh.
gapster46 I was here before he created his account
Yes I hate blacks also god see the difference between black and white,Asians ,Arabs
I bought a new Colt SAA in .45 LC a few years ago. Always wanted one and wanted it to be a revolver to pass down to my son one day. It is a lot of fun to shoot and hold👍🏻 definitely worth the $$
1907 cartridge handguns, impressive back in the day, and today.
I do the same load 5 method when using my cap and ball revolvers. Especially when I'm riding around in a vehicle when hunting. I even take it a step further, I put it on the safety notch before the empty cylinder in case it gets accidentally cocked.
Back in the early 70s the widow of a long term Oregon Sheriff gave me her husband's old Colt SAA chambered in .38-40. Bullet is actually about 41 caliber. Gun came with belt, holster and several rounds in the loops. Ammo was so old it hanged fired. So I had to come up with brass and make my own loads. In later years because of cowboy action shooting .38-40 ammo became available again, but I still load my own. It is a pretty impressive round. It will put a 180 grain bullet just as deep in a log as a .357 mag with a 158 gr SWC. I sent the serial number to Colt and learned it was made in 1904. Like the one in this video, the bluing and case hardening have faded. And like the one in the video the action is still tight and it still shoots accurately. It will always be my favorite handgun. I carried it for years until I became aware of its value. So I semi retired it and bought a new generation Colt SAA in .45 Colt.
One of the top 5 Firearms of all time - in my book!
We have a 1907 Colt SAA chambered in 41 Long Colt. It gorgeous and looks as though it has never been fired. Those revolvers are tight and smooth as butter.
Life is always good with a Colt
When I first saw this 1979 Nintendo video game called Sheriff in the Marine World Africa U.S.A. arcade game area, it was shown in black and white at first. I first saw it in color by the year 2019. 🌍 😳 😢 😑 😐 😒 🌍

THE DESERT EAGLE
I never get tired of seeing a single action 45 Colt.
+hickok45, you are the sole reason I’m now interested in SA revolvers. Thank you for the videos and keep up the outstanding work!
I have a Colt SAA chambered in .38-40 Win! 5 1/5 inch barrel! According to the serial number, Colt says it was made in 1904! Bluing and case hardening are long faded away, but action is tight and it still shoots true. Acquired it about 1970 or so, carried it until the early '90s when I decided it was too valuable to risk loss or damage, so I semi retired it and replaced it with a new SAA! That is my primary side arm to this day! The old gun saved my bacon late one night in Jan, 1973.
A vintage Colt 1873 model SAA is tempting and might be nice but would probably be more revolver than I want to take care of with aging parts and springs. Have a SA 5.5" Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt. It is a joy to use on the range and very different compared to DA revolvers with speed loaders and pistols with magazines. Six rounds with a loading gate means you need to make them count. General Patton carried a Colt SAA as a captain into the 1916-1917 Mexican Expedition that unsuccessfully pursued Pancho Villa around northern Mexico. He got into a firefight and realized his rate of fire was severely limited with reloading time, even when compared to his soldiers that were armed with 1903 Springfield bolt actions. He quickly bought a second one, using what would be called now a New York reload. Gave the second one away shortly after WWI during the 1920's to a Hollywood movie star he admired that had entertained the troops during the war, and replaced it with a Registered .357 Magnum in the 1930's. The .45 SAA and DA .357 magnum were what he carried on a gunbelt during WWII. Kept the General Officer Colt 1908 Pocket Hammerless .380 he was issued tucked into his waistband when he carried it. That's the pistol he used to shoot at a German fighter in low altitude strafing run while in North Africa.
Interesting stuff. When I was doing cowboy competition (SASS), that "New York Reload" was the order of the day. You almost always start with two loaded pistols, and you use them both. Two single action revolvers is quite a heavy "New York Reload," though. :-)
Yeah, John and I have seen his guns at the Patton Museum up at Fort Knox, Ky. John and I used to stop and go through that pretty often when he was younger. After 9-11, it became more difficult to get on base to see it, at least for a gun packer. I think now they are changed things so that you do not have to actually go on base to get to the museum.
AHHHH! Another Colt SAA I love these things
" To me it's a beautiful gun; to some it might not be". I agree. The Colt .45 presented here has character. Patina.
Just joined the NRA finally after watching over a hundred of your videos, I don't fully agree with all the stands they make, but they are the most prominent protectors of the 2nd Amendment I can find. Thank you and God Bless Hickok.
Love these SAA videos, keep up the great Hickok fam!
Love the Colt SAA videos, some of the most beautifulest guns ever made
Was able to pick up a 1903 Saturday at the Jackson, Ms. gun show. Mine is 38 40,, in great condition. Hope to catch some spring weather and try it out. You and I could spend a day together talking .
Thank you for showing this GREAT revolver!

I love the sound of a Colt, no clones sound the same as the clicks of a Colt.
Great video Hickock 45, thanks.
Love the older gun videos. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you for doing so many Colt SAA videos! Keep em' coming :) 1907, the birth year of John Wayne. Too cool!!
Damn the framerate is something else. I was watching some of the old episodes and jumped to this one and holy hell it's crisp. This is a good review too, like all the others.
Man, that is a beauty!
such a beautiful firearm. even the sound of the shells getting kicked out of that thing is amazing.
Congrats on 3mil subs, hickok! Been here since the beginning.
Love the Colt SAA. Thanks Hickok.
I've been waiting for this!
Wished for a video of this gun a long time. A top five favourite gun ever.
Jeepers Hickok you’re really hitting them out if the park. This is a great way to pass the SB halftime “show”
Love your old Colts, Hickok!
Just one consideration for these old timers. Firing pins in old Colt SAAs are fixed. Dry firing can cause a burr on the inside of the frame (recoil plate) where the firing pin arcs down and pokes out. In the mid-60s, Colt started using a floating firing pin. They wiggle a bit so less likely to cause a burr.
Ive found that the cocking lesson you gave works great and also saves the finish on the cylinder. The cylinder stop will ride against the cylinder if uncocked other then the way you demonstrated. I did the same thing with my Colt SAA 45LC
Bet money that there is at least one Metal Gear reference below.
Not below, above.
You're pretty good.
As above so below
Congrats on 3 million!!!
I always love watching yer videos. You Shure know how to keep me interested. I like yer sense of humor too. Almost like watching me Rogers with guns.

One of you're favs Hickok45!
Man. That historic wheel gun in that nice leather holster and belt is just 👌🏼👌🏼. Man that is so nice. Thanks for sharing.
wow! That's real vintage gun and it sounds powerful a perfect tool to use for an attitude adjusting .
liked and favd it before i even watched it all. Something i can listen to forever is hickok wax philosophical about the finer points of American revolvers
You're pretty good
Good? Yes. Pretty? Not so much. ; )
Great video on a great gun! My SAA .45 was made in 1898, and is a great shooter in superb shape I have recently added a 1905 Bisley in .38 WCF to the collection. The Bisley has the finest factory trigger pull I have ever encountered, BTW. Also have the Winchester 1892 in .38 WCF as a companion to the Bisley.
Of course I have modern weapons as well, but to me, they are like mechanics tools. They serve a purpose, but have no soul.
For those of you wondering why he loads in one, skips a chamber, then loads four more, it’s so the hammer does not rest on the primer of a round. When you’ve got these older Colt revolvers, such as the Colt Single Action Army, there is no safety between the hammer and the rounds in the chamber, and they can go off prematurely, even if the hammer isn’t back.
I think the danger is from the hammer being struck causing the preemie, not so much of a spontaneous preemie in the holster. :)
It is he striking of the hammer that can cause the firing pin to hit the primer.
This applies to all most all Colt SSA type of six guns should be loaded the same way. Uberti is the largest manufacturer of SSA's today has come out with a new model that they say will be safe to load 6, but I have not seen one myself. I have the previous model and it is a 5 run gun.
Rugers have a safety in them allowing 6.
To those that have not shot one, have let 2 friends shoot mine and they both want one. One's wife can't shoot it enough. :-)
Yes, see our video on that topic. I put the link in the description.
Zachary Swing Tell me about it. I had a 22 revolver and it fell out of my lap when I got out of my car.....BANG!!!
According to my copy of an 1888 Colt catalog, though would load 6 and carry it with the hammer at the first notch.
THIS... is the greatest handgun ever made. The Colt Single Action Army. Six bullets. More than enough to kill anything that moves.
Beautiful Colt! Thanks for sharing.
Most beautiful revolver ever made
Wow 3 million subs!
I have a 32 Derringer from the early 1900's with pearl grips. Haven't fired it yet, but it sure it sweet looking. Something about old guns that are just so cool.
I love this guys vids! He’s like a Gun Grandpa!
man thats one good looking handgun
Well done on breaking 3 MILLION SUBS!
Keep up the good fight over in the good ol US of A.
Looks all original. I have a 1909 Bisley. If you smell the grips, they will smell like tire rubber if they are original. The originals are made from hard rubber not plastic. Nice pistol.
Life is good when you have a SAA
She's a beaut.
Even with the pitting that is one absolutely gorgeous gun! Nice pick up!
Seeing the cosmetic condition of that fine revolver is a reminder to many that a gun is simply a tool. It seems this one still performs its purpose quite well.
I'm with you Hickok, my guns (especially the blued ones) are babied.
I've got a U.S. Firearms (now defunct!) SAA .45LC, awesome Gun! I had an original Colt Bisley Model chambered in 44/40. I sold it and bought a Colt LE6920 AR platform. I miss the Bisley Model. I still USFA .45LC.
Nice closeup on America's most beloved cartridge. What a camera! What a world! What a country!
Gun master!
Hello hickok, I love this video.
I love that look. I'm thinking about seeing if I can have one of my newer revolvers finished like that. I'm pretty much into vintage everything, and I like it in original condition, not restored.
Love them old guns
I liked you calling yourself out with the flinch, had that trick played on me, expecting the shot and its a dud haha, yeah I flinched.
Absolutely beautiful gun
What a nice classic hand gun. Very cool carry although i would have a 1911 on my other hip. Great video as usual.
Great video hickok sir. 😄
Boy, that’s a beauty! I had one in .38 Spl with a 7 1/2 “ barrel. She was a shooter! I had an Uncle who had a Colt collection that had one of every Colt revolver ever made. He’s gone now and I have no idea what happened to the collection, because most of my cousins are gone too.
Dayum b probably all over the place
Was looking at the colt saa at a gun show today going back tommorrow and might be picking one up
Wife said yes
And always loved the look
Anybody else notice how small that beauty is in Hickok's hands? What a beautiful gun.
beautiful firearm!!! Very precised.
I hope to one day be as happy as Hickok is when he's got an old revolver nearby. 😊
Thanks for responding, my first thought would be to have it polished up etc. but .........
amazing piece of history
Marvellous gun!
It’s eye candy to me! Beautiful
I have a Colt SAA made in 1904 chambered in .38-40! My all time favorite handgun. Originally belonged to a long time sheriff in Oregon. His widow gave it to me in about 1970. Was my carry gun for years until I learned it was too valuable to risk. So I got a new generation in .45 colt. Carry it often, but still shoot the old girl from time to time.
@Terry Dean Channel Yes, they sure would! Speaking of older Model '94s, when I was a teenager went elk hunting with some fellows. One of them, a U of WY student, showed up with an old '94 rifle with a long octagon barrel. As I recall it was his grandfather's gun. He took a horrible ribbing about his "Red Ryder" BB gun! But while the rest of us were trying to get our scoped hunting rifles un-slung from our shoulders this fellow dropped to one knee and nailed a nice bull elk going at a dead run. One shot, right behind the right ear, about 50 yards! Because of that, my primary hunting rifle became a pre-64 Model. It has taken Mule Deer, Elk, and Pronghorns.
👍😂 you ain't the Sundance kid Hickok , maybevWild Bill !
Respect to you youngster you do a great job 👍👍🇺🇸
love that you can see the bullet travel when you shoot the Gong
I love these soo much. My father has gotten one just as a replica.

That, is a beautiful gun.
Hickock your a beast.
I agree, it is beautiful.
