Will Disney/Lucasfilm make this same mistake with the next Trilogy?

If they just re-used the storylines from legends, then there no point at all, they specifically destroy legend material for "creative freedom" and now just admitting "Yeah, we mess up"
When you are not held accountable, you have little reason to switch gears/recourse the ship. So since current leadership will not admit to their mistakes, it's pretty much a given that EU/Legend stuff will not be even considered.
And remember, the BS reason why the trashed the EU is because they claimed it would be hard to transition the books to film.
They can just bring it back as an alternate universe/timeline, as Lucas considered everything not his 6 movies anyway. Plus that solves the current lore vacuum and and the sometime odd choices or inconsistencies with the very little bit that they do decide to reuse since they seem to been having a creativity vacuum as well a solid road map for how they plan to do post RotJ and own spin to better mesh with their sequels, since a based framework can for how things went downhill for the OT heroes after RotJ can be constructed from what was already laid out in the old EU, that would arguably be more satisfying then what they have now which sharply divided the fan base that amounts to just that the Empire largely just ran and hid a year after RotJ the New Republic was so incompetent from the start, that within years half of the galaxy wanted started to want a return of the Empire and people found out that Darth Vader was Luke and Leia’s father, which led to Han going back to old habits and divorcing Leia, Ben becoming obsessed with his grandfather and Luke weirding out enough to do something completely out of character by almost going through with killing his nephew because of a bad dream that he might fall to the Darkside and lead an Empire that wasn’t yet a thing, and somehow the Skywalkers not being the true heroes of the Saga if not the franchise, but rather a Palpatine by net effect , a Palpatine who is the daughter of a Clone of the ultimate villain of the Saga, who needed far less training in the Force and with a lightsaber than even the son of the Chosen One to be a match for any Skywalker or the Emperor.
Just do a small bit of retcon by borrowing from Legends and use Ahsoka and the Mandoverse to be the catalyst for the much of the differences between the two post RotJ timelines while staring the Filoni projects clear from fully committing to either timeline. Everyone’s happy. And all of a sudden not only has the universe expanded for newer and causal fans, but you get a good deal of room to heal the divide, have an outline for future projects and you don’t have to tippy toe around or keep holding off, and they can bring select storylines from what they know worked from the Legends to the screen and even have an assortment of games lined up that they know worked that they can remake with newer engines.
Plus with they could milk the Old Republic storylines that they know worked after a similar fashion that they did with the Clone Wars and all of its spin-off because currently don’t know what else to do. And we get as bare bone road map of 18,000 years to develop between the formation of the Jedi Order and the rise of the Sith that old EU near really touched.
(lol this post needs a lot of editing)
@ Actually, it came down to the conflict between the state of the galaxy after the Yuuzhan Vong war and what Disney wanted for the sequels and Disney wanted to start pumping out movies as quickly and as soon as possible while the dust was still settling at LucasFilm with a bunch of new faces including Kennedy.
Dropping the EU nearly in its entirety seemed to be the easiest thing to do considering. And as a benefit, they solid it to us as it would free up the creative process so that the project directors and writers and the causal fans wouldn’t need to know the anything about the continuity other than the movies to get into the new stuff and Kennedy was all for that since she was a corporate type, who like the heads at Disney wanted to see big profits ASAP.
Pretty much
Personally.... i dont think disney can regain popularity with its star wars audience. Its over. No matter what they pump out, people have tapped out... Thrawn, kenobi, vader and etc all been butchered. Not to mention the sequals. Ive said it plenty of times on this channel... but what we have is Legends/EU. Star Wars will live on through George Lucas' Star Wars and Legends. Until disney gives up.
Yep, they have run out of chance. Now we just wait till they just give up.
Yeah I agree….the only way would be to come up with a bunch of fabulous new characters and Disney don’t have the capacity or creativity to come up with one let alone the number they would need.
You are right and it is crushing that with things like Galaxy’s Edge, Disney is in too deep to ever sell it.
I see it eventually becoming a pure merch brand churning out soulless crap-quality OT/PT merchandise which is a boomers and millennials honeypot for some cash flow.
Actually this is already happening except they are still burning money making canon-breaking failed shows virtue signaling to 0.001% of their audience while alienating the rest including the aforementioned boomers and millennials who keep Disney in business
I'm more entertained with their perpetual failures rather than a successful course correction.
Disney and mistakes go hand in hand
@@CloneCaptainKeeli disney and incompetent writers go hand-in-hand.
@@darthcaedus9130 They really do
If they start using start using stories from the EU, I'm going to just laugh and call Disney out. It was around the time after Ep7 came out, Pablo Hidalgo, the dude in charge of the lore was interviewed and Disney making the EU non-canon.
He claimed the reason why they did that is because it would have been too hard to transition the books to film, which is goofy since it happens all the time. It's like they forgot about Marvel.
Are the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. 🤦🏾
@@EastlakeRasta7 What? 🤡
If they do Abeloth, she has to be treated as a Thanos instead of a Dormammu. She can't be a one off villain if they want her to have even the slightest bit of impact.
I do not want them to Marvelize star wars. So she should not be treated as Thanos.
@@vetarlittorf1807 I mean they just need to build her up and not "Oh no, it's Abeloth and she's gone." That's why I despise Doctor Strange so much.
@@crossfire34 see that's what I disliked about the MCU they just killed off all their main villains, that are interesting and menacing they could have easily subtly set up their villains teaming up and Body in The Avengers but sadly they didn't have the creative writing Talent to set that subplot up, similar with how they set up the Avengers movie with individual movies for the respected Heroes. 🤦🏾
Thanos🤮
Really hate how Disney squandered the potential platinum mine of the Star Wars brand they've had for over a decade. I mean, they've have professionals on top of each other but they've failed so many times to regain the spark they got with The Force Awakens. Truly sad.
Dude, I now wanna see a short film where a rancore gets loose on Endor and destroys the Ewok village
Hey Thor, what do you think general audiences think about Star Wars these days? Since we can talk all day about the fanbase, but ultimately it's the general public who are the largest revenue for SW.
Personally I feel like with the low views of Andor (initially) and Acolyte, that general audiences are starting to check out. And with most fans out, if Disney doesn't do something new and exciting to keep general audiences, then they'll be in big trouble.
I feel like general audiences don't really care much, probably more apathetic than people like me, at this point.
Unfortunately Star Wars has become just another franchise at best…..those of us old enough to remember know that a release of a new film was something very, very special and an event in itself. Now it’s really no different to a release of something in the Jurassic Park or Mission Impossible series etc (no disrespect to either of those series…both have some amazing films…just using them as examples)
I’ve mentioned before, and I realized my experiences are anecdotal. I work with a lot of kids and pay attention to what they are interested in. Very few are interested in SW. (my son is only interested in OT, PT, and the Mandalorian) Nobody dressed up as any characters for Halloween, especially the girls. No girls are interested in Rey, it’s all about Elsa from
Frozen. Also the president of Hasbro even said the ST trilogy merchandise hasn’t sold well. So I’m not sure why they claim Rey is their only asset.
The only chance would be if they abandoned the idea of making a trilogy about Rey, and aimed to make a trilogy, done well this time, on the wars between the Jedi and the Sith of the old Republic.
Actions, intrigues, relationships between characters and themes that are in line with those of the OT.
Otherwise, we can even close the show, Rey is of interest to a minimum percentage of the audience.
If there's one thing that I've learned, lucasfilm under Kathleen Kennedy and the Disney Corporation, if there's any way for them to mess it up they will make a direct beeline for it, and they'll be looking for shortcuts on the way
On the Open Bar livestream this week, Disparu said that it's like they have the easiest job in the world by taking stories that are already written and adapting them and instead they make their jobs incredibly difficult by finding the worst way to accomplish their task. He was talking about the MCU but it applies to Star Wars as well.
Yuuzhan vong should have been the ST. Heroes death would make sense if done right. The vong are formidable adversaries.
I'm part of the fandom that just wasn't a fan of the Vong. It felt like they jumped the shark there. Plus the killed off Chewie and Anakin.
@Deuteromis got to make the stories interesting. What better way than a death of a beloved character. Indicating the stakes were real
@@darthcaedus9130 But Chewie and Anakin though...
@@DeuteromisChewie was given a dignified heroic death. Plus, it was actually Lucas who suggested he died instead of Luke, so I don't know why it would be controversial.
@vetarlittorf1807 It was because of the fact that it was a beloved character that was killed off. It was pretty big news in the Fandom. I can understand why Lucas didn't want Luke to die obviously, but even Lucas himself was shocked how he died. It was kinda a big deal.
I love the difference between "it's possible" and "it's unlikely" when it comes to Disney Star Wars.
"It's possible" has that hint of hope for a better tomorrow.
Whereas "it's unlikely" is grounded in the track record Disney's provided in the last 10+ years.
I don't know how many people actually care anymore. I personally feel so very apathetic to the entire Disney Star Wars experience. I'm grateful for some great moments, but I feel that's all there is to it. Just moments strung together to push a social agenda.
Same here, I don't hate the ST, I just don't care. I'm exhausted with Rey. I'm more sad that I no longer don't care.
I think if anything they need to go small. No Galaxy wide threat or if it has to be Galaxy wide then make it almost like the Tyranid from 40k where we understand they’re a threat but it’s assumed this is only the beginning type story. Establish Rey make us care about the character. Have the character actually grow and make its own place not just be a retread that’s female and better some how. Then have the end of the trilogy be her finding her place in the galaxy at large.
I agree with you, but I wonder if anyone has the patience to go along with that at this point. That kind of story can't be big and flashy with distracting and dazzling special effects. The story has to be really solid but it will generally be a lot slower. With all the good will that's been squandered, I wonder, even if they did it, if enough people would come back for it.
Incredibly intriguing title and thumbnail. Very different to the usual in Star Wars.
To answer the question in the title
Yes absolutely Disney will make the same mistakes as before
Disney is that kid in school who will stick his hand in a light socket be shocked then five minutes later do it again then repeatedly does so
Its a bit late for this.
All they can do is make a full-on animated revamp/as in, maybe make Animated movies for the Prequels and Originals (and use this opportunity to follow the novelizations more closely) and then mayhaps rehash the Clone Wars as well, with bringing back the newer animations for the whole show in a modern setting
And replace the Sequels with an entirely new Trilogy. Either for Thrawn, the Vong, Abeloth, etc. Literally any Legends content, albeit more streamlined (I love the EU but it also has flaws and timeline inconsistency, and this would be the opportunity to fix that, without having to butcher it with some BS Disney remake that has only loose ties with source material)
@6:00 yes exactly. I'd rather they move on in the timeline over giving us another story about the empire..... How is the galaxy doing 10yrs after the destruction of Hosnian Prime?
I've always seen Ray as Jaina Solo, so her next movie would take place after Luke fought Abeloth in Fate of the Jedi (which now seems to be Ahsoka's story)..
The other problem is the cinematography. The lens flares, the lighting and color palet is way too jarring in the movies at least.
To win the fans back would be really hard, because most, including me, don't trust them enough right now to give them another chance.
Hey Thor, I’ve been thinking a lot about Star Wars alien species this week. With almost every new Star Wars project it seems like there’s a huge push to create entirely new alien species. Most of these we almost never see again in another project.
For me though, and I’d say for most people, practically none of the new alien species have made an impact or impression. If you were asked to name some Star Wars aliens, I bet 95 percent of them would be from the OT and Prequel trilogy. So my question is this….should Disney Star Wars just start using previously established alien species more often in their projects?
I think this could go a long way in making projects FEEL more like Star Wars if we saw more Wookiee, Rhodians, Twileks, or Trandoshan characters?
If I was in charge of Star Wars , not only would there be more alien characters, but there would be way less original designs. Would love to hear your thoughts.
Maybe you've already seen it, but there's a video on RUclips that talks about the design of the aliens in the three trilogies.
I haven't felt the slightest interest in those proposed by the new trilogy, but I've never been a fan of those in the prequels either (with a few exceptions). I continue to think that those of the OT are better: less exaggerated than those of the prequels, but not as banal and repetitive as those of the sequels.
@ I get where you’re coming from, I also prefer OT, but there were some really creative prequel aliens too!
I love Kaminoans, whatever Watto is, Darth Maul and the Zabraks, Gungans are ok, Kit Fisto’s species…there’s been some good ones.
The ONLY alien I’ve liked from the Disney era is two tubes from solo. His design was AWESOME.
Disney for Force’s sake, you have the Gannibal adaptation on plus, you can bring the Vong into your Star Wars.
Original Clone Wars is still the best. So epic!
My favorite Star Wars creature/beast is the Mawvorr which was made for the Old Republic MMO for the planet of Voss
Hey Thor, I've been wondering about how a millennium of peace made the Jedi complacent and arrogant. The question is, what could they have done to prevent that from happening? It's often said that peace can lead to stagnation and that controlled chaos is needed to stay in shape, so to speak. But it would be absurd for the Jedi to allow evil into the galaxy just to keep themselves focused. So what exactly could they have done to maintain the humility and vigilance they had when they were at war with the Brotherhood of Darkness?

If they combine thrawn and abeloth into one arc… and actually pull it off. That would be the greatest thing to ever happen to Star Wars.
I’ve made this comment on previous videos, but when you watch all “canon” Star Wars material in chronological order (which I tend to do every few years), the loss of the Clone Wars shorts is jarring, especially dealing with the character of Ventress, who is introduced in that series. One of the first episodes of the main Clone Wars series, chronologically, features a “rematch” between Ventress and Obi-Wan, but if you’ve never seen the shorts, you have no idea what’s going on, who this lady is, or why she’s got beef with Kenobi. The shorts might be a little over the top, but they’re an important part of the saga.
Yes. They are beyond hope.
No, time is most definitely *not* for something different. Frankly I don't think it was for Legends either when the Vong were introduced, and Abeloth was a complete miss. But unlike Legends which at least had some kind of galactic civilization rebuilt in the interim (even if it included Tarkin's ex forming FO's early prototype with a stunt from 007: Goldfinger) Disney canon doesn't have even that much. Introducing something like the Vong now would be a colossal mistake not just from the worldbuilding perspective, but because frankly it would be yet another massive swerve to the story, ie. what TFA was.
If you have a story of the rise and another of defeat of the evil Empire, the next story should be how to deal with the fallout of the Empire's fall. This was the genius of Lucas' alleged sequel plans. Disney needs to tell that story, *then* they can throw extragalactic conquerors or something in the mix.
Although it would have been seen as a cheap cop-out or copycat, Disney and Lucasfilm should have gone the Marvel route with phases adapting existing EU/Legends storylines, culminating each phase with some sort of Avengers-level style event.
In some cases what was comics, most paperback-only and some hardcover novels, could be your character introduction and story expansion movies, while other hardcover and some paperback-only novels could be your major-event movies.

1:26 No matter what it is, it’s gonna be shit because it’s Filoni behind the wheel of it. 🤣🤣🤣
They should lean heavy into Palpatine. We know he does cloning, he can be behind everything. He can even make clones that don't look like him, so he can run the senate, run the trade federations, run the military, run planetary gov'ts, everything. And not just be the top guy everywhere, but be the top 10 people everywhere. And then his greatest victory is not to destroy the jedi and rule, but to make the jedi irrelevant, insignificant, and rule. And then they can stop making SW movies because Palpatine won and can't be defeated.
6:26 yup. Sequel hate is less because eventually time moves on and you have new feelings and the old ones get scarred over.
Sequels sucked. But right now I’m pissed about the grocery bill. Tomorrow it will be everyone losing jobs to AI
Usually it's a good thing to have a proven track record. But not in Disney's case. And not when it comes to Star Wars.
I’d give Disney a lot of respect if they just adapted only the worst of legends. Imagine the next trilogy is announced and it’s Palpatine’s 3 eyed son with an army of Luuuke clones only for Palpatine to be reborn for a second time like he was in legends
Definitely Star wars needs a bigger better threat. I like what Ahsoka was setting up. Weather it’s what we hope it is. Or more of the same remains to be seen.
Omg 7:49 I remember that literally I was explaining this to my uncle when we saw it in theaters
New threats from the perridean galaxy would be a way to go.There is probably more than one planet with life in that galaxy.
i thought they were going to be headed in the right direction with Snoke, but then Rian Johnson said no 😢
Hey Thor, If Disney was smart they’d run right into the old republic and just do the revan saga but I doubt they could do it right or even manage to get it past Kennedy the destroyer without major changes so I imagine Star Wars is dead until a major shake up
I feel like if Abeloth isn’t even a B plot but more like a C plot, they don’t even remotely need to wrap it up. They can release her, and leave her for the Rey trilogy or something. Honestly, since she already beat ALL the Sith, only something like Abeloth could truly challenge her, imo. 🤷♀️
And to Thor’s point about Sequel hate: I don’t talk about how much I hate them except when I watch a Thor video that mentions them, basically. My hate hasn’t died down, but my discussing it very much has. Which I’m pretty sure is almost exactly what Thor has tried to say in at least one of this vids where he talks about Sequel hate. I won’t bring it up, but I’ll bash them again if you do lol
Hey Thor, any chance you ever read the fan made comic "Diary of a Crazed Mimbanite"?
Been seeing if anyone else read them, part of my teendom growing up as a Star Wars fan. Thankfully they are still up on the Temple website.
Disney has killed my interest in Star Wars. Every character has been destroyed. Rey has zero interest and zero value and zero draw.
Hey Thor can we talk about how everyone thinks Yoda saying that Luke is the Last Jedi is gospel. Yoda doesn't know every single Jedi and there may be others out there. Not to mention if we are using Legends continuity Yoda lived on a Force Nexus and wouldn't be able to sense other Jedi. I know Rebels contradicts this bc he speaks with Ezra but perhaps the temple on Lothal acted like an amplifieer. Also the only Jedi post ROTS that Yoda would KNOW FOR CERTAIN being alive would be Obi-Wan, Luke and Leia so it makes sense that YODA thinks that Luke is the Last Jedi but that doesn't mean there can't be other Jedi out there that HE doesn't know about. Not to mention there were 10,000 Jedi and even after order 66 and the Purge I find it difficult to believe that all the Jedi were exterminated. Would love to hear ur opinion
That people aren't talking as much about the ST as in years past is more a function time going by. People are either no longer SW fans, are simply ignoring it in favor of what they do like, and/or are talking about more recent failures like The Acolyte.
I just could never get into the Tartakovsky Clone Wars. Each episode was just sooo short.
Yep!!

Of course they will because they still follow the Holy Spreadsheet!
Hey Thor. Since we’re talking about using villains from legends. Why do you think Lucasfilm is so reluctant to use legends material. I mean Marvel uses a lot of its comics as source material for its MCU. We know Kennedy’s claims that Star Wars lacks source material. But is it more than that? Are there licensing issues with the writers of legends material? Why must the fans beg Lucasfilm to use the stories and characters from legends that are already there?
If they were smart, they would really dig into the Mandoverse. Make it awesome & significant to try to make the sequel trilogy to be more palatable. Not that it’ll make any of us like it, but they could make us love the in between & thus let this time period be for us.
Trust me. I’d rather a retcon of the sequels, but in a realist. It won’t happen.
They may not even do what I’m suggest, even though I think it’s the best way to unite the fandom or something close to it.
Working within what is, If I had my way, I’d run TV shows & films parallel. Maybe make favereau Mando situation a Gryst/ thrawb thing. Ahsoka can bring in abeloth in the other Galaxy. Maybe work them both forward until maybe a filoni setup of films that bring abeloth to the regular Galaxy after the favreau story concludes.
Have Dawn actually take from source material. Then, lead into some old republic films or maybe a show may be better.
Then, once all of that concludes, start the future films.
Very vague. I know. But. Just a rough outline.
Haha.
I think that if they make something great, word will spread and the Star Wars fandom will return.
Yea I definitely still despise the sequel trilogy more than anything else I’ve ever despised before. The only reason I still watch your videos is because I like you, not because I think there’s any hope for Star Wars, and there can never even be a new one at this point
If Star Wars ever makes a what if Series There Are a few I would love to see like Ruusan Reformation never happened,
Now that would be an interesting change to the clone wars. Think how many things would be different
And It also would work/ go together. Another scenario with what if the yuuzhan vong Invaded a few months before the Revenge of the sith

Didnt Zahn essentially get the same treatment that Lucas’s story treatments did?
“thanks for the characters, but as for all the story beats you gave us and spent several books setting up- we’re going to not do that.”
I also still haven’t forgiven them for “nerfing” Thrawn in Ashoka
I don't think the writers knew that's what they were doing to Thrawn. The way they wrote his lines, they clearly thought they were making him a strategist, but they didn't have the skill to pull off a military genius so it comes off as stupid.
@ I can see that. The Empire in the Disney Era must always lose and look inept at all times
At this point im just here to watch the trainwreck reach the second time it flips and runs into a ammunition dump
Yes, yes they will.
It'll be another "let's reboot the first 3 movies" again, but slightly differently.
The Vong are grimdark though, and Disney just isn't going to be able to do that well. The inevitable result would be something unsatisfying to both communities, not dark enough for fans of the original, but too much horror for the folks who actually like the sequel trilogy.

Probably. They just repurpose old storylines with new characters. I just plain lazy. That’s why people don’t care. They are creatively bankrupt.
I would honestly be pretty interested in the New Republic and the First Order remnants join forces against an extragalactic threat. Then maybe have the First Order evolve into something similar to the Fel Empire.
This is what I would have wanted from the Sequels: A story where the New Republic and a less extreme Imperial Remnant, after twenty years of an uneasy ceasefire, team up against a greater threat, the fight for a common goal eventually leading to something approaching a reunification at the end of IX.
Hey Thor, I think Star Wars fans will find it insulting if Disney uses the old EU story lines for this rumerd new Rey trilogy. That would mean that they disrespect and killed Luke so that Rey can take his adventures instead. I feel that Disney would do this simply because they just want there number one character to be a strong independent female, not for being a good character. Imagine that, the old EU but Luke swamps places with Rey. Do you think they would go down that road?
Would be a good idea... Or would have been. Wasting it on a rey trilogy seems to be another dumpsterfire.

They need to quit until they truly have a new, unique creative vision.
Oh Thor, I stall hate the sequels. I will always hate them, and i am tottaly not interested in any sort of continuation. THEY NEED TO BE RETCONNED.

Hey Thor, I loath the sequels but I haven’t ’moved on’ any more than my strong distaste for the prequels didn’t make me move on from SW. I stuck around holding on to what I connect to in this franchise. Is this easy? No, it’s really hard because you can’t get super enthusiastic about Andor but try and fail to forget that this is still happening in the same galaxy as the one where Luke ended up drinking green milk from an alien’s tit and saying ‘fuck you’ to all he stood for.

I gotta disagree personally. There's not a chance that ppl will enjoy something with rey in it. If u can't make her a defent character in 3 movies then ur not going to in another 3, and on top of that no matter whats done she'll always be the luke skywalker replacement even if done well, which that alone will stop anyone from investing their time, energy and money into checking out a project with her in it. There's legit no point doing anything post sequels or around them cos it will immediately make ppl check out. And it's baffling that that's the case when u look at legends and how many different eras and conflicts took place there. The empire fell, we'll have thrawn and its basically written so mothing else happened for 40 yrs. Then the sequels happen which is a pretty boring era and post sequels no one cares about cos again whats acc gonna happen to make fans interested. They wrote the whole franchise into a corner, so there only option really is to tell stories between the pt and og or go far back and do prequels in different eras
Don't care for anything from the Sequels , Filoni made content or any other Disney made content other than Andor. Disney and the current "creative minds" at Lucasfilm will just find a way to screw up any EU content they blew off.

@vetarlittorf1807 one looks like Dexters lab/power puff girls. One looks watchable. I'm not sure how they look at all similar?
@alexpearson8538 You're saying Dexter's Lab and PPG aren't watchable? And TCW literally uses the same character designs, just in 3D. Which honestly was a mistake, given how it only works in 2D. Just look at how ugly TCW's Dooku is. They made him look like an Easter Island 🗿 statue. Or how they made Mace Windu look like a Neanderthal.

No one is truly gone. because i want to see osh and mea die and meet anakin skywalker so he can teach them and plagues kill quimir and tell him he was never his true apprentice and when the screen turns black we hear palatines laugh
Not going to happen Acolyte was a bad show and most fans don't want a 2nd season. It's over.
@@Deuteromis really you don't want to see palpatine smaster in live action i do or see the stranger be killed by his master cause i do
@YayoHernandez-b1j Not that version that was placed in the show just because.
You can keep deluding yourself all you want but The Acolyte is dead and buried.
@@istari0 well when you seee it in a new title i well say i told you so all of you
No. Leave Abeloth and the sado-mazo supervillains that literally came from outside the setting in the dumpster fire that is the EU. The only thing Disney Wars has going for it, is the fact that these piles of flaming garbage steeped in sewage are not part of it.
Why would they need to use poorly written EU stuff when they have Filoni to make brand new poorly written stories?
Meanwhile Disney Canon
Writers can't create anything beyond the rise of Skywalker.
A lot of contradicting of their own lore.
A man with a cowboy hat can disown any book when he feels like it.
Riping off EU material to suit their own needs.
Bringing in EU character but not how they were in the EU
A lot of novels feel like advertisements.
Disney Canon is garbage and worse in every way. Say what you will about the EU but at least they tried something different.

"Meanwhile Disney Canon

Neither should've gone gone beyond Return of the Jedi to begin with. The story had it's proper ending. Anything beyond that can only subract from it.
"A lot of contradicting of their own lore."
Lol. The EU was the king of contradicting it's own lore.
"A man with a cowboy hat can disown any book when he feels like it."
Just like Lucas did with the EU.
"Riping off EU material to suit their own needs."
You do realise the hypocrisy, right? The EU was a ripp-off of Lucas's Star Wars to begin with. Also guess what? That's the price of writing-for-hire. You get the guareed paycheck that comes with an already built audience, in exchange the owner of the franchise you're writing for can do whatever they want with your material.
"Bringing in EU character but not how they were in the EU"
Assuming you're refering to Thrawn. Newsflash: he's garbage character, in an overrated trash book series. So he was exactly the same on Ahsoka, as he was in the EU. The only difference is, you have no nostalgia goggles for Ahsoka.
"A lot of novels feel like advertisements."
[Insert J Jonan Jameson Laugh meme here] So the exact same as the EU.
"Disney Canon is garbage and worse in every way."
Disney Wars being trashy, doesn't mean the EU wasn't equally trashy. And no, in a lot of ways the EU was even worse. Say what you will about Disney Wars and Jake Skywalker, he didn't orchestrate his own version of Order 66 like EU Luke did.
"at least they tried something different."
[Insert J Jonan Jameson Laugh meme here. Again.] Different how? Every other story, it was Sith this, planet destroying superweapon that. And the one time they did something different it was sado-mazo fetish aliens.
