@@mlgerab Barry was the sh8! He was on steroid but those few years that he was really hot…omg. You can not pitch it to him because he will eat you up…he was that good.
No, no one has done better than Shohei Ohtani. Someone mentioned Barry Bonds, but Barry Bonds and everyone else could not do what Shohei Ohtani is doing. Shohei Ohtani had done both pitching and hitting at elite levels.
📢📢📢 MVP, MVP, MVP!!! Shohei Ohtani, in his start last night, was simply mesmerizing, especially against the Astros, one of the most potent lineups in baseball. 6 IP, only 1 ER, 12 K; 2 for 4 at the plate with a 2-RBI triple, a single, a walk and a run scored. He is truly remarkable! Sugoi, Ohtani-san! I am very happy to be alive today to witness Shohei's amazing two-way skillset. He's a superstar, a unicorn 🦄🦄🦄
I love how Sho doesnt showboat or jog even.. he runs hard all the time, he respects the game and his peers, and he crushes them with crazy pitch combos and timely hitting.
I love that Shohei is also his own run support, hitting the go ahead triple last night. And this is not the first time And if we're comparing to Judge for MVP just from a batting perspective (ignoring pitching for a moment), although Ohtani is batting .201 in his last 13, Judge, in his last 13, is batting .191 and Yankees are 7-6, and in 4 of those wins Judge had no hits. So Yanks can win without his contribution too.
Ohtani WAR should be 8.46 Rate him as one player and not two separate players, everyone would agree with you and all those ignoring that he pitches + hits will be silenced. Most games by position player is 90 Most games by starting pitcher is 18 ...18x5= 90 games Ohtani as position player is 84 games Ohtani as starting pitcher is 15 games ...15x5 = 75 games 84 + 75 = 159 games 159-90 = 69 more games than any player Ohtani WAR = 4.8 4.8/90 games = .053 69 x. 053 = 3.657 4.8 + 3.647 = 8.46 WAR Give Ohtani credit for his Play time as one player, stop rating him as two separate players!!!
I wish somehow it were possible to calculate something called a team's defensive stats and include them in the calculation of earned runs. Playing for the Angels, there are times when earned runs are added in situations that would be unlikely for other teams.
iF He continue to do so and continue to win up to double digit... NO! arguement HE Deserve to have the CY YOUNG🏆 and D' SiLVER SLUGGER Award... GAMBATE KUDASAi... SHOWTiME❣️OHTANi SHOHEi
And to top it all off Shoehei’s swag is is so subtle . The man is super confident in himself while still being incredibly humble . He’s funny as hell and just exudes down to earth best buddy vibes . He deserves all the fame in the world .
I think it'd be very impressive if another 2-way player goes out there and posts a 4.25 ERA through 14 starts and .250 10 homers 30 RBIs. But Shohei does both at elite level which blows the mind of anyone who follows baseball statistics.
This is closest to Jordan in his prime. Jackson was a freak athlete, but not the greatest at his craft. Ohtani’s performance in the last two years will be spoken of for the next 100 years.
I don't think people quite understand the crazy awesomeness of what this man is doing. I was watching an interview, from last year's ASG...he was asked to pick one...and he couldn't because he's balanced by both pitching and hitting....like whet??? That's not normal, this man isn't the norm, and I really don't think people will truly embrace his greatness until after he's retired.
I once read a serious statistical study of the best MLB player ever. The result was Babe Ruth for a career, Mickey Mantle for a season (much help from his defense). Looks like a new study is in order.
"NiPPON DANJi" Spirit... JAPANESE SAMURAi Spirit,,, when they are bringing down they become more strong... The phenomenon called “Shohei Ohtani” is already way beyond Reality. Talking about him with statistics and precedents is beginning to lose the meaning… people just can’t catch up with the concept of this phenomenon. How wonderful what is that we have been witnessing since last year!
Anyone who thinks anyone else should be MVP are simply being a contrarian for the sake of being a contrarian. NO ONE is bringing 2-way skills AND bringing interest back into watching MLB again other than Shohei Ohtani. Stay healthy my guy!
to be mentioned in the same line as Nolan Ryan, is good enough. to be a Cy young candidate, he will have to improve very much so. he has no sinker, no change-up. and, he never throws the fastball high, up, out of the zone. these are basics in pitching, when it comes to dominance. he's able to surpass expectations via uniqueness; a slider that back-doors up and side-ways. a splitter that's nearly unhittable. and a fastball that's clocked at 100 mph. as per the hitting...he needs to think outside the box, again. that's how genius works.
I thought he is already a CY candidate with his current pitching stats without the sinker. Who told you a pitcher needs to do certain things to excel? Are you new to baseball?
All true and all beyond comprehension. But I think you left out one of the most impressive stats (though maybe you used that in a previous cast): Ohtani has the highest OPS with RISP of any batter, and simultaneously the lowest OPS by opposing hitters with RISP of any pitcher. In other words, he produces best as a hitter with runners in scoring position and locks down opposing hitters better than anyone else with a minimum of 25 starts when he's pitching with runners in scoring position. Is that mind-blowing or not? Oh well, it's just one of the stats and records he has amassed so far.
I’m not yet sure he’s the greatest player who ever lived, but he’s definitely the most exciting by a mile. If he wins the MVP this year and next year does he even need to do anything else to be a Hall of Famer? This guy is Sandy Koufax producing his own run support and a shit load of home runs!
I think this guy will be the greatest ever, when all is said and done. But more importantly, he’s doing something the Yankees, the Cubs and Red Sox couldn’t do: Making people watch. After the 94 Strike, this is the first player to legitimately make people curious again. He’s the most valuable because he’s making people interested in MLB again, something no one else has been able to do.
Hey Ben. That’s unfortunate your brother won’t pitch in ASG. Hopefully Ohtani but it will be McClanahan. Deserving but Ohtani won’t be a wrong pick and would be Awesome!!
Ohtani should not pitch in an all-star game at all if he isn't starting. Not being able to do starting routines can kill his season. Remember he had Tommy John surgery.
It's very simple, Aaron Judge can be replaced, but Shohei cannot be replaced. Who is coming up to do 2 way? No one, while next Aaron Judge may come up to the big league soon.
Shohei has a better chance to win mvp than cy young. As good as he's pitching I would be surprised if he won cy young this year. Your brother and Mclanahan have had better years so far. Since June 27th the angels have only won games that shohei have started...that's crazy for any player.
best two years of prime bonds was better from a war perspective without a comparison he literally was the definition of perfection for a hitter for a four year stretch. Don't get me wrong ohtani is becoming an all time great over night but to be as good as bonds his hitting would need to significantly better
When can people realise there ain't no AL MVP RACE? It's not even close. His ERA is lower than Cole and he has OPS higher than Vladdy. How is anyone possibly better than Cole and Vlad COMBINED? It's a crime if Ohtani doesn't win MVP unanimously.
Such a waste of talent to be playing for the Angels and their meddlesome owner, and incompetent GM who doesn’t know how to construct a team. What a shame. He will be playing for another team by next years trade deadline.
Has there been a better two year stretch by a player in MLB history?
No. Emphatically no. There has never been someone as great in a season and a half.

You called it last year as well Ben, great job. Ohtani is the MVP, no question!
2022 AL MVP is Aaron Judge
2022 NL MVP is somebody
2022 MLB MVP is SHOHEI OHTANI
Good idea

Ben, always appreciate your enthusiastic support for Shouhei Ohtani 😍
I love EMERGENCY Shohei Ohtani (大谷翔平) News!!
It seems like there are five emergencies a week
We need a new award for him beyond the existing ones🏆
I love how Sho doesnt showboat or jog even.. he runs hard all the time, he respects the game and his peers, and he crushes them with crazy pitch combos and timely hitting.
I can definitely, definitely feel Ben’s passion towards Shohei.
We are witnessing Greatness. He is heating up and has elevated his game to UNICORN level. Thanks for being the messenger of this truth.
I called it! I knew youd do an emergency broadcast after last night! Love you and love shohei!
Thanks!!
Many people helped Ohtani and he is grateful to them and enjoys baseball ...
... I'm happy to see it ...
I love that Shohei is also his own run support, hitting the go ahead triple last night. And this is not the first time

Some are picking other MVP contenders over Shohei just for the sake of having conversation. Deep inside, they know. :D
They should know...
Right. They can’t avoid the truth. Hehe
THANK YOU very much Mr. BEN VERLANDER for the emergency highLight🥰, appreciate...
Ohtani WAR should be 8.46
Rate him as one player and not two separate players, everyone would agree with you and all those ignoring that he pitches + hits will be silenced.
Most games by position player is 90
Most games by starting pitcher is 18
...18x5= 90 games
Ohtani as position player is 84 games
Ohtani as starting pitcher is 15 games
...15x5 = 75 games
84 + 75 = 159 games
159-90 = 69 more games than any player
Ohtani WAR = 4.8
4.8/90 games = .053
69 x. 053 = 3.657
4.8 + 3.647 = 8.46 WAR
Give Ohtani credit for his Play time as one player, stop rating him as two separate players!!!
That’s more fair calculation formula.
thats a benjamin
Damn right we needed EMERGENCY SHOHEI COVERAGE
大谷選手の活躍ぶり、嬉しいよね、ベンさん😊⚾😊
There are two Shohei Ohtani
One is great in pitching
The other is great in hitting
They have greatness in common
I wish somehow it were possible to calculate something called a team's defensive stats and include them in the calculation of earned runs. Playing for the Angels, there are times when earned runs are added in situations that would be unlikely for other teams.

SHOthani all the way⭐️⭐️
Next year Shohei will be a catcher in addition to being a pitcher and a hitter.
ohtani is more than an ace pitcher...more than a slugger...he is an inspiration...a trail-blazer

Not an angels fan to the slightest. (Mariners fan rip) Ohtani is God sent. Man deserves a better team, as does Trout.
Awesome segment dude!
Sounds stupid and I know you have 41k views but love the liking of comments and actively being active with the community. Keep it up man.
Shohei, the slugger, being a good teammate by helping his teammate Ohtani, the pitcher, to win game by driving in 2 runs with a triple
Kershaw & Ohtani starting pitchers for this All-Stars would be magical

Why are the refs so against him? They have been utterly unfair to him and cheated him out of strikes.
And somehow he just brushes bad calls off with a smile.
