It saddens me because if he was on Red Sox or Yankees, every start would be media frenzy and sold out. I remember how entire cities went nuts over Hideo Nomo and Linsanity, and Ohtani's feats blows them away.
Like Sabathia said, if he had started with the Yankees, he would have been forced to choose one or the other. Then he would have just been another not-famous Japanese player. Give the Angels credit for letting him choose his career, play 2-way, and make history.

I keep mentioning that Ohtani's WAR rate is underrated because he's a 2 in 1 player, which allows his team to carry another player on the roster. On a crappy team like the A's that might not have that big of an impact, but on a big spending team like the Yankees that's HUGE. That means they can go out an get another Matt Carpenter on the bench, which only increases your chances of winning. How do you adjust the WAR for for that?

We aren't talking about MVP for the AL this season. We should be talking about greatest season of all time (which was last year). If you want to make it fair then create a whole new category for mvp. Best offensive mvp or something like that. Otherwise, Yes Ohtani broke the category and live with it. Debate over.
